  1. Very, very valid points. An excellent post.
  2. Your constructive response kind of proves my point in many ways.. and you could say that (if thats the best response you have). Except mine is in response the dull pointless repetitive haters... (which is only minority of the this forum, its just a very loud minority that fill up threads with 30 pages of bitching) I'm not the instigator, therefore i'm slightly less guilty. Every time a set appears, what do you hear?! "oooo i hate c+", "ooo i could better", "ooo colour vomit"... Everything was better when everything was worse according the 'wise ones'. Well guess what?!!!! Technic was WORSE in the past... I've had technic since 1978, i know of what i speak. Todays technic is the stuff of wet dreams to the lego fans of the 70's, 80's and 90's. If this forum was a pub or a coffee shop, no one go in!!! Will i apologise for bitching about being sick of listening to meaning whiners?!! No will i hell. Am i wrong to defend TLG against this loud minority? No i'm not... I thought the 'F' in afol stood for Fans?!!! Ha!!
  3. Lets not restrict it to a specific set, lets cast the net a little wider! Negative assumptions upon every leak. Massive criticism before the sets even been seen in the flesh. Just the general negative waves.... i hardly read the forum anymore, predictably the same old haters, hating on TLG. Rewind, repeat. Rewind, repeat.(but they still buy the sets...) Only come here for the pictures of interesting mocs and new sets
  4. Couldn't disagree more. I've wanted wider tracks for a while. I'd love them to be rubber rather than plastic too, but wider is better. And it not a 'bad new' as they still make the old one.. they're not discontinued!! Its not like you're being forced to use a new wider piece... Negativity for the sale of it!
  5. ..lets hope @Jim does a glass-half-full review to compensate for his glass-half-empty one then!! Seriously though, i always find my personal experience on buying the set to be more in line with jim's perspective than sariels. Others will no doubt have the opposite experience!
  6. A proper technic moc! Love it. Always great to see agriculture getting a mention.. my favourite subject! This older style tractor really works well in lego. I've got half an idea that 42100 would give me enough white parts for a big bud!! Just one comment - if the articulation point is in the centre, you don't need a central diff. But thats a minor point, overall i love it. Lots of cogs and stuff going on inside it, just like technic should be!!
  7. Strong words indeed! Perhaps it could have been phrased a little better... There's clearly some inside information floating around, as there usually is. There's often some inaccurate guesswork too, but this time i don't think its guesswork. Hopefully the info is correct as a nice gearbox would sweeten the set. I already want it, less motors and more gearboxes than 42100 sounds just fine to me... once the 30% reductions arrive!!
  8. Already i am excited to see this moc develop! this may help with dimensions... https://www.ritchiespecs.com/model/claas-lexion-570-plus-terra-trac-combine
  9. I get what you're saying.. the full RRP is shocking, especially with a single hub. Only paying 260gbp ish will be measured at TLG. They will know what the average retail price achieved was, and no doubt fully realise they will not get the RRP. So paying 260 does send a 'vote' to TLG in some respects. But equally, if the purchase decision is to be viewed as vote, voting for TLG rather than a counterfeit brand feels a good thing. But i'd rather my 'vote' cost less.. I tend to only buy one flagship set a year, i'm fortunate to have a decent sized collection so parts aren't the issue. I buy sets for new parts (recently the diffs and planetary's), and because i love the building process. So my entire lego spend in 2020 was £260 for 42100 and about another 30 or 40 on diffs etc. £300 for an entire year is ok for me. Less than some people spend on cigarettes in a month!! But everyones circumstances are different, and fully understand that. Just rationalising from my perspective.
  10. What's everyone's best deals on 42100.. thats the price thats likely to be paid by most people. I think i paid £235 ish but can't remember for sure. Just found the email. Its was £260.. I'd pay 260 GBP for 42131.
  11. Its a definite purchase for me (once the 30% off offers arrive...). I'm pleased to say that i remained positive throughout that this would be a great set despite the leaked images.. What an outstanding year for technic!! Those yellow tracks.... the raised ridges on them will be great on carpets but terrible on hard surfaces, unless the material has changed from hard plastic to something more rubbery? (ps Enough of the anti-C+ already! We heard you on the last 4 sets, c+ is here, this is a c+ set. Live with it!!)
  12. There is a more important question.... Do you want to see real bricks, or just a graphical render? WIP or finished doesn't bother me, but when someone posts a moc and its just some graphics, for me its not really lego. Build the thing, then i'll be interested! I know others disagree.. but thats only healthy!
  13. Instantly recognisable! There's a few of those around here, you have you look pretty much spot on. Great moc, really like it.
  14. So you took the off-the-shelf toy into the woods, outside of the its intended environment and proved it wasn't as good as purpose built 6x6 mocs. Mmm.... I presume for a valid test the Mocs will go through TLG's internal release program to see if any can compete in the commercial viability sector?? Because unless you do, the test is heavily biased to the point of irrelevance. The only fatal flaw here is the ill-conceived test.... TLG bashing with no valid basis of comparison.
  15. Crikey, harsh scoring! But its all subjective.. For me personally, @Jim 's scores feel closer.
  16. Excellent review as always. Scoring seems fair to me, but scores are very subjective so there's no real right or wrong. I like this set a lot. I thought i would, and i do! I mentioned in the main thread that the building experience looked like it should good... and this seems to be the case. I love the diff locks and the gearbox, there's not too much bodywork as i find all those pretty bits boring to build!! The rrp is high, but nothing is actually bought for the full rrp.. Strongly suspect this will be around £200 with discounts in the uk, and thats ok with me.. i'd prefer 150, but some people spend 200 on cigarettes and beer in a couple of weeks. I don't do either, so if Lego is my 'vice' then i'm happy with that!! Looking forward to getting this!
  17. My posting history agrees 100%! Anyway, i'm very excited for this set and its reviews. Its looking like an excellent technic year!
  18. Learn something every day. (not Milan the mod then? Very confusing...!!) I like builds that feel like proper technic. Claas really disappointed me, very fiddly building random bits. This build looks great, proper technic. Like the BWE, awesome build.. and Arocs. Also an awesome build. I should look-up who designs what, perhaps my favourite builds align with certain designers. I've often been quite outspoken about the very loud (minority) slating sets long before they've been released. Claiming they could do better (42082 anyone?! Still never seen the better version have we?!!), and I also commented that it must be awful for any TLG employees who view the forum sometimes - I never realised that a technic designer was actually on here. Maximum respect to @grohl .. Skill, professionalism and a quiet dignity!! A better man than me!!
  19. Thanks, i don't really follow who designs which set to be honest - The same Milan thats on this forum?
  20. This set looks to be a credit to Mr Kossmann (assuming he was the designer?). Eagerly awaiting the reviews, but from what i've seen the build looks pretty enjoyable and the end result seems excellent.
  21. This looks a pretty interesting build - was this ever really 6x6? Looking at how resolved this design is, it looks unlikely. There was some negativity on the thread relating to it having 'only' 2 axles... a great example of why its best to wait and see before poo-pooing! Definite buy for me.
  22. Looks an enjoyable build to me, and the finished model looks great. 42129 also looks excellent so far... we'll see once the embargo lifts! But at the moment both these sets are on my 'buy' list (once the discounts arrive, not at full money!!) Just need the Cat bulldozer to be a winner too and it could be an epic year for lego... and for my wallet!! @Jim i'm sure this has already been asked, but are you reviewing these sets? Your reviews were always very balanced assessments..
  23. Does the embargo lift today? 12th rings a bell but i could be wrong...
  24. Its brilliant to see the trial and error and experiments done using real bricks (this is how i work too), so many mocs are presented as renders which leaves me a little cold. Great to this in genuine real lego!! And a great moc too!
  25. CVT isn't involved in the 4wd ratio's. Tractors have fully lockable 4 wheel drive with just a gear ratio to compensate for the wheel size difference, drive to the front axle is engaged/disengaged via a clutch, which is why tyre sizes need to be from the same Group. For example Group46 for front and rear to maintain the ratio, CVT just replaces the gearbox to provide ground speed control. Its just a posh transmission. The output from the CVT is just like a normal gearbox output, it goes to the rear axle full time, and the front axle via a clutch. The exception of course is the latest Fendt that use Hydrostatic IVT transmissions, separate ones for each axle.. but that i fear is currently beyond technic!(at least in a sensible scale!!)
