  1. I was looking forward to this because I thought the original idea was amazing. But I'm disappointed. As others have said, the bottle is nice, (even though it looks like it's got a few unsightly gaps in it), but the ship is surprisingly poor and in my opinion lets the original down. I might pick one up if it doesn't sell well and ends up getting a discount, but as it stands the UK price of £70 is far too high - making this an (unfortunately) easy pass.
  2. Well this is great! Minas Tirith is excellent, but I really, really like your Osgiliath. You've really captured the look of the film
  3. These are lovely! I agree with Vorkosigan, they match the official style very nicely. My favourite part is the council room with the elemental chairs.
  4. These are lovely. I like the delicate appearance of the earth themed one, kind of makes me think the elves have trained the trees to grow into the right shape for each of the rooms and towers. I also like the custom characters - think we'll have to give that a go!
  5. Great review Marishka! Your pic of all the dark elves sets together has made my little girl want to do something dark for our next moc
  6. Hi, and thanks! Yes, the sparkly BURP is an official piece - we got ours from an Elsa's Sparkling Ice Castle set (41062). Thank you Thanks, we had great fun doing it! We don't do too many because whenever she has another good idea it ends up costing me a fortune in bricklink orders!
  7. Thanks, glad you like it. You can't see it too well from the pics but there's a fairy mushroom ring down behind the left hand tree that I... um... 'borrowed' from your Azaris cottage moc! Thank you :)
  8. Apologies, I'd uploaded from my phone so hadn't realised they were too large. I'll take a look when I'm home from work this evening.
  9. Haha, it does sound awesome! I dont know where she gets the ideas from but I can't keep up Here's her original And a couple of WIP shots
  10. Thanks Aanchir . Re the Autumn colours, I know what you mean. They've grown on me but I did wonder if we'd strayed too far into LOTR territory. Blues would look great though. My original plan was to use purple and red. I actually got quite far... But I thought it was just all getting too dark. I briefly considered Altbricks but decided to stick to official parts for now (although I haven't ruled them out in future). I'm now wondering what using light lilac leaves as the main colour would look like - although think they only come in the 3x4 size so it'd take quite a few!
  11. The telescope was all my daughter's idea - I can't take credit. She made this: Which I love , and from that we made this: It was also her idea to put the planets on because she's been learning about them at school. There's Saturn, Mars and the Earth and Moon. The Moon is actually Darth Vaders head Haha, I'm pleased with the colours, but it was nearly very different... I quite like the green... maybe we'll have to do a Spring version!
  12. Thanks Haha, I agree! Actually if you zoom in close on the first pic, you might see a familiar face...
  13. Cheers! There's some really nice tree tutorials in this thread (scroll about halfway down) My basic branch technique is the same. Derfel Cadarn uses levers to attach the leaves to, but I used the standard 3 stem plant stalk with the 'new' flowers on instead. It's not as versatile, but it's stronger when a 6 year old starts playing with it!
  14. Thanks, I'm glad you think so :) We tried to keep it within the theme but I wasn't sure if we'd gone a bit too 'Lord of the Rings' with it!
  15. Hi all, my daughter and I have been building a new Elves Moc - it's taken some time but it's finally ready to share. Sorry about the cropping on some of the pictures - couldn't for the life of me figure out how else to get them to show the right way up Here's 'The Crystal University' A mini version of Naidas Ship - would have liked to have used the clamshell pieces instead of the discs, but they don't come in gold Crystal Cave - this was my daughters idea - she wanted the cave to be a classroom for the students. The Observatory was also my daughter's idea. View from the back. As with our previous MOC, I wanted this to be a playset as well as something pretty to look at. It's fairly sturdy, and the main structure can stand up to little fingers without much problem (not so sure about all the leaves ) Statue of the Goddess of Knowledge (although don't blink, just to be on the safe side )
  16. Haha, thanks I will! I think it will be quite some time before we're finished with our moc, but here's a WIP photo...
  17. Love this. You've captured the Elves aesthetic really well - so much so that it could pass for an official set. We have an Elves moc on the go and might have to steal... um I mean 'borrow'... that fairy mushroom ring idea!
  18. You could be on to something there. The 'saloon doors' behind the conductor suggest easy access for passengers getting on and off. It's still a bit small though - but then it's not really trying to be realistically accurate! The more I look at it, the more I like it. Haha, yes! We'll have to dig out all our Lego hats and scarves because it could get a bit chilly!
  19. I was hoping for another building (a new one, but no reason why they couldn't re-release an old one alongside!), but my OCD will make me buy this. I wonder if at least one of the smaller sets will be another carriage, because trains are perfect for extending, and like others have said - it looks a bit short. I'd love a passenger carriage but suspect something similar to the Christmas tree carriage on the original would be closer to the right piece count? That and a platform of some kind would be great. I also notice another bench - Winter Village minifigs must be so unfit - needing somewhere to sit down every 10m! :D
  20. Please don't! Your Sky Ship has inspired us, although it'll be a while until we're ready to share!
  21. I love all the little details you've added for people to find - the hanging lantern, the different coloured toadstools and the hidden bag behind the spiderweb (I wonder what's in it?!). Great job :)
  22. I love this too. I really like all the details you've captured from the cartoon, like the coloured seats, the bell and the purple trees. I also like that you've really captured the art style from the sets. In LDD too!
  23. Haha, I really hope so! Thankyou :)
  24. Well I never knew that! Lovely mocs by the way - I especially like Sparkle Rock when it's all lit up like that!
  25. Thanks, it was by necessity rather than choice, but I wouldn't change it now (even if I was allowed!). Ahh, you're right to get ice cave vibes - that's Elsas ice cave! It's one of the design decisions made by my daughter. For me, the whole thing needed to work as a playset as well as a moc, so as we played I built whatever she imagined (although I did go back and rebuild/strengthen when she was in bed!). And at one point, Elsa, Anna and Olaf from Frozen put in an appearance, so an ice cave was added!
