  1. Ok, I didn't know that. Maybe that's it then. All the better, because there's value in those pumps.
  2. If those are catalogue prices, street prices may still be about the same as here. I haven't seen the new catalogue here, but many shops here sell maybe 10% off the catalogue price to stay ahead of competition.
  3. Having two different pumps in a set seems possible, but not obvious. At least not to me.
  4. I love that old set. Now it's been brought back to life.
  5. In the box art it seems that there are instructions for motorizing the arm. Other that motorizing the pump, I don't know how they do it. On the other hand, it does not look like they are motorizing the pump.
  6. One more question now that we know it's a LiPo battery (which is good news!): What kind of protection are you building, regarding overcharging the battery?
  7. It's starting to look funny, because they really advertised it to be almost exclusively available online. Only afterwards it seems to be available anywhere but.

  9. Hsrd to say... The connector will be wired to the chip, but whether they listen to it or not, cannot tell.
  10. I think it's a good compromise, because with more than four motors you might be considering putting in another standard battery box along with the receiver. Not in all cases, but in many. Edit: Just noticed that you can actually drive two XL motors with each channel. Agreed 100% that te tactile feel is essential. On the other hand, nothing stops them from opening an API so that someone can connect to the software with a BT game controller. At least in Android, as I'm not sure the controllers work with iOS.
  11. They appeared on a Finnish store pages too. The prices are not as bad as I thought they would be, so I mit actually be able to afford some of these. 42055 - 226,90 Eur 42054 - 159,90 Eur 42053 - 94,90 Eur These include the VAT of 24%. The reason I was afraid of high prices, was that the Porsche costs 350 Eur in the Lego shop for Finland, instead of the 300 it's supposed to. Apparently, the street prices are a little bit better. https://www.karkkainen.com/verkkokauppa/haku/Lego%20technic#!spos=202_2_26
  12. I think retaining some manual functions is quite ok. It would be a whole different matter, if it couldn't be done at all.
  13. It's very important to stay hydrated during long building sessions.
  14. Here's my place. Earlier I was building on my desk, but now it's my mini photo studio, and I'm building on my dinner table. And here's the mini studio:
  15. What do you think about a "photo of the day"-style thread? What I mean is mostly non-lego photography, because the Lego photography is pretty well covered already. But since there must be many photo hobbyists and probably also professionals, how about sharing some of the day's mood in a dedicated thread? The way it works on some of the other forums is that there's a new topic for each month, started the 1st day. Then there's a link collection pointing to each of the earlier threads in the first post. It should not be a competition and there are no themes. Anything is fine, as long as it's Safe for work and follows the rules of the forums. I didn't want to rush in and just create such topic, because maybe you moderators have an opinion on whether this kind of thread fits the forums.
  16. I also recommend Lightroom. It's a very versatile program and can handle a massive amount of photos. I use Lightroom for editing the photos, unless I need to do some actual image manipulation. Then I turn to Photoshop. I tether or download from camera to my rMBP and usually edit on the internal SSD. Then I move the photos (still working inside Lightroom catalog) to a 2.5" USB3 drive where I can continue editing and store the photos. I keep the last few months' work on that drive for easy access. If I need to work on photos beyond the last few months, I download the originals from the cloud. I use the unlimited Amazon Cloud service, where I upload everything as soon as I come home from the shoot. Remember also to back up the catalog file(s)! And also, think about the file format. I'm using dng with embedded raw and jpeg. I hope it will be readable long after Adobe or any other company has been bought, turned around and sold twice over.

  18. It may be touch-oriented, but it's far from responsive. Constant zooming in and out is needed, sometimes the page cannot fit on screen, buttons respond only when pressed twice etc.
  19. Having just finished building the 8880 last Sunday, this is looking very nice. It was a really fun build. But as I was also living my dark ages when it was released, I don't have a special connection to the set, like I do with the 8860 Car Chassis. If only I had the time to make an attempt to do the same for the 8860 as you did... Yours is very well executed.
  20. The mouse with the earring kinda looked like a hamster though...

  22. Arocs is now 168,89 Eur on amazon.de. Seems to be free delivery, too. Although I'm not sure where exactly that applies.

  24. Well, maybe the simplest explanation is the right one. It has all the parts, and we've estimated incorrectly.
