Saw that olive green as well, like why is that even there? I looked through a few falcon depictions and the only one where that dark greyish stripe is to be seen is on this one:

The new Millenium Falcon looks great and all, but whats with that one black stripe on the mandible? Must be some designchange form The Last Jedi, because I have never seen that... Also, the round radar dish is basically made via one huge sticker? Come on, there are MOCs of that dish out there that catch the design perfectly with bricks. The new dish got the proper treatment, but not the old. Quite a bummer. And the Minifig-Selection is reaally weak for the biggest and most expensive lego set imo. Nothing exlusive or new in case of characters and the total amount could have been bigger, too. Its basically the skeleton-crew, nothing special like Lando or Old Luke for the new cast.

Nice little review, set looks decent in terms of design, even though Lego could invest a couple more bricks to cover up the holes of the technic beams (they rarely do that with walkers and the like) to improve the display quality by a lot. I personally would not want that set because its looks very unstable and I am just not a big fan of the overall look of the AT-ST (never was, even back in the day). Looking forward for a review on Krennics Shuttle, will be interesting to see how stable and sturdy the main body and the wings are with all that folding and moving they showed!

I own the UCS Slave 1 and it seems very well scaled to minifigs, even though parts of it seem a bit small, especially the upper/front part of the ship (but thats just a feeling, have no idea what the original models measurements are). Aside from that the FO Special Forces Tie Fighter doesnt seem to scale that bad either as does the AT-AP from the ROTS (that one is maybe just a couple of studs too small in terms of height).

Nice modification of this great ship design. The original lego version is already very well done, but this one obviously beats it by a mile. Only thing that seems weird to me is the canopy. Is it not upside down, looks wrong to me

I am excited for the summer wave, but only because I can finally pick up the proper Resistance X Wing. More or less the only set I am actually interested in (The Tie Advanced/A Wing doesnt look too shabby either, but I already have the normal Tie and the Fury Interceptor which is enough), and one that I will probably mod to hell. Arent there already MODs of the existing POE X-Wing that changed the X-Foil mechanism so it doesnt require the rubber bands?

The biggest bummer for me is still on what this set is focused on. Its a bit of everything and doesnt do any of its parts justice in UCS standards. They should have just named this Hoth Base instead of Hoth Attack, leave the vehicles and the imperial stuff out and focus on the god damn base. Hell the command center of the last Hoth Base was miles better than the one from this UCS, which cant even be called "command center". They should have taken the decent main gates and build everything around that with a proper and accurate command center, a proper Ion Cannon and a shield generator. Everything else is just completely unnecessary and takes away parts that could have been made into seperate smaller sets that could served as a way to enhance your display focused UCS set with play features IF you so desire. Not forcing this on the consumers and deliver a product that has barely any demand because it doesnt fit in any of the traditional lego buyer categories.

Insane dude. I just dont know how people are able to create stuff like this. Not only does that behemoth look marvelous from the side especially with those angles and greebling, it also features an equally impressive interior (havent seen a combination like that before and I am truly impressed!) Any idea how many pieces this ship consists of? My wild guess would be at least 8 - 10k pieces...
-
Yes, this looks fantastic and is not even comparable to the trash we got from the new Hoth Set! It looks like it would make for a great display with the angled built around the hillside and due to the control center it even looks good from behind! Would love to see it build with real bricks and maybe a bit adjusted in its shape. Unfortunately this will never have a chance trough lego ideas. Not only is it Star Wars themed (and those just dont have a chance in general on Lego Ideas probably because of licensing or to secure a consistent "quality standard" for SW sets (which is mostly inferior to what people MOC). And it also collides with their newest set and they would never accept this failure of a hoth set by offering a part of it as a superior official build)

50 bucks cheaper + No UCS = Fine. The way it is, its absolutely unacceptable!
-
Waiting for the new UCS snowspeeder to arrive only next year is a really sad to me. I am definitely hyped for that one the most Btw: Are there any news of release dates for the upcoming summer sets of Star Wars? Havent heard anything yet.
-
I do. Being lazy as hell since they pretty much print money with the new trilogy again without investing much effort in both designs and production costs (especially fair price per part ratios)
-
Oh yes the price-per-part ratio seems to be soo totally very fair. Its all above 10 cents per piece (as usual)
-
And here I hoped we would get EP7 Luke but oh noooo, that would be way too expensive (prints you know, they cost a fortune obviously...) for Lego who already earns mountains of money. Its pretty obvious how the quality of Lego drops into near abysmal territory when they are just too comfortable with their financial situation (No wonder after the ep7 boost)
-
My best guess: They simply dont and if they get directly confronted with it just deny any controversy about it. Would seem like a fitting reaction for a company such as Lego...
-
Nice to see that those ship designs are still "alive". They definitely deserve it! Even though bricklinking complete constructions is insanely expensive, this one might be the highest on my list that I would ever do if I can ever find the money and stamina to get the parts

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
BigEl replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
In case he is not: No we are definitely NOT going to see any Clone Wars sets in the near future, or in any future really. The series is dead and he a successor with Rebels. Lego would have no reason to crank out more Clone Wars sets (thankfully ) -
What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars minifigures?
BigEl replied to Darthking623's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Its also nice to see some mentions of the most recent Darth Vader figure with the printing and especially the new helmet mold since a lot of people dont really seem to like it. I personally think, even if its still not perfect, its a whole lot better than the old one we now had since the beginning of Lego SW which just was too small and made the mask look rather cute than menacing Would definitely be in my list if I had the minifig, but the Final Duel Set just doesnt offer anything else I would really want to have... -

Dagobah and Cloud City Luke need a god damn new version, but Lego just refuses to make new small/medium sized sets to the scenes of ESB... how are you supposed to properly reenact the duel on bespin with a brand new vader and no luke @JPN366 Nice to see a fan of the AT-AT Driver. It would definitely be one of my honorable mentions and is definitely the most interesting imperial soldier of the OT due to its unique colourization -
[LDD][MOD] Kylo Ren's Upsilon-class Shuttle
BigEl replied to LegoStarWarsLDDShop's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Looks very nice, reminds me of the version jangbricks made The only thing that bugs me a bit is that the central front part with the view port is one stud too thick, is it possible to reduce the width to only two studs? Reference:- 22 replies

Wow man, just wow. The official Legs looks like a pathetic teaser compared to your mindblowing MOC (come on, this cant be called MOD anymore). It may not be a super realistic minifig scale Carbonite Freezing Chamber (there is one that someone made that looked even better but the part count was probably ridicolously high) but I actually like when people mod/moc official lego sets into something that is so much better yet still able to kinda stay with the general style of the official lego build (in this case the good looking stairs, colour choices and parts of the main plattform). It just shows how much more potential the official sets really have if Lego would follow a different marketing philosophy. Interestingly enough this would even work as an official UCS Cloud City/Bespin Set for me. Of course you could add a lot more rooms and scenes to such a "themed" build, but your final version, together with your previous MOC, feature the 2 most important and iconic scenes from Bespin and include all the important minifigs (only Lando missing). Designers of the "UCS" Hoth Set should have taking this one as an example of how to do it right! Most favorite part for me is the claw/roof part of the freezing chamber, it just adds so much depth to the scenery its amazing! Only thing that could maybe use a bit of reinforcement is the upper floor that connects with the 2nd scene if you display it together. For the freezing chamber alone its totally fine.

Just finished building my sith fury interceptor and that thing instantly went up and took the 4th place in my ranking, placing itself over the FO Tie Fighter and kicking the AT-AP from the list. Its too small for its system scale in comparison to other ships lego made like the millenium falcon and the back door woobles around when its closed, but its a massive, complex and challenging build wth a phenomenal looking outcome. Even the flick fire missiles are accurate and feel well integrated in the design...
-
A good starting point for a MOC interior? Maybe... but after spending nearly 300 bucks what money is there left to MOC it? The european prices for this "UCS" set will be even more ridiculous than US or british prices, i mean already listed in the netherlands for 280 Euro? Thats 310 Dollars
-
I absolutely agree. And it worries me a bit when I look at the quality and innovation of sets since the first TFA wave. There are some that are nice, but nothing really groundbreaking and all in all, especially considering the winter wave and upcoming summer wave, its just very underwhelming to me. Combined with the crazy prices in a lot of cases the new lego star wars just feels wrong to me... It will be interesting to see though what Lego will deliver with Rogue One Sets and if this trend will continue.

[MOD/MOC] A New Generation - Resistance X-Wing Microfighter - 75125
BigEl replied to BigEl's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks. Well there could still fit a minifig inside if you would remove the brick and plate that the trans-clear cockpit parts are connected to. But I am not really a fan of that microfighter idea and prefer the approach of a realistic design that is scaled down. Small and final update on the build: Much more sleeker and with some adjustments in the colourization (nose, blue stripe on the hull, droidhead is now silver instead of the flashy white) as well as some company for the pilot minifig
