  1. Go to his Flickr page link located in his post. There are so many beautiful photos there including all his other creations.
  2. I hate to ask, but I would greatly appreciate you sending me the LDD file as well. If you want to host it on a site, you can always add a URL link in this post. If you need a website to host it, I use my personal comic and design website to host my LDD files, I can always download it, repost a link from my site with your credit of course for making it.
  3. Only new thing I am doing to it is making 1 stud wide gray bars so you don't see a 4stud bar going across the top of the roof to hold up those blue lights in the front and the back. I am asking one of the chrome dealers if they can cut down a bar to 1 stud and chrome them. I also am asking them to chrome my wheel covers for the speed champions, so I can swap out the painted ones I did for the set.
  4. I decided to separate out the car from the firehouse. I wish I could modify the title and get rid of the Ecto-1 part. Anyways, you can view the final ecto-1 here http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=137538 I will continue using this section for WIP stuff. Update on stickers. The company didn't used a sealant and the ink rubbed off. I am going with another company.
  5. I felt this warranted a separate topic since I have completed my Ecto-1 modification. When I first bought Ecto-1 I was excited that it became an official set, but lacked many of the qualities I remember from the film. Flails did a beautiful rendition of the car in June 2014 and gave away the LDD file on his site. I rebuilt the interior and heavily modified his file to suite my needs. From his interior appearance I would say its about 70% his design, but I wanted several things shown from the film inside this car. Major Improvements: 1. Roof rack. I used Brickarms' Monopod, two U-Clips, Brick Train's 1-N Ladder, and a cut down LEGO bar to achieve a more accurate depiction. I wish the Ladder was smoother and not 3d Printed. Maybe I will find time to cut LEGO Ladders and glue them together to make this better. 2. The front driver's seat includes a nice slope bench seat as did the old cadillac. 3. I also reworked the floor and computer terminal in the back seat area to fit the actual echo-1. 4. All new front headlights build. I wanted the tires and lights sit the way you see them in the film. Closer to the front. 5. The structure inside the car underneath the seats and trunk were completely reworked so it was stronger. 6. One of the most notable differences are on the rear tail fins. I am quite proud of making these 4 studs long instead of 3 studs. I understand why LEGO did it since there are tires behind them, but with slight changes on the structure, the 4 stud wedge plates look much closer to the sleek ambulance. 7. Blue hose modification. I use two white Brickarms U-Clips and a cut down flex cable. 8. Everything is now Chromed What I may do now that I have all my parts, cut down the red bars on the roof and make it 2 studs long. You can download the final LDD file here http://www.chrisehno...cto1_051016.lxf You can see the rest of the album here on my new flickr page: https://flic.kr/s/aHskDhtzJT LEGO Echo-1 Mod by Chris Ehnot, on Flickr LEGO Echo-1 Mod by Chris Ehnot, on Flickr LEGO Echo-1 Mod by Chris Ehnot, on Flickr LEGO Echo-1 Mod by Chris Ehnot, on Flickr LEGO Echo-1 Mod by Chris Ehnot, on Flickr LEGO Echo-1 Mod by Chris Ehnot, on Flickr LEGO Echo-1 Mod by Chris Ehnot, on Flickr LEGO Echo-1 Mod by Chris Ehnot, on Flickr
  6. Stickers arrived and I'm happy with them. I am also waiting on my last order of chrome pieces to arrive so I can take awesome photos of my Ecto-1
  7. I am not sure if this is the right place to ask, but has anybody began a thread building the various creations found throughout the game so far? Examples: lamp posts, chairs, desks, tables, cars, etc? My fiancee asked me about this the other day and as we begin our expensive hobby creating a town we thought this may be an awesome place to start.
  8. I can do that. I also have been buying a lot of printed tiles for news papers, letters, city maps, computer buttons, etc for the offices, tables, walls, and computer and electric generators. I think i will use all the tiles and stickers. Stickers are going to basically go in the rooms they reside in the official set. The maps will go on the tiles in the second floor on the wall behind the couch near the pool tables just like in the film. The photos will stick on 2x2 tiles and the wall in the photo dark room. The 1x8 "75827 firehouse 75827" now will go on the 1x8 brick I have in the front similar location. The containment will be placed on the 2x2 tile in that model. The 2x2 ghostbusters logo will not be used. I have custom 3x3stickers now. I may use them for something else. I will cut the telephone dial into a perfect square so it fits onto the 1x1 chest wedge phone I made for Janine desk. The computer monitor screams will be placed on 2x2 tiles for computer monitors. I will scatter the news papers and such in Venkmans office.
  9. My fiancee pointed this out to me online: While looking for toys for her son, she saw that the front of the car looks like the Ecto-1. She is right. Check out those awesome white wheel wells. That might work well for my Mach 5 or another white sports car. I know this isn't LEGO, but...
  10. My fiancee pointed this out to me online: While looking for toys for her son, she saw that the front of the car looks like the Ecto-1. She is right. If I buy 2 of these sets, I can get 4 curved front pieces that would come to a point above the ecto-1 headlights. Of course they don't create a curved top, like the roof top wedges do, but that is a sweet alternative option. Also check out those awesome white wheel wells. That might work well for my Mach 5.
  11. Thanks. The ghost traps can be attached to strings with end knobs. You can use the one end as the foot peddle. You can also buy one of the strings with a know and bar and use that as the handle for the second and third ghost traps. As for the containment room, I will need to bend the hoses to fit the holes in the walls and gray electric boxes. I feel like the containment room should be smaller, but I won't be able to fit all the correct panels and such on the back wall to look correct. Overall I am happy with these LDD files and have slowly been ordering parts for the massive project.
  12. I am waiting for stickers to be printed and mailed. I ordered 10 sticker sheets.
  13. Stickers Stickers are being made for the firehouse. I also bought a sticker sheet that has a ton of logos on it as well. That sticker sheet arrived today and it may work as a backup. The following stickers are for 3x3 stud tiles. 1x4 tile sticker 1x6 tile sticker 1x8 tile sticker 2x14 tile sticker Ghost trap option 1: for 1x1 brick, 1x1 plate, 1x1 plate modified with clip. Ghost trap option 2: for 2 plate height ghost trap Containment Room Blue Render Final containment room layout. The black bricks behind the tan wall is my containment. You open the hatch, slide the trap in it and close the door. You push a black rod on the other side to slide the trap forward outside the hatch. Simple. Details of the wall. The generator and shelves
  14. Speed Racer Sticker Sheet Looks like if I want pre-cut stickers I need to buy 250 and it will cost me about $245 for the batch. Yikes. If I don't have them pre-cut, they will cost me about $85 for 250.
  15. Final Speed Racer Mach 5 LDD Version 1 http://www.chrisehno...h5_final_01.lxf Version 2 http://www.chrisehno...h5_final_02.lxf Thank goodness I built this model. There were so many durability issues with the digital model. I am waiting for a few pieces to arrive in the mail, like the inverted 1x3 Slope transparent clear (hard to find and not made for public sets. Only 2 vendors have it, and I bought extras. Also, the rims will be chrome. I already own them, just waiting for final pieces to take some photographs. The new model has a super strong frame. The front arches above the wheels are the only parts that are semi flimsy. That is because of how I needed to attach them with 1x1 tiles. The LDD has 2 variations in case you want a more durable front. The first option is seen in the BlueRender below. The second option has a 1x4 plate below the 1x3 slope for durable headlights. This does not work very well for the accurate Mach 5 profile. Both models have a trunk compartment that can be modified for hinges to open.
  16. I built the model and reworking it to make it more durable. When I am happy with the internal structure, I will reverse engineer it and make the final LDD available.
  17. I combined Car #1 and #3 to see how it would look. The shape and body looks great. I wish LEGO created wedge plates without studs as options for us. Overall, I think this nails it. BlueRenders with photoshopped "M" and "5" Logo as well as a nice Japanese License Plate with Speed's actual plate number from the Manga. Photo 1 Here is the proposed size and placement for my stickers. Photo 2 Trying to get the correct size and placement for the "5" according to the various models and reference I have. I think this fits quite nicely. The size for the circle is the same size as the wheel rim. The size and shape of the logo changes everywhere I looked except the original blue prints and the Allegory model. They place it on the door with the same basic size as the rim. This fits well on the side of the LEGO model. Photo 3 I changed some of the bottom structure a bit to make it more durable. The model also has a trunk compartment, but no hinge yet. I need to see how durable it is with the allowed space. Photo 4 You can sorta make out the under air intake "smile" I did not add a "M" rendering on this version since it looks sorta weird without an actual sticker placed. Photo 5 I placed the rear license plate onto the proposed plate. I like how Ecto-1 had lines and a few dots to indicate the shape and screws. Photo 6 I think this will be just about the right size.
  18. I have been a graphic designer for 15 years now, LOGO creation and recreation sorta comes pretty natural to me. The following images depict what I was working on trying to bring to life a 1967 cartoon logo. There have been many revisions to the logo and slight modifications by die cast and toy companies. Photo 1 Top Row: My preferred "5" Logo created from modifying the Allegory model version and original Intro ending logo. One at the front of the intro sequence then a 3d turnaround at the end. The first is quite thin and the later is much thicker. The thicker number would make more sense since it needs to be seen from far away. 2nd Row: Allegory model recreation. Based on various photos from the 2012 SDCC show. 3rd Row: 1967 Intro recreation. The 54 episode tv cartoon had too many flaws and even the intro showed 2 completely different logos. 4th Row: Speed Racer: The Next Generation CGI tv show brought back the original Mach 5 digitally recreated. Allegory used this model to help build theirs along with the original blue prints from 1965-1967. Photo 2: The high res jpg from The Next Generation helped out a lot. This was taken from a promotional poster art. The original logo has rounded corners on all the tips and I thought it felt too soft so I took them off. Photo 3 I used various Japanese License Plates to recreate an official plate for the Mach 5. The Mach 5 License Plate reads as 21 on top and 2787 below in the cartoon and manga. Japan uses a dash between their license plate numbers since 1963. I will include both versions in the sticker.
  19. I may need to have professional stickers made for this. I purchased a LEGO brand sticker sheet and realized that the "5" logo and "M" logo are stylized for the live action film and way too small for this. Looking into it, The press house I use for my comic art prints want 250-500 quantity for $31-$35. I just need 1 set. Would there be any interest in buying these? I will upload a photo of the 2x3.5 sheet i want to get made.
  20. I think i may give away the LDD for free like I recently did on my 74 stud long Ghostbusters firehouse and the LDD of my revamped Ecto-1. I might want to build Racer X car first. I don't know. I am also nearly finished with my revised Delorean from Back To The Future. The reason I gave these away was so others could enjoy building them and modifying them. If anybody could improve them, add a trunk or engine I would be honored.
  21. the two antenna parts are technic parts. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=483 The gray hose holding it into the connector on the side is a cut down rigid hose: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=75c03#T=S&C=86&O={"color":86} The other gray hose "bent" next to ladder is http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=75c06#T=S&C=86&O={"color":86} The hub caps are from the new speed champions sets.
  22. Ecto-1 is now ready for Chrome parts. I may buy 2 official lego white rubber banks for the blue 4mm hose instead of using brick arms double clip. Photo 1 How did I keep the hose in place? 1. I cut down a flex cabe into 2 stud width parts. I made sure the two ends of the flex cable was facing down. I slid them into the blue hose and they keep the whole thing into place. 2. I also cut down a 1 stud width grey 3.2 mm rigid hose and shoved the flex rod into it so it would hold well in place. 3. Since I took these photos I also cut another 1 stud long grey tube and shoved it into that black round stud with hole and it holds the front flex cable in place better. The white 1x1 cone and 1x1 round plate holding the red binoculars is temporary. I forgot to order a white telescope. It will be accurate when it arrives. Photo 2 Closeup of the cut tube. Photo 3 Ok, so I cut a bar ladder down and plan on sanding down the edges and try to mold it into this size. Currently I am using brick link seller's train ladders. This actually would be great if he used a mold and not 3d printing. They are a bit rough. For now, it looks good enough. I still want to take the cut ladders I di and somehow sand them down, to approximately this width and glue them together. The clips are from Brickarms The tiny black bar is one of the cut off parts of the ladder I am working on. It fits perfectly in this shape and size. Photo 4 Back 1x2 panel. The real Ecto 1 has a chrome panel below the license plate. I found stickers on eBay for LEGO echo-1. I am going to cut down the plate to fir inside my chromed panel. This will look great. The stickers are already painted yellow. Firehouse Ghostbuster sign: Same person I bought the stickers from also did replacement stickers for Kenner vehicles. I gave him the dimensions of the 3 stud wide square panel areas I need for my firehouse. He said he has one that will fit that size in his logo set. I ordered it.
  23. Oh shoot. I uploaded the older file. I can upload the file with what is shown in the photo. NEW LEGO LDD for ECTO 1 http://www.chrisehnot.com/LEGO/GB/Ecto1_051016.lxf
  24. Ecto-1 LDD file I separated the roof from the car so you can just use it to mod your existing model. If you prefer the 3 stud wide fins, just use the same LEGO official instructions for that part. I prefer the slower angle using 4 stud wide. http://www.chrisehnot.com/LEGO/GB/Ecto1_050916.lxf 1. The file contains 1 part that doesn't officially exist, metallic silver 1x2 panel. I had purchased it chromed and plan on using an echo-1 license plate sticker for it. That way you get the nice metal and lower bar as you seen in the film. 2. The black chair for some reason doesn't sit into the place. It works fine in reality. 3. Engine. For some reason the file won't shove the clip into the brick with pin hole any closer like you can in person. The engine will slide into place just fine.
  25. thank you. I saved these. I may use this to modify the hook and ladder a bit. Or even just the alley.
