I'd like to see Elven forestmen (doesn't seem unrealistic). We get Elves. We get forestmen hats (though I heard the sad rumour that the molds for those were shot and we'd never see them again, much like monorails, but honestly I can't imagine them being THAT hard to make again, which didn't stop me from buying them up whenever possible, like shakos). We get bows and quivers. We get tree houses. Pure win. *y* Villagers would be great, but as they tell us time and time again, conflict is where it's at, and villagers bore kids, just like female figures. Oh, and I have enough pitchforks already. They look good enough in old brown. Honestly though, with the quality of their recent efforts, I'll take whatever they come out with. Right now, it seems like they know what they're doing with Castle. *sweet* Wish the same could be said for Space. :'-(

It was actually closer to tan addiction. :-$ When I first joined Bricklink, I would literally buy up all the tan in a store whenever I made an order. Eventually that progressed to dark red, dark tan, dark and medium blue, dark and medium orange, all of the sand variations and a few other colours until I had a nice amount of each. I get that way with LEGO, I want as much of an assortment as possible, even if I don't use them regularly. You ought to see my dark purple collection... :-|

A bunch of the smaller early Star Wars sets like the Final Duel and Jedi Defense pairs, Gungan Patrol, Ewok Attack, Desert Skiff (whatever it was called) and such for between $1-2 back in the glorious days of massively overstocked sets and deep discounts. *sweet* Most of my more recent deals have just been sets in themes I wouldn't normally buy, like Exo-Force, but at 50% or better. I've gotten a little too jumpy to wait for the ones I really want to go on sale, so I tend to pick them up at full price and then try for spares on sale. Sadly, it doesn't happen often. I know of at least one store with cases of Imperial Landing Craft and Y-Wings at full price, but I'm sure that they'll drop them to nothing one day and I'll go in and they'll be cleared out. Seems to be how it works ... :'-( I did get some of the new battlepacks and Indy sets last night at 10% off (hey, it adds up) with a store discount card. I'm happy. *y*

Some here will want you to adopt them. The question is, do you have enough LEGO for everyone? ;-)

Consider this thread to have cured you of your formerly homicidal posting tendancies and now you may go back and join the community safe in the knowledge that no longer will you be the cause of an untimely end to otherwise enjoyable conversation. (ok guys, don't post after him again for awhile, our plan is working perfectly!) :-P

Thank you! I really like these, and I'm not at all the 'custom' type, but I expect to print a few for specific situations and appreciate having them. Great job! *y*

Wow, this is great! I missed seeing it previously, it's from way before my time here. Please update us on your progress! Thanks for reincarnating it, Sinner. *y*

Official LEGO Stories as Printed on Pirates Boxes
Shadows replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Pirates
Exactly right. In effect, LEGO was trying to create a story where everyone was technically innocent, from their own point of view. The Pirates are only chasing the gold because they feel it rightly belongs to them. The Imperials are simply doing their job by protecting it. The settlers found it, and therefore believe it's theirs. Personally, I choose to blame the settlers. First of all, where did they imagine that coins came from, the local native population? Of course not. Second, since LEGO never bothered making any settler minifigs, they're easier to blame. :-P The real point is, we get to decide without having to feel pressured by the story. That's a great improvement over the stories they've used in more recent years for themes like Mars Mission or Castle, where you have clearly defined good and bad guys, with no room for imagination. -
This began in another thread and it quickly became obvious that saving these stories in one place would be better than posting them randomly in other places, so here we go. To add your own contribution to this effort, you can either post here, and I'll add it to the first post, pending confirmation, or pm me either the text or a picture of the text (preferred) and I'll do the rest. That section of the pic was unreadable. If I can find my original flap, I'll finish it, but someone out there must have it handy. I manually typed it from that picture. I'll try to dig up a few more though, especially Eldorado Fortress as it was directly mentioned. I assume it has an equally interesting story. Updated: I've found a very bad (despite being huge) picture of the text and typed it out to the best of my ability to read it. I'll start a new thread so this doesn't go off course and devote it to saving the box stories where we can find them. Update 2: New thread posted. Please visit and contribute if you can. Thanks!

Welcome to EB! Shall we expect Fran and Ollie to join shortly? (I'm not even old enough to get that reference 8-| ) "Grow up and grow out" ... a sad affliction that strikes many avid LEGO fans. Fortunately, there is a cure and you've just joined it. ;-) Stick around and we'll make sure you never have an unfortunate relapse to the world of so-called maturity. Rehabilitation Through Bricks On! *y*

Yes, it really was your idea Mandy Lori Ann! Been too long since I've gotten to call you by your favourite nickname there. :-D Oh, and I'm still waiting for you to finish your entry so we can finally wrap up the contest! 8-| :-P
-
Welcome eeksy! I'm calling you eeksy because it's easier than typing out eek de eenzame hamster. Of course, now that I've explained why I'm doing it, I've typed a lot more than just that. :-| Let's try this again. Welcome to EB! Planes and helicopters, eh? I've seen a fair number of topics here about them, though I haven't really built any personally. I tend to like older planes like the biplanes we used to get occasionally (I still need to get the Scarecrow set just to see how that one is). Be sure to visit some of the threads in the Big Billboard o' Doom at the end of my post and tell us some more about yourself, while learning a little about all of us! Thanks for joining this madhouse of LEGO goodness! *y*

Commented on the other thread, of course, but this looks especially good in action! Love the chariot, especially the small details like actually attaching the horses together, and doing it in a tile of matching colour to the hitching. That just makes it perfect. *y* Great use for an elephant. I never have figured out what to do with them, but this makes a great use. Only thing is, would gold teeth be considered an anachronism here? I love the faces though, and it's probably not noticable at all except in these closeups. Speaking of which... Yeah, but did you notice that he's wearing a wristwatch? 8-

Excellent job! You've been on a great building streak, and your photography makes them even more enjoyable! *y* It's funny, but the amphitheatre also gives me the same feel as the arena battle in Star Wars Episode 2 (obviously what the movie intended, but still). I can picture Jango and crowd standing up there watching as the battle begins below. Built large enough, this could serve double duty in that manner. Thanks for sharing this! *sweet*

Bus fare AND all you can eat in the employee lounge, except for seafood. That's nearly double what Staudie gets, so it's a pretty generous offer. Oh, heck, we'll throw in your own dressing closet room. X-D <--- (my official used car salesman face) It's such a deal! ;-)
-
You answered very well, well enough to leave me with no particularly heckly things to say (lack of Staudie being responsible for a lot of that also :-P ). You obviously took the time to carefully think out what you wanted to say and then said it clearly and completely. It's greatly appreciated! *y* You wouldn't happen to need a job as a reporter when that whole paleontology thing falls through, would you? X-D I kid, I kid. :-D I'd really only need you part time... ;-)

While the good Colonel gave us a creative interpretation of the text, we'll also record the actual text here, just to have it on file ;-)

Welcome back to LEGO and thanks for joining us here at EB! While you're picking up those age-appropriate sets for your son, be sure to look at some of the 'older' sets and consider saving back a few good ones so he won't miss out on them later. Or just get them for yourself and keep them well out of reach for now! ;-)
-
LEGO and Star Wars! You've definitely joined the right place ... Welcome! *y* Please consider visiting some of the community related threads mention below in the Big Billboard o' Doom to both get to know us better, and to help us get to know a little more about you. Most of all, have fun and play well! :-)

Welcome, he-who-shall-not-be-confused-with-the-other! *wacko* Enjoy your stay and may it be a permanent return to the land of LEGO, we need all the friends we're fortunate enough to find! :-)

Welcome to the land where brick dreams come true, the happiest place on earth! Wait, that's Disney. Nevermind. :-$ Welcome to the best LEGO forum on the internet! There we go, that's the one! *y*
-
To echo the not very original sentiment, great tree! *y* On top of that, the scene has a 'feel' to it. Here's the simple soldier, about to enjoy his daily serving of fruit, a natural occurance in a natural setting, and he's about to be pounced upon by the most unnatural of foes. Contrast. Tension. I like that. He should almost have the Joe Vig face. ;-)

Well, since I like all of those figures except the bionicles, it was easy to vote for the worst (though I think that having two of them in the worst will split that vote when in reality most of us don't know one from the other anyway). As for best, I'm sticking with the Princess, since she's the most versatile of the lot. It was a tough choice though, I'll admit.

Welcome to the January 14th, 2008 episode of EB News Presents! This evening it's going to be a little quiet around here, as Staudie seems to have gotten lost on the way to the studio and I'm going to be asking all of the questions. :-| Tonight we're pleased to be able to bring you LuxorV, who I was lucky enough to first meet in the *cough*wildly popular*cough* Hitchhiker's Guide to the Vignette contest I hosted a while back. Thank you for joining us! Thanks for your interest. I'm really happy to answer your questions. Then let's get started! Q. How did you choose your username? A. It
