The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
BigEl replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I highly doubt that we will ever get an UCS AT-AT, the Falcon is much more possible, but I dont know. Maybe we get an UCS First Order Star Destroyer instead of the Imperial Version, would make more sense since it would be the first version and would fit inbetween Episode 7 and 8. -
Good Question. As dmaclego already pointed out the main problem that probably will prevent an official Lego UCS AT-AT forever is the durability. I dont know exactly how heavy cavegods AT-AT or this AT-AT is, but I guess it is so heavy that they are extremely unstable both in terms of just standing on the 4 feet as well as the weight on the plastic construction itself. So the general design of the AT-AT as a Walker probably prevents any potential for an official UCS.

Just found this on brickset: http://brickset.com/sets/30605-1/Finn-%28FN-2187%29 Is it a new polybag or was it already known? (Finn in Stormtrooper Armor after crash landing)

Absolutely fantastic looking. You can tell how popular the good ol AT-AT is by how many breathtaking MOCs are out there. This is definitely one of them

If I had to guess I would say that the screen time can be compared to the lambda class shuttle, I mean its not involved in anything major, its there to get the job done and make an intimidating impression, and in that regard it succeeded the Imperial Shuttle big time! So yeah, still think it can become an iconic ship, especially since there arent that many new interesting ships in the first place...

I think amazingbricks said that the Turbo Tank will be a Remake of the 2005 Version, which was a realistic style Kashyyyk Version.

I have to say I dont like the version with the huge rounded Slope-Pieces at all (Jeracs Version and similar), the proportions between the canopy and the surface make it look very strange and not accurate at all. I understand its the best way to get the front in the right shape, but it sacrifies a lot of the intimidating design thats created mainly by the canopy.

I recommend you check out some videos on youtube to get a clearer picture of the Walker, to me its one of the better Lego SW Sets. The price is good for what you get, the Walker is pretty big and the build was quite a bit of fun as there are some interesting building techniques. The negative points for the AT-AP are to me: - Sparse backside and interior - Cant pose the two main legs But hey, I can confirm that it has very decent potential to be customized and modded to look a lot better

Wow, thanks for a full list. Might be doing it now myself, was just too lazy to plan it out You listed the necessary parts for 9 of the segments, but its 12 in total (I counted them again to be sure ), so I guess 3 of the segments can remain unmodified?

Looks good, but maybe use blue instead of the classic yellow for the cockpit area. Would get it maybe more in line with the Resistance X-Wing ;)

Well I guess its kinda nice that there is a chance of real nice opportunities to get lego sets on sale, since their prices tend to fluctuate quite a bit. When it comes to the price-per-part ratio, are there any realistic estimates for costs and profit? As far as I know Lego themselves stay pretty confidential on the whole matter for obvious reasons, but I would say as well that even 10 cents per piece, which is considered normal, is far overpriced.

Bought the Kashyyyk Troopers BP today for the normal price of 17 Euro at a retailer to flesh out my custom AT-AP... just crazy how the prices explode when availability starts to drop, amazon lists the BP already for 29 euros.

And with that both Lego as well as the movie are wrong since they stuffed the wrong TIE Pilots in the two Tie Fighter variants What a funny coincidence that both messed it up in reverse...
-
I am sorry but thats just unrealistic wishful thinking. First Order Star Destroyer for 100 Bucks? What would that model look like? The last one already was 130 Dollar and I dont think they will make one that would be a lot smaller. The chances are a lot higher to get it later or even with episode 8 and then it would cost at least 130 Dollar, probably more.
-
I meant the price discussion regarding the new summer wave list that has the prices labeled already without any other information.
-
To all the people who already complain about the prices.... Guys, we dont know anything specific about the content we get (partcount, minifigs, printed pieces, new molds), so how about we wait at least for pictures to arrive before we talk good/bad prices.
-
We had them in 1 set as of right now and that was a battlepack... Next up is 1 Standard Kashyyyk Clone in the new Homing Spider Droid.... how is that "so many" ??
-
A new Commander Cody with the level of quality we got with recent Commander Gree would be fantastic, but I dont see how he fits a Turbo Tank in any way. Based by the movies we only see him related to Utapau, and there werent any Turbo Tanks. Luminara in line with the Kashyyyk Theme seems much more likely (since we already get Yoda with the Homing Spider Droid).
-
Seriously, its still completely wrong.... the color, the wings and the front view port
-
Wohoo, I knew it
-
Could be the case for the 270 Dollar "UCS" Hoth Echo Base. Everyone expecting something remotely similar to the Death Star and what they get in the end is another Ewok Village in size or even smaller
-
Wow thats quite a list. I personally avoid any of the New January Sets because I already know that I will want to have way too many of the upcoming Summer Wave Sets + UCS Sets
-
But it would make sense if they continue with a Kashyyyk-Style Turbo Tank. Its the only place where we see it in the Movies. I mean look at the upcoming new Homing Spider Droid that features a Kashyyyk Clone and Yoda (both present in the Battle of Kashyyyk), even though we dont even see the Homing Spider Droid in the battle of kashyyyk in Episode 3 (If i recall correctly). The boxart of the Spider Droid is clearly Kashyyk as well. And actually the new Kashyyyk Troopers will only be featured in two sets (Battlepack + Homing Spider Droid) until the Turbo Tank, so its not necessarily oversaturated (AT-AP only had Commander Gree, no Troopers). My guess is a Ep.3 Turbo Tank that could maybe include a new Luminara Unduli (we see her on kashyyyk) + a varity of Turbo Tank Crew Clones and maybe 1 - 2 more Clone Troopers in Kashyyyk Camo. Honestly I wouldnt be too hopeful for any more popular Clone Commanders to be included in the current Prequel Line, like Cody for example.
-
Well, we still have to wait for any real prove of a new Turbo Tank, so any more specific information as of right now seems very unlikely. But if we are going to assume, I will say what I said a few pages back: I heavily doubt that it will be a Clone Wars Version. The reasons for that: 1. The last version already was a Clone Wars Version 2. Clone Wars Series is dead (focus is on Rebels now), so any more Clone Wars Sets are even more unlikely to happen than Prequel Sets 3. The recent battlepacks were all realistic-style movie-based Clones (Kashyyk, Utapau, Geonosis) & 4. We got a realistic style AT-AP last year and we get a realistic style new Homing Spider Droid now, just wouldnt fit the current line of realistic Prequel-Era to bring back a Clone Wars Set And I personally even hope that it will be a movie based/realistic-style Turbo Tank, because I just utterly hate the Clone Wars Animated Series. I also think that they make way better realistic Clone and Jedi Minifigures, the mentioned recent battlepacks and Sets feature some of the best in quality and detail ever in my opinion.
