Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
There have been a whole bunch of generic repeated unnamed characters before LEGO City Adventures, I could find multiple within 2017 Jungle or Police, and that's not including the Polybags or Magazines. But there also have been suggestions of people growing up, across multiple years. 2016 60134: People Pack - Fun in the Park (couple with baby) 2018 60182: Pickup & Caravan (baby has grown) 2021 60283: Holiday Camper Van (new generation) And while it's not City, Chinese New Year sets also had some suggestions of repeating, unnamed character couples across sets. The 2 spectators from Dragon Boat race 2019, show up again in 2021 shirts in 2021 Spring Lantern Festival, and then cleaners in 2022 Lunar Traditions ,and then as Parade participants (with flags) in 2023. And then the parents , boy and girl from 2019 Chinese Dinner , show up again at the 2020 Temple Fair, 2021 Spring Lantern Festival, 2022 Lunar Traditions ,and also in the 2023 Parade as spectators (children have varied hair but the parents are definately the same) Grandparents from the 2019 dinner also show up again at 2020 Temple Fair. Grandparents from 2021 Story of Nian show up again at 2022 Lunar Traditions. (individual figs repeating is a bit of guesswork, but couples, parents , grandparents are easier to spot patterns, especially if their faces and hair remain the same) -
Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion

Indeed, with 2019, repeating characters like Duke Detain (Police) and Freya McCloud (Fire) showed up for the first time, which was later followed by a whole cast of characters during 2020-2022 , including the Stuntz theme and Advent Calendars. Duke Detain (& many others) are still in some 2022 sets, but with 2023 sets, there are no returning LEGO City Adventures characters seen as minifigs in sets (1 exception being a magazine gift that has a Duke Detain minifig, currently still found in 2 other 2022 sets) 2023 City still has named characters , like Rocket Racer (which has a history long before LEGO City was even a Theme) and a new character named Fearless Fi , are featured in set 60361: Ultimate Stunt Riders Challenge and a bunch of suggestions for people to modify their own custom things from other current City products , for example "Build a Supercool Multi-Purpose Car Challenge!" video found on the LEGO media section of the site, and Youtube, shows custom cars built out of various 2023 City products. I think it's great LEGO is showing kids that it's perfectly okay and cool to modify and mix their LEGO sets. -
Licensed Lego Ideas - Support & Discussion

Does look like a nice half-timbered house , but need to see reviews/parts lists etc, as it's still 28% higher priced compared to what the Blacksmith currently is , and over 53% higher priced over the original Blacksmith launch price in 2021. -
The sets with cars are great, some great designs there, including the boat, and the attachments / mixing of car parts is fun. That purple car will also go well with the cyber stuntz bike or the neon yellow eletric sports car for some cyberpunk/sci-fi/tron/neo-japan etc. And the red car will go well with the "muscle car" styled vehicles from previous years . The 2x monster truck set isn't as interesting to me as it really looks more like a playset / tiny turbos style, but still has some fun designs with the taco cannon / mexican wrestler outfit, and pirate inspired vehicle. (+ I already have 2 monster trucks from 60295: Stunt Show Arena, which I think look better) + one set also has that yellow "SUV" that's almost a monster truck by itself.
-
Agreed, I don't think they mean anything officially either, when going by official sets, all the original 5 colors are seen as pilots of both ground or air vehicles, or with some form of jetpack, or instrument/scanner. Of course people could make up their own systems, or follow other sci-fi material like Star Trek for their roles, especially Futuron uniforms seem quite appropriate as Star Trek next generation , which both the TV series and LEGO Futuron sets released in 1987, probably just cooincidence, but still interesting.

I do like the 2022 recycling truck, especially after building it, it just has a lot of potential as a set as it's price so feels much better value compared to the 2023 City recycling truck (€20 vs €35). Even default without the containers on it, it's a nice flat tiled truck. And the 3 colors of trash cans + container pieces are nice addition to other fairly high amounts of Lime , Coral in Friends and recent Classic, and more Vibrant Yellow is good too (love that color) The Friends truck also can be fairly easily converted into some kind of dump truck as there are 12 of those white panels included, so you can make easy cargo bed walls 2 or 4 bricks high using 6 or 12 of the included panels + blue tiles to cover the tops of panels for an open truck, or white plate to make a closed box. And then there are the technic pieces to make some form of liftarm. Of course sets like the 2012 / 2015 City trucks are perhaps more appealing dump trucks but since then long gone. with retired pieces. Another alternative would be the 42147: Dump Truck set (Technic), or parts of it :)

I don't mind the current minifig approach to the skull flags, or things like x-ray minifig bones sticker artwork in hospital sets, or more minifig inspired traffic signs/billboards. Ninjago did use different skeleton heads for skulkin or skull dungeons, as well as a different ribcage, but the standard basic skeleton is pretty much the same still, so the flat top head makes sense in that case. The ninjago skull also had limitations on what hats could fit on it, it worked for the samurai helmets but many standard Pirates/Castle helmets don't fit.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
TeriXeri replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Even in Europe, it's estimated 28 days to get non-bestseller parts. I did order some pieces back in September last year , which did take exactly 28 days to arrive. I haven't ordered recently but I do notice a lot more parts did get moved to Bestseller. -
Looks like Wheel Wagon Huge (43mm D.) Ornamental Item No: 15744 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=15744&name=Wheel Wagon Huge (43mm D.) Ornamental&category=[Wheel]#T=C I don't have that part but I remember it from seeing a bunch of times, especially because LEGO seems to keep making Cinderella Carriages (2014, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2023) with 4 of those wheels.

LEGO Ninjago 2023 Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Seeing reviews of 71792: Sora's Transforming Mech Bike Racer, the cockpit color is listed as trans-brown but it looks far less "brown" from the piece in 71780: Kai's Ninja Race Car EVO also from 2023. So I wonder if it's the new trans-black variant. Edit: Looked at multiple reviews, and it seems to be just normal trans brown, but lighting can really influence it a lot, and in this case I suppose the dark blue of the set creates a darker looking canopy illusion. -
I'm not familiar with 8 wide speed champions , but I assume those purple wheels on 60396: Modified Race Cars are those dual-moulded wheels ?

Very nice build, definately captures the same styling as the original. Great use of those large "railway crossing" ramps originally used on the tail as wall panels, and using the small yellow windows inbetween. Also the fact it's built on blue airplane tails, and using leftover slopes as a moon craters, and yellow edge for the landing pad, captures the original 497/928 ground section very well.

I know it's early, but with the 2022 Tiger and 2023 Rabibit, but I already look forward to a possible Dragon Zodiac set for 2024 year of the dragon. Perhaps an opportunity for LEGO to dedicate a set to the LEGO stores style dragon design (also seen on the 2023 new years parade set)

Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Agreed, the colors are great, and the fact you can swap modules between vehicles was something that early space was full of (and recently seen again in the remake of Blacktron Cruiser). I love to see the module system is continued, and you can make some fun combinations even out of just 5 of those vehicles. With some modding, those could easily be some type of cyber city floating cars, or space cars (Space Police 3 had a bunch of car/truck inspired ships) The red car could also go together with the other "muscle cars" from 2021/2022, the black/turqoise and black/orange , on that car transporter truck. Also I do like that for summer 2023, the buildings , and vehicles are almost completely seperated from eachother , and if vehicles are included, they are mostly 4 wides that don't eat a lot of parts. The brick built powerboat certainly doesn't look bad either. The other monster truck set I don't think is that great, I prefer this yellow truck, or the quite fun monster trucks that came with the 2021 stuntz show. -
31144: Exotic Pink Parrot has pictures now, and I absolutely love the colors. Instead of pastels, or a straight color swap from blue to pink, LEGO went bold the "Scarlet Macaw" inspired pattern. (the flowers did get the pastel colors which is nice for contrast) I don't mind that it's not red / realistic, and seeing more Dark Pink pieces used is nice.

Built the 2023 fresh market and when seeing it in person, I can understand the pricing a lot better. I judged it as overpriced when first pictures released, but seeing the fully tiled interior, and quite a large food inventory, clever double sliding doors and rolling cash register, and 2 shopping carts, I think it's quite fair, a litle steep but not crazy. the building walls changing from White, Light Nougat (no more called Flesh), and Vibrant Coral looks really good, with the more subtle medium nougat windows instead of just plain reddish brown. This year certainly has seen a surge of combinations with coral and nougat, even on the Leo minidoll , and the recent Classic boxes. The vehicle also looks better in real compared to pictures (my transparent pieces weren't scratched much, and don't look milky/dull either), but it'll probably still looks better when made into a Van instead of this weird glass pickup truck.

Ski slope set looks very good , again, seems to be inspired by the 2018 3-in-1 creator winter house (as in, a cabin/shop with a ski slope partly on top/next to it), but I love the build, and the difference from the City set, especially the amount of trees and they way they are built is very nice, and the bottom stonework and logs give it a very nice style. It still has the bright accents of Friends, with vibrant yellow, azure and flame orange yellow, but it's subdued by the earthy/sand/aqua tones from the environment. The suggestion of a rock arch that can double as a wolf/fox cave is nice, and there looks to be a quite large assortment of snow boards, skis, and a sled, I like the vibrant yellow and coral snowboards and helmet with colored visors especially.

Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Found the City magazine yesterday with the 2 construction figures, nice way to get 2 of them outside of a (often 4+) set. While construction workers are quite common via magazines, not every magazine releases in my country anymore (it used to be 12 a year, but I believe 6 a year since 2020) The 2022 steam roller build still my favorite magazine gift of recent times, just a genius build. I rarely pick up magazines anymore , but the ones with 2 figures, or unique builds like that 2022 steamroller are still nice to see , even if the price of magazines nowadays increased to €6,50, which makes online Pick a Brick probably cheaper on big orders (to avoid service/shipping cost), but that takes a lot more time. -
LEGO Ninjago 2023 Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
End of Life list has all of Ninjago 2022 retiring at the end of this year. Also a couple retiring even sooner at July 2023 (which isn't new to Ninjago, past years had a bunch of July retirement as well) . 2021 sets listed as retiring 31-7-2023 Sea Bounty Water Dragon Zane Titan Mech 2022 sets listed as retiring 31-7-2023 4+ dragon temple Zane Jet Kai Raider The 31st July retirement dates are also pretty much confirmed as they are listed on Brickset as well https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-end-of-life-2023/#lego-ninjago As for the 2023 sets on there, i'm usually waiting for more sources near the end of the year for those, but sets retiring quite fast in the same year has happened before, with the 2022 spinners / training center lasting from March-December. This year in particular seems to be moving a lot of old product around in themes like Ninjago or City which makes sense in a way, as both going in a somewhat new direction. -
I've been looking at some pictures and a piece what get my attention is this : That seahorse build in the Beach Adventure park has the 2x1x2/3 curved slope in a transparent color for the first time. (also in trans-light blue in the same set) Been waiting for that piece for car/truck headlights and such. Hopefully that means that the wedge (left/right) version will eventually follow. Also that Bus set has at least one destination as Hospital, which makes me think a new Friends Hospital is likely for 2024, as the City version is currently listed as possibly retiring. Another destination sticker says Market, which could be another 2024 set. (altho "Fresh Market" is the 2023 supermarket)

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
It certainly seems Classic Space is getting a lot more attention since 2019 especially. (technically it started with 2014 LEGO Movie 1 and Exo Suit, but there wasn't that much inbetween 2014 and 2019) While City Space and possibly even the Galaxy Explorer might be retiring at the end of this year (based on lists), I doubt that's the end. Set 31111 Cyber drone lasted 3 full years as well , with the Spyrius robot inspired face. The new 3-in-1 Space roller coaster, while very Nasa/Mars inspired, has multiple Classic Space references as well with the space baby, and 2 classic space related torsos (which have been used before but still 3 references in 1 set) I still wouldn't rule out some form of Classic Space dedicated 3-in-1 set (that's not a theme park ride), or perhaps more Icons down the line as time goes on. However, themes like Ice Planet, Blacktron 2, or M-tron, , seem far less likely with the looming retirement of transparent neon green, and transparent neon orange already being gone at the moment. -
Built the Cat Hotel set and it's really good. Even at it's full price due to being exclusive to LEGO, it's a good value set with good parts and figures and 3 very different Cats (2 being exclusive to set as of now) Also should be easy enough to convert it to something else, so a good starting point, perhaps combined with one of those room sets you'd have a small house :) I do like the masonry bricks used at the base, and the way the windows are built.

Quite a mix of sets retiring this year (or at least on those End of Life list) including surprisingly Viking Ship , with the still unrevealed IDEAS viking village. (altho if it's rumoured to be october release, there'll be a period of overlap) Pirate Ship and Castle seem to have another year at least (from what's known), as those aren't listed. Hopefully with the retirement of the beach house and noodle shop, at least another mid-range "Downtown" building will appear.
