  1. ---> New photos of the long promised Mark-II rebuild are near the bottom on page 2 <--- Hi all, Has anybody built (or tried to build) an EMD GP-30? This ones been kicking around in my head for a while, now. There are a couple of tricky parts up on the roof, but it should be do-able with little compromising. I think 8-wide is probably the way to go. There are possibilities here! Any thoughts? It's a beautiful locomotive, and deserves to be rendered in LEGO.
  2. I'll echo Tony here... Just say the name LEGO in your local train store and check out the look you get from the guy behind the counter. But to get back on topic, sure, I'll subscribe. The 'tips and techniques' articles in the old "RAILBRICKS" were fascinating and very helpful. Also the 'plans' section' has been an invaluable source for ideas. It would be very welcome to have a additional resource of that quality available on an ongoing basis once again. $3 - $5 per issue? Sure. A little more if it's a little 'thicker' and quarterly.
  3. Hello fellow Brickheads, You might call me a late bloomer - I'm 59 and the 'Emerald Night' was my first LEGO kit. Trains are my thing, (I've always had a thing for trains, must be my inner child :) ), but if it catches my eye, almost any good build will work for me. What got me looking at LEGO in the first place was that I was searching for a lower cost alternative to HO and N scale railroad modeling. The joke was on me. :) My collection? Really small. I have the 'Emerald Night' of course, the Lone Ranger "Constitution", as well as the 'Maersk"... and I just completed a 4449 Daylight (Instructions from Tony Sava. Great build!). I also have a few other transportation related vehicles... The 'VW Beetle' and the 'Mini Cooper' are my favorites of the lot. At the moment I have to classify myself as a not-so-saavy technologist, (I don't even own a digital camera). So don't look for a lot of photos until I figure it all out. I look forward to many more builds. Happy Bricking, Rotundus
  4. A note on the horse car... If you went horse racing before the advent of the airplane for such purposes, shipping your animal by rail was your only option . An observation car would be cool, too.
