  1. Nah, I've been harassing Staudie about his spelling and grammar (or lack thereof ;-) ) for ages, nothing new there. :-P Thanks :-$
  2. Much nicer! It's gone from a clone post to a good quality post with just a few adjustments. *y*
  3. Now I feel like I need a medic... Just for future reference: 1. While you may pronounce it as "probly", you'll probably find an alternate spelling advantageous. 2. "wouldnt" needs an apostrophe ... I wouldn't be caught dead without one. 3. I really think that i am important enough to capitalize. 4. The emoticon limit isn't a recommended usage amount, it's a maximum usage amount. Just to prove point 4, I couldn't even put a winky face at the end of this to show that I'm gently kidding you... YOU USED THEM ALL UP! (and now I don't have room for the angry face, followed by sticking out my tongue). Nice. (I'd roll my eyes here, but as we've already covered ...)
  4. I definitely want this set and can't imagine it being pulled from production too quickly, but now I'm going to worry until I pick one up. I used to like to wait for some kind of sale before making purchases. Seems like lately that isn't a great idea. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but LEGO is definitely doing a better job at getting me to pay full price lately. :-/
  5. I miss the old days when a promotion would be inside the box with the food. Mail-aways... last one I did was for a Studios Pirate set. *pirate* Took an eternity to arrive. |-/ Good thing I don't like EGGO waffles. :-P
  6. I don't know if I could handle Staudie live like that... *wacko* Initially, my intent was just to edit a few of his mistakes out and format the question and answer portion to be clearer. Eventually, I couldn't resist making comments and then added the show format to the beginning and end. Any pics are Staudie's work, I just comment on them. I actually did this interview completely from approaching LuxorV to asking the questions (though some are Staudie standards) to writing it all up. I think the only one I'd ever done completely alone before was my first one, which was the actual interview of Staudie himself. As I recall, it was decided that it would be silly for him to interview himself, so I offered. That doesn't really explain why I interviewed myself a few weeks ago, including heckling. X-D
  7. With production moving to new countries, expect to see more of this. New employees with no real company loyalty may take an opportunity to make a quick buck helping out a competitor. It's something LEGO needed to consider, but probably didn't. It takes months to build up enough inventory of a set to release it, so they are being produced long before we see them on the shelves. During that time, a shady competitor pays a few bucks to the right person and they have one for their own purposes. That's where it gets tricky though. I read something about the casting process once (may have had to do with the Castle line) that indicated that they can't simply take an old part and make a new mold from it. It's why the monorail line died, supposedly. It all has to do with having to produce the part some percentage larger than the desired result, to account for some kind of shrinkage during the process. What that means in this situation is that it shouldn't be possible to take a part off the shelf and reproduce it exactly, yet they seem to be managing exactly that. Are they literally sculpting their own originals or somehow getting official molds? Ultimately, LEGO seems to have serious security issues to address, and until then, we may see more and more fakes, including very recent parts (though these aren't shocking).
  8. May all your packages rattle with the glorious sound of ABS plastic, may all your cakes be large and chocolatey, and most of all, may all your wishes for the day come true, within reason. I say that because I don't want you saying that you'd wished I would send you all my LEGO or something. 8-| X-D Have a great one and many more! *sweet* Birthday Celebration On! *y*
  9. Absolutely love it. *wub* It looks so simple, yet it's packed with details. Only thing is ... why does it look more sand blue than light bley to me? Funny thing is, it gets me thinking about a sand blue/tan combo and I think it would work, maybe not in pirates, but somewhere. I'm all for it. A new pirates line, a chance to push a little literature at the youth of today, and no licensing fee to drive up the prices. Just imagine
  10. Original Trilogy: I'm definitely seeing the Rebel Blockade Runner here. It's the first ship in the first movie of the series. It's easy. It's reusing minifigs already in production. BUT! Wow, that was a big but. :-$ I have one requirement. Captain Antilles. It's a simple torso colour change and a face, nothing more. Same helmet, standard parts. It's just that for $150, I want someone new. Leia, C-3P0, R2-D2, Stormies, Rebels. Prequels, if they insist: Queen's Starship. A full bodied red r2 finally and at least one new Queen plus the usual suspects, Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, maybe a Captain Typho. See how this works? Stick to the prequels and it'll be a cheaper process for LEGO, but with this route, we get more new figures. It's a tough call. That's it for me, for now. I'll think more on this and come up with a refined proposal before it's all over.
  11. I'm not convinced it's ever been explained, but one would assume that sets within a theme are typically in the same number range, with releases grouped as they come out. At one time you could tell if a set was Technic or Pirates or whatever, just by number, but over time it's become more mixed up. Plus there were always exceptions, with most Pirates in the 6200s, but some in the 1000s. The only pattern I can guarantee seems to be the 10000s, which are 'special' sets. The LEGO Legends, the Star Wars UCS sets, the big scuptures and Shop @ Home exclusives, the limited editions, etc. Oh, and the 20000's may end up Brickmaster exclusives, but that isn't guaranteed.
  12. Welcome to EB! Always glad to see a new member with an appreciation for classic 80's era sets like the ones I grew up with. Who knew that having kids was the key to conquering the dark ages? If I ever start to drift into another, I'll have to give that some consideration ;-) Please be sure to take a peek at the Big Billboard o' Doom at the end of my post and join us in some community discussions where we can get to know each other even better and enjoy your time with us, back in the warm embrace of the brick. *sweet* Younger friends. :-P
  13. Hasn't this been done? To death, even... *alien* *skull*
  14. This isn't half bad. Ok, it's pretty good, I'll admit. :-) Almost makes me hate to do this ... *dials the phone* Yes, I'd like to report an illegally parked tank. *phone chatter* No, I'm not kidding. I called one in last week too. *phone chatter* Yes, that was me. *phone chatter* Don't blame me if you wrecked three tow trucks taking it out, it was illegally parked. Now come get this one, same place as the last. Oh, and bring more trucks this time. *angry chatter* Do you know who I am? I'm the incredibly famous and widely loved host of EB News Presents! *phone chatter* Well, sure, I can try to get you Hinckley's autograph, what would you like him to sign? *phone chatter* Oh, he has that many unpaid parking tickets? Well, I'll see what I can do when we have him on again, which I'm sure we will, we always do. ;-) *phone chatter* Great, see you shortly. *hangs up* The things I go through ... :-|
  15. First, welcome to EB! Second, thanks for the review, it's nice to see a new member jump right in like this! Third, you're wrong! >:-( X-D Ok, ok, I really like the speeder, I sincerely do. I despise the imperial dropship (crapship), but I think this one is actually pretty nice. I haven't had the heart to take it apart and expect to leave a couple assembled. I am with you on stickers though and I'm not applying them to either set. As for what to do with all the spare speeders when you end up buying this for the figures, I'm thinking of trying something like the little pilot transport seen in A New Hope on Yavin 4. Or maybe a super bobsled! :-D
  16. What can I say, I still love it! *wub* A good solid little fighter and a surprisingly classical style base, not classic base, but classic classic. I'd like to see a movie in that style, a retro-modern-futuristic conglomeration of elements and themes. Yep, one of those. *wacko* I'll shut up now :-$ and just mention that I still love it. *wub*
  17. Such horror should come with a warning sign. 8-
  18. If you paid by Paypal, contact them and initialize a chargeback for item not as represented (assuming you don't reread the auction and find that it didn't include figures). I despise "new without figures" or any variation on that, and it's just as bad at Bricklink, though they now require sellers to very specifically state it. I've had a lot of good luck on eBay, but never bought any full sets that were supposed to be sealed. I don't trust anything I can't see directly in the auction, and so far everything has been as pictured (taking into account the incredibly poor quality of photography on that site). Bottom line, it sucks. Hope you can get your money back.
  19. Welcome to EB! Yay for no dark ages! Stick with us and we'll make sure you never experience one. You've actually done well to get to 18 safely, you've got real promise. *y* Pirates! *wub* Woodsmen! *wub* Star Wars! *wub* I like you already *sweet* Music business? Cool, you can be my manager once I get my singing career going. I have it all planned out. It'll get a lot easier once I learn to sing *sing* ;-)
  20. :-P
  21. Eeek eek (monkeyspeak for "I voted"). Guess what for. ;-)
  22. Another big update thanks to natelite! *y* I'm not sure how many are really left, as I don't know how long they continued doing these. I'm also looking for the international versions. I can do a decent job of copying what I see, if I can see the picture well enough. I couldn't manage the non-English stories for 6280 without risking missing out on various accent marks. If anyone else is more familiar with them and could type those up, it would be great. Keep those stories and pictures coming, assuming there are very many left. Thanks for all the help! *sweet*
  23. I don't know what that kind of hat is really called, but it looks very good. I'm stealing that idea to put in my big file of things I might need one day. *y*
  24. I hate to say it, but I'd buy that set if it was LEGO. Of course they just copied older LEGO style to make it, but compared to some of the <insert that tiresome argument> planes now... Ok, enough of that. Block Block bad, except for the littering girls of course. *wub*
  25. I'll stick to themes this time around, and maybe add more specifics later. The one that started it all for me: Classic Space. The one that almost prevented my dark ages: Pirates. The one that got me back in: Star Wars. Good topic! *y*
