There is truth in the above statement. It's such a true to life scene!

OOO.... Steampunk. A very inventive theme. Welcome to Eurobricks!

A big howdy and hello to you rioforce... Glad to have you aboard.

A narrow gauge train would fit in better with the look and feel of the rest of the village. "Slightly" off topic... I wonder what TLG was thinking when they decided that a merry-go-round with a few white bricks sprinkled in would pass as a Winter Village set?

Unlike the rest of you I did not grow up with LEGO. A few of my friends had them, but I thought that they looked so "mechanical" and far too "square-ish" for me. As a youngin' I preferred something called American Plastic Bricks. They looked more like real bricks to me. It wasn't until I was 52 that I took another look at LEGO. I was in a department store and saw a LEGO Racers kit and thought that it had some really nice lines to it. I forget exactly which one now. (It was eventually destroyed by the son of a woman I had dated several years later.) Not to worry, though. Since then I discovered two LEGO stores, (one corporate, one private), where I got a chance to find that LEGO is no longer all squares and rectangles. Now I am a happy LEGO builder with 5 trains (3 corporate, 2 MOC's), 3 vehicles (all corp.), one town style building MOC (WIP) and one Red Baron. Oh, I almost forgot.... The set(s) that ultimately hooked me? The Emerald Night train and the older VW Beetle.

Welcome Andreas. You will find that at Eurobricks you will have an appreciative audience for your MOC's. What are your main areas of interests for building?
-
Welcome aboard! Lets hear a little more about you...

Just an engineering thought... If the back wall isn't going to serve a scenic purpose you could use brick columns to support just a few rows of (longer) bricks at the top. LEGO bricks are quite strong and can support much more weight than might appear to be the case. Make sure you have a stout corner structure, then with only a couple of reasonably spaced columns you can remove as much as, maybe, 70% of the bricks from that big gray slab. Not only would you save some cash, but you would also save a lot of weight. It would also allow for excellent interior access to any "play" features inside the mountain, if any. The same can go for any purely interior walls. Switching gears... I like how your rock cliff is evolving. It reminds me of the Bookshelf mountains in southern Utah state.

Excellent execution of an enlightened vision. Very nice work indeed!

x105Black ---> "Just wanted to drop by here and say that while I do not currently reside in Canada, I am a proud Canadian." And I just want to say that if the weather keeps heating up around here like it has for last few years... I'll be a Canadian by the end of the decade!

Thank you for this additional pic. The taper of the nose looks a lot simpler than I thought it would be... Very elegant solution. Nice use of pin connectors for the last angle and cap. Well done.

Thank you. I'll be looking forward to examining it. I rather like your other builds that you have featured on Flickr, as well. I can see that HUGE is your favorite way to build. All are very well done!

Sorry folks... I think I'll keep my money in my pocket for this one. I already own the "old" one and in my opinion, it looks more beetle like. Having said that... It does look to be an exceptional build with all of the complex brick gyrations (read SNOT) they went through to obtain the shapes they did. And I can't wait to get my hands on some of those "pop-top" tiles to use in some of my builds.
-
I think HUGE is too small a word ... Very nicely done! You should get in contact with "The Late Show" (Colbert?) and see if you can get some TV coverage of this. I think your mural would be right up his alley.

This will be a Leviathan when finished! Nice work. A monster build to be sure. The taper of the nose is quite interesting. If you care to share, I would like to know how you achieved all those intricate step-backs. I detect some complicated SNOT-work in there.

Outstanding! With all the great detail work on this, it is hard to choose what I like the most... but the tapering of the drive rods really does stand out. Were those custom made? Good work!- 18 replies

You can never go wrong with a SP 4449 Daylight from Sava the Aggie. Here is a link to his store on BrickLink... http://www.bricklink.com/store/home.page?p=AggieSava#/shop?o={%22showHomeItems%22:1} I built one earlier this year and highly recommend it. Tony is an award winning builder and his instructions are top notch! -

Welcome aboard! Fair warning... There is no known cure for happy bricking. But then why would you want one anyway. Happy bricking!! -
Well done to all the clubs and individuals involved with those marvelous displays. And congratulations to Pewaukee Road LTL and Central Indiana LTC on your awards. Its nice to see LEGO getting its proper due from the NMRA. --> I love how this shot shows just how bad the midwest lines actually are: Midwest Lines <-- It might look bad, but it is quite prototypical. At least for the early years of Amtrak. All in all it seems like you were quite busy, Zephyr. Looks like I'll have to plan for a road trip in 2019!
