The future of StarWars media expansion and collecting.
RetroInferno replied to RetroInferno's topic in LEGO Star Wars
You are right about episode VII, I won't collect that whole trilogy, except for some sets here and there if they are nice. The Han solo stand alone film will likely not produce anything really interesting either. I very largely stood up with only collecting OT stuff, and I could expand with any-thing related to Starwars's underworld or set near the OT stuff ( especially Rogue One, which is bold enough to make something new, despite knowing already how it ends ). -

It's perfectly fine to wait if you like the movie of course! And nah the tank was showcased on both trailers, we even see it fire at a building. -

That's funny because the AT-ST is the only vehicle that did not appear in any Rogue One adds or promo material for the movie, even though it's a classic vehicle. All the other vehicles have been showcased with no features missing and all colors seem accurate. -

Judge any mini-figs with extreme prejudice in these preliminary images, they always use a place holder image of the mini fig's latest iteration, so it's very unlikely to be the same fig. -

The future of StarWars media expansion and collecting.
RetroInferno posted a topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hello everyone, With all the new media production planned for Starwars ( and the massive and constant new waves of derived products, Lego included ), what do you guys think the impact will be for the hobby in the coming years? Many people tend to stay on the same path when buying Lego Starwars, they either stick to OT or PT, a bit of everything and rarely stray from their formula, either be it monetary reasons, collection consistency or simply by taste. But now since 2015, we'll get a new Starwars movie until probably the rest of our lives, which means a truckload of new material. While Starwars does not get it as bad like Marvel ( meaning not releasing 39 new movies a year ), do you think you'll have to expand your collection to new eras that will be featured, or simply stick with a reduced number of sets for the already existing you already have and love? Thanks for sharing your opinions! S-P -
What was the last movie you watched?
RetroInferno replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I just rewatched A New Hope and Revenge of the Sith. I forgot how ANH is enjoyable, the final battle over Yavin NEVER gets old and seeing the gang at the end being all happy together.... :) And to screw everything up I watched Revenge of the Sith, and jesus christ the movie is frustrating and sad to watch. -
These chinese molds must be a lot cheaper, they have a shorter production run ( I would guess ) and can skip on the tolerance of the mold. Lego molds last for around 120, 000, 000 bricks, which I doubt the chinese equipement would last. I also re-checked the costs and they can go as cheap as 10, 000$, and go up to 300,000$.

Thanks for the in-depht review! My father holds an architecture collection and this one did not particulary catched his eyes. It's not a bad set but I think the scale of the thing is a bit too small :(

Aventures in the jungle.
RetroInferno replied to wallyjarek's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great set! It's always a major plus integrating subtle play features and not to be excessive with the piece count. I now just spotted the hidden skeleton on the left :D I guess I'm not the only want that's want to see a Johnny Thunder reboot in the jungle?- 4 replies

Honestly very surprised by the Tie Stryker! The lenght, size and shape are excellent and the photos really don't make the thing justice! -
It felt a lot like the last episode with Bendu, Kanan and the spiders all over again. Forresto may be right with Maul's goal too :)

The UCS Y-Wing canopy wasn't printed though, those were stickers.

What do you do with leftover battle packs?
RetroInferno replied to Kimguroo's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I usually build them and put them in a storage box; some people sell the stuff or use the parts for MOCs.... -

Yeah someone used Han's pants from the TFA falcon and the result was really nice. -
Me too! I always wanted some sort of Starwars side story with a bunch of badasses on a suicide mission, a lot like Mass Effect 2. Force Awakens was servicable and I liked it, it established a good base for the other movies but c'mon it's a soft reboot of a A New Hope.

Molds for new pieces cost several thousands $$$ ( between 25 000 to 150 000$ ) I don't fully agree with the lack of molds regarding the Star wars line in general, if we look at Rogue One we have a fantastic new Death trooper mold, one used for both hover tank pilots and shore troopers, 2 new helmets for rebel troopers, 1 new helmet for Pao, 1 new helmet for the Imperial ground crew, Bistan's head mold, Jyn has a brand new cap with integrated micro. We even have what appears to be Moroff for the winter wave. That's a lot of new molds! If you speak about alien molds, yeah, a lot of species have yet to be molded, but a lot have been done too, mostly the most important ones. The 2014 cantina set was somewhat of a letdown because they focused on the main cast and a lot of aliens species was left out ( At least we have Biths now, which are awesome ). My only complaint is about lack of dual molding for some of the legs and arm side prints that should be present on some characters with insigna.

LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
RetroInferno replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
These 2 new battlepacks are really intriguing, as they covered already a lot of stuff in recent years. - Could be a scariff based Imperial forces BP with shore troopers and technicians. - Prequel stuff, they never did a decent Phase 1 clones BP, and regualr Phase 2 would be nice for some people. - Tantive IV style of troopers. - Maybe a Rebels one with scout and dark troopers??? I have no other clues on what they might be besides that. They could release another very obscure BP from the Legends canon ( Like a Dark forces 2 pack with Grans and Rhodians ). -

It's a really good model but an expensive one to be sure, I bought it nontheless, I used all of my VIP points for the whole wave and double VIP will be nice for the winter wave :) -
Anyone thinks the AT-ACT is pretty much a given set for the 2017 summer wave?

I did the ( almost traumatic ) experience on Brickset and I own 96 starwars sets, post and before dark age. I never though I had that many!

I really agree on that, the covers don't really make justice to the AT-ST and the U-wing.
