  1. Oh you made a Lego camera dolly! Me face hurts from all the smiling!
  2. Great work, I will definitely try this some day.
  3. I know you said that this is not intended to be a review, but reading it is helpful in a same way, when I'm considering whether to buy this set or not. So thank you for taking the time to write this, and thank you for the great photos.
  4. Well, among other things, his (and his colleagues', kudos to all of you) implementation of the Grove mobile crane is one the reasons I got back into Technic so intensively. I had bought my first sets after the dark ages, but what really got me going, was the Grove. I still don't have all the parts, but soon...
  5. I just picked up the 8070 Super Car in an excellent condition, with manuals, for 70 Eur. Happy!
  6. So far I've only built each set once and then disassembled for modding and mocing. I'd like to have a collection of built models, but then I think I would never have enough parts ready to be used elsewhere...
  7. Well, both are satisfying sets to have and build, so your options are great. The Arocs has much more pieces and it's more complex. It's a better platform for modding and MOCing because of the number of pieces. It also has pneumatis, which are fun. All in all, I think the Arocs is the best Technic set of them all. But, the Volvo has one very important asset, which is the remote control. It has the servo motor and a complete RC, so if you think you might want to build something with an RC, it has you covered. I suggest you weigh the importance of these to you: - lots of parts with a more challenging / satisfying build (Arocs) - pneumatics (Arocs) - RC with 3 motors (Volvo) I hope this helps even a bit. Have you checked the working place thread at http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86174, it may give you some inspiration.
  8. I do, but mostly for parts. Of course I will build it first. But since my goal is to have enough Lego to have them make whitecaps in the living room, this will be a good set for me.
  9. Well, you could buy Vesa Lehtimäki's book! Maybe it would be an inspiration to your already excellent photography. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1465440097
  10. I am pondering here with the exact same question. I really like the Arocs, and that probably means I will also like the Unimog.
  11. Also the original Wolkswagen Beetle was designed in a way, that a minimal amount of parts had to be changed between left and right sided steering. We still have a '65 Beetle and you can clearly see how its's done.
  12. Use both to create one ultimate 8860 and post photos! Or has it been made already... I have to look.
  13. Hello, I'm looking forward to building the Grove GMK6400 MOC some day. I have one 42009 mobile crane and I'm hunting for a bargain to get a second one. Then one day, there was two of them, brand new, at an online retailer close to me for 179 Eur a piece. It wasn't a killer deal, so I hesitated too long. Decided to buy it the next day, and of course they were gone. The more time passes, the more annoyed I am at myself for not buying. I can get a used one cheaper of course, but new is new. Could have even bought both. Do you have a story of a bargain you missed, a deal you never took?
  14. That's my all-time favourite! As you can see in my profile icon :)
  15. True! Fortunately, in the actual profile photo, the crop is different because it's a square. But yes, you should go all the way when dressing up for the shoot. Who knows what the photographer might put into your hands!
  16. I try to keep it fun, because it's an old hobby that has become a job :)
  17. He's not going to use it anywhere. Just having some fun :). We also did a classic style photo with him holding a book about cookies.
  18. Actually he doesn't have any Lego. He just needed business style profile pics, so we did a few different at my studio :)
  19. Did some profile pictures for a friend today.
  20. Just got my first Star Wars set. I got the Millennium Falcon for 101 Eur, a pretty good discount.
  21. My honest recommendation is not to combine small sets, but instead go for the bigger ones. With bigger sets, the building experience is usually great. Unless of course you are buying for parts and get a good discount on smaller sets. I think the 42042 is fantastic. I actually bought two, because it's such a great platform for modding into a big big Liebherr crane. But first I just built the basic crane and it was a really good experience. I'd say it's quite close to the Arocs actually.
  22. A big firewood processor :) https://palax.fi/en/klapikoneet/pyoeroeteraekoneet/palax-power-70-ja-70-s.html
  23. Also, when I watch something Technic-related on Youtube, I might get an ad for Ninjago or Star Wars, but I've never seen Technic advertising in Youtube.
  24. Can't see my floor
