Poorly Cut Stickers on 2019 City Space Sets 60226 and 60227
TeriXeri replied to Vorkosigan's topic in LEGO Town
Back in 2016 I mailed LEGO customer service about replacement stickers, and they said loose or damaged stickers (during building) can be replaced within a 2 year warranty period. So as long as a set/theme like this City Space is still very new, I don't think asking LEGO would be a problem. -
Someone made a screenshot of rewards, a lot more then just Vouchers : https://imgur.com/a/6qbdM5X Park tickets, Discovery Tickets, Sets, Key Rings, Art Prints, Sweepstakes are among the new rewards alongside vouchers. Reddit dicussion where I found this : https://www.reddit.com/r/lego/comments/cbiiyn/lego_vip_system_update_discussion/ As for VIP points being gone, and wishlists empty, LEGO is apparently in the process of converting them now.
-
I do hope they convert my existing points into new ones, but not one to one But even then, if I try to buy something for like €100 , then it says 750 VIP Points will be earned, so the rate of points did increase a lot. A €350 set like Rollercoaster would earn 2625 new points it says. I had around 600 points saved up, I really hope I get around 4500 points and not just 600. Saw this posted on Reddit: $1 = 6.5 VIP points £1 = 8 VIP points €1 = 7.5 VIP points So 400 pounds = 3200 points = 20 pounds voucher. Likewise for USA a $20 voucher should be 2600 VIP Points, and a €20 voucher should be 3000 VIP points so nothing seems to have changed.

I suppose people got the Tree House idea from the movie "Swiss Family Robinson" (1960) Trailer : But even then, this other IDEAS submission comes closer to that design : https://ideas.lego.com/projects/e299db50-89bc-41e5-a69d-1f51520093e4
-
I prefer this brighter "Creator" color scheme a lot more then the darker original, I think it fits in a lot better with other themes this way (especially City/Creator 3-in-1/Creator Expert) While the original submission does state it's partly inspired by Robinson Crusoe it never said it strictly was 100%. (unlike some other projects on IDEAS) "The idea was emerged during a unusual week-end with friends in treehouses, such as Robinson Crusoé. "

I had 10 out of 12 made Slizers sets back in 1999/2000 and really never used the parts in system builds as they weren't really compatible either. And that predates Bionicle. Might have played a role for having less interest in Bionicle in 2001 as I already had many of those similar "characters" I mostly kept them as-is, beside trying out the mega-build provided instructions, but that was 20 years ago. I don't collect Licensed themes right now, or Technic, Friends, Brickheadz, CMF etc, but does that mean I automaticly hate them because I don't buy them? Like I said, I had 10 differerent Slizers in 1999/2000, and by 2001 I didn't buy any new LEGO sets until 2016, but not because I "hated" LEGO at the time. Basicly 2001-2015 was a time I rarely looked up LEGO sets, other interests were just higher priority at the time. LEGO itself also was on a bit of break on certain themes, for example Town had no new sets in 2001 until 2004 (World City), and those LEGO exclusive re-release sets weren't easy to get. But even when I got back into LEGO I have watched the 2016 wave Bionicle review videos, and they are certainly interesting from my 15-year gap viewpoint, the 2015/2016 Bionicle look very good indeed and even the older ones have some interesting designs. Honestly I never even knew the existance of brick built System Bionicle sets (2005-2007) until recently either. Around 2010 I started knowing more about LEGO again via the Club magazine, by then Hero Factory was out , still interesting sets as well nonetheless.

This is how I see minifigures, especially City and Creator with no preset story make it even easier to imagine. But nothing is stopping me from swapping heads on my duplicate Nexo Knight figs. As for the waistline or "breasts" prints on torsos, I don't think it's a huge deal either. Maybe it's because I grew up with generic smiley figures I have an easy time imaginating things.- 46 replies

Fortrex hinged in the more traditional sense (like yellow castle/black falcon's etc), Knighton Castle could open up from the front to have better hand access the courtyard. But I don't want to get into the endless debate of Nexo Knights being a Castle theme, for me it is, because it was the theme that got me back into LEGO since 2000, so it's my only Castle theme that's not 90s or earlier. If people don't consider it a Castle theme, that's an okay opinion too, as it's surely uses some very different parts and color schemes. Either way, looking at the 2010 and 2013 castles with technic pins , that could work for me as well, if they sold like 1 main castle, but also seperate compatible sections that'd be great. Vertical modules could also work if designed properly without simplifying the look too much. And I'd also prefer if they keep the largest monsters/siege vehicles into their own sets as well. If anything, excluding Nexo Knights, Trolls Mountain Fortress (2009) looks be the last large Castle set to have large multi-hinged walls. (2012 Kingdoms Joust also had 2 smaller hinged walls). Even with the use of burps and panels it looks like a fun set, bigfigs aren't really my focus point however, I think a brick-built monster could be great as well if they go Fantasy again. But I am not going back to purchasing older (sealed) sets but looking forward.

LEGO has been experimenting with those 32x32 double sized cardboard City/Friends playmats, but I don't see those ever fully replacing baseplates. Those 2017 City/Friends playmats (both contained 5 plates) eventually went on 50% sale on LEGO store, and 2018 put them under the Xtra theme as more specialized (water/grass/road) packages. But for €9 for 2 (double sided), that's too much. However 2019 also repackaged the actual studded road plates again after more then a decade I don't see them discontinue baseplates for Creator Expert Modulars anytime soon unless they one day make 32x32 or 16x32 regular plates with enough structural strength that won't warp easily.

I do hope actual future Castle sets and not just CMF/BAM, how great as it can be for people with easy access to both, I don't like those "limited" releases. (with aftermarket raised prices) I'd rather see actual Castle builds, and sets with horses etc. Ideally following the "modular" trend of Harry Potter, or 2019 City Space : basicly more of an 80s style Castle with wall sections, towers, inn and blacksmith etc. that can connect to the main Castle sets. Knighton Castle and Lava Lair were the last 2 big "castles", to me, both great sets in size/value , and easily shows the designers still have what it takes to design nice buildings without going overboard on parts. Fortrex had some nice connectivity to 1-2 Libary sets and also still had the concept of opening up like Yellow Castle and some later variants to make a wider straight-wall shaped gate. (I don't have the 2013 castles or earlier 2000s sets so cannot directly comment on those in person) Overall I wouldn't mind going back to a more building focused traditional Castle line, either historic humans, or in-house fantasy. Hinged or open back would be nice as well, if it adds to variations/playability or to save parts(and cost)

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Trains sets been part of Trains/Town/City for decades, and bicycles currently are widely available via Xtra polybags. Busses and trams are made every few years (2 trams in 2010/2015, and a smaller one in a 2019 Creator set), busses been seen in 2009,2010, 2013,2017,2018 in City. Electric Cars also been making it into sets in recent years. (2018 City and 2017 Creator set) 2010-2019 so far has had a lot more different (public) transport sets compared to like 1978-2010. (1979 had 1 bus station set, and 1990 had a monorail) 1980-1985 had 5 passenger trains in a 5 year period however, but still ever since 1991 we still get a new one every 4-5 years. (and then there have been some extras via Creator Expert/Harry Potter inbetween) LEGO is certainly moving forward in the last decade. Not that I always agree how LEGO distributes their vehicles however, most of those busses and trams have been in those huge sets only. A set something like this could work for a new release (this set is from 2010, and the last City tram was 2015) maybe take out the car and sweeper. Bus could even be marketed as Electric bus (which do drive in a nearby street here) https://brickset.com/sets/8404-1/Public-Transport-Station -
Why are so many Bricklink sellers from the Netherlands?
TeriXeri replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The Netherlands also has no official LEGO stores (only online, so no physical Pick a Brick Walls) Sure, relatively to the US or something its a small country, and Germany and Belgium LEGO stores are "next door" to them, but not everyone has a car and going by train isn't cheap or viable just for a LEGO store. Also , most generic physical stores can be pretty expensive compared to buying online , I buy most my sets online because there are no Walmarts or Targets type stores anywhere near . And while there are a few larger LEGO-focused shops, they have €5-€8 shipping so only really viable on big orders or good discounts. And again, not near my area. That's just my perspective. I figure people with cars have an easier time compared to people without, but even then, gasoline prices are still one of the highest of europe. -
Identifying Source of NEW Lego Crest on Shield
TeriXeri replied to durazno33's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
A LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is opening in The Netherlands in 2020 (Scheveningen near the city of The Hague), and hopefully with the Merlin being owned by LEGO again that will make it an official LEGO Store. Would be even better if they opened another one in let's say Amsterdam or the International Airport, as a lot of people + tourists travel through there as well, with good road/train/bus connections. -
I liked the concept of the Lego Movie 2 Movie Maker set, I have the set from a gift and the stage/backdrop is a nice build. I'm not 100% on the whole phone/app interaction or microscale builds, but using the paper/cardboard method to get 2 backgrounds is nice. The last thing I'd like to see is LEGO using huge stickered backgrounds. Imagine having the Lightning/Mountains backdrop on the Movie Maker set. I know I could probably make/print my own paper backdrop and use it on the Movie Maker set with something like the Hidden Side sets, actually might be a fun idea.

Always nice to see little buildings made from original vehicle sets. Nice window arches and wall decoration and I like the look of the small doors to enter + kitchen , and the seat/table near the monitor/tv.

While it's not Studios, there's at least a (TV6) news truck in the 2019 Donut shop opening City set, and some more journalists in the Space people pack. https://brickset.com/sets/60233-1/Donut-shop-opening I think it could have easily made it's own small set however instead of being part of this €85 "mega pack" type set. 2014 was the last News Van set but that was a Friends set, and 1997 Town goes back even further. 2015 had a TV6 Helicopter (again in a huge City Square set however), and 2016 had a TV6 transmitter dish in a Fire set. But that tends to be a thing with those large City sets in general, they have many smaller builds, that are just never going to 100% appeal to everyone, but I can also understand LEGO not releasing 20 more smaller CITY sets per year by splitting up those large sets. (shelf space, money, packaging, production factors etc) A TV/Movie Studio set would be cool to see however. Seeing how TV6 seems to be City's TV/News brand, a TV6 building would be nice.

It seems the Year of the Pig promo was very short lived, maybe to clear leftovers.

Interesting for sure. The main reason I focused on the Vatican / Richard 1, Keys/Lions link was mostly because of the Crusades. Then I found the red/blue blocked shield widely used within the history of the Great Britain/United Kingdom. But now I see Leiden has a Lion and Keys within the same picture. Coat of Arms of the Netherlands also uses a Lion (Rampant) : I know I could probably find way more Lions but I don't want to move too far away from this Forum Thread subject, and that one shield thus far is just a one-off as far as we know.

More orders = More people trying to round out VIP points or going for Gift with Purchases or Free Shipping. They even brought back older Gift with Purchase for June, Avengers Tower (Disney/Marvel/Star Wars sets) and Year of the Pig (with Dragon Boat race), in Europe at least, and extended the Rocket Ride by 2 weeks as well. July will see a re-appearance of the "Christmas-in-July" Gift with Purchase.
