Not really the best place (I would have recommended making a new topic), but I will go ahead and say that I would recommend getting one of the Mata and one of the Metru to start off with. From then you should just pick whatever you think looks cool. I would also recommend checking out BioSector01 and the BioMedia Project, as both of those should help you follow the story.

Yeah, I excluded the numerous uses of Bohrok Eyes and the Blended Flames because they are so common. It still isn't as common as some colors. I am alright with this though- Tr. Red is such a deep red that I feel it does not fit in well with a variety of neon and bright colors Bionicle, especially G2, uses.

Looking at Bricklink's entries under Tr. red, it looks like the following constraction parts have come in that color: Vakama's Disk Mata Brainstalk Metru Brainstalk Vahki Brainstalk Hero Core IfB Egg Pod HF Hexagonal Shield That's scattered across 55 Bionicle sets, 14 Hero Factory sets at least. One more will be added this summer at least- Umarak's mask blended in that color.

Actually, make that orange. Tr. Neon Orange. It goes with the colors of the last two years correlating with Tr. Light Blue and Tr. Neon Green with the Masks of Creation and Control, and I would bet that the Mask of Ultimate Power features the color scheme that is so commonly associated with evil.

Keep in mind that this is a fanmade creaton and isn't made with all the kinds of constraints official designers have. That being said, I do agree that this is an incredible creation and there isn't much on it that makes it look like something that couldn't be released.

The villains in 2017 are obviously going to be Flemoids. Can't wait to see the Toa don cereal-themed armor!

Where can I find new copies of old Bionicle sets?
TheDesuComplex replied to Fulcrumfan91's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Here is a link to the set's Bricklink page. You should definitely be able to find it for under $25 with shipping. Or not if you are looking for it sealed. Doesn't look like ebay has it for a decent price either. -
I was thinking that they used the normal eyestalk, but the 'beast mask' had a gap so the brainstalk doesn't push on it and fling it off when the jaws are moved. Not sure about the alternate masks- I was just thinking thosse couldn't attach anyway. Also, on a way to add friction- I was just thinking that, if a figure has horns, you could use these pinaxles to add a bit of friction without the eyestalk.

Yup, I am betting Ekimu has Umarak's discarded mask and part of defeating him will involve removing the MoCo and replacing it with his former mask.

I believe that he is referring to the fact that companies usually have press releases where they show off official photos. I don't remember Lego doing this, but it is possible.

Considering that he uses the ribcage piece that we already got on Skull Scorpio in Tr. Neon Green, that's definitely the color he uses. I have tried to talk with him before (in an article about the Exo Suit) and I have come to the conclusion that he is just a troll trying to get at your goat. I wouldn't recommend dealing with him.

Bionicle 2016 Story Discussion & Rumors
TheDesuComplex replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I am loving this preview a lot! It's been said many times why this is good with its really good blending of 2D and 3D, and it is really blowing me away. Looking forward to seeing the series in action come Febuary 20th. -
Congrats to TheBrickPal for the recent addition, btw. He has been doing a pretty good job so far. I think part of the issue here is that Brickset doesn't have any constraction-inclined reporters in the UK that where able to attend and therefore the job was placed on Huw. It's not like they will bring along an extra person just to report on a single theme...

Bionicle 2016 Story Discussion & Rumors
TheDesuComplex replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
That isn't something that is exclusive to the Italian Lego community. When I went to my first Lego convention I was told I was a sucker for buying a giant bag of Bionicle parts and later heard someone saying that all constraction is 'close to Megablocks trash' and that I just didn't belong. It doesn't help that there are only three out of ~100 people who is into Constraction. I have mentioned many times before that Constraction is marginalized by the Lego community as a whole, and this shoddy reporting on it is yet another example. -
Yeah, I am ashamed that Constraction never gets any love. Of course there is an anti-Constraction bias in the Lego community at large and here it is rearing its ugly head. I'm just holding out for TTV going to NYTF, as they should get some good info. What I am wondering about is the reports that the wave mostly features Tr. Light Blue as an accent color on the Beasts and Umarak. What? I could have sworn it would be Tr. Neon Green from the prelims and that's a pretty big change. It's also pretty odd that Ekimu is nowhere to be seen, and that combined with people saying Umarak the Destroyer is the same is making me pretty suspicious.

Star Wars Constraction 2016 Discussion
TheDesuComplex replied to Logan McOwen's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Yeah, I was about to warn that Bricks and Pieces is having issues. Good to see that the issue with the constraction pieces is being fixed. Another issue that I have noticed is that the inventories for the Winter 2016 sets where uploaded, but they contain no new pieces or recolors- not even including them with them being 'Out Of Stock'. Use it with caution for the time being. -
That's more a supply thing. Lego has done this many times before, such as with Hero Factory in 2014 and Ninjago this year in the US. It isn't really because it isn't selling well but moreso Lego can produce other things.

Let me guess. A DInosaurs-esque model of an aquatic Dinosaur-related-reptile such as Plesiosaur or a Mosasaur? Heck, you could even make a 'Nessie'.

I can definitely see why you wouldn't like the legs, and I hated them at first too. They actually look pretty humanoid: In humans, the thigh is pretty thick and the shin tapers down to the ankle, which Kopaka conveys really well. The looks that we have been used to, bulky thighs but even bulkier shins, is more of a 'Giant Robot' aesthetic. This, combined with the shoulder joint being inset on the torso, leads me to believe that he is the most humanoid Bionicle figure we have ever gotten. I know that Bionicle figures are not humans and are never meant to BE humans, but he definitely has a level of realism that I can appreciate. For me, Melum was my least favorite part of the set because his function seems really awkward when you use paw pieces in place of wings, and because of how short his legs are it is hard to pose them in anything that isn't stock straight. Any tips for getting it to work well? Yup, the shoulderpads where another pleasant surprise to me because of how they can swivel around and be angled in just the right way to hide his shoulders. I would recommend taking off the shoulderpads and putting Melum on, him or Terak look wonderful as shoulders for Umarak. Heck, I replaced his 'toes' with the claws from Melum so the Shadow Trap you make will be an Ice appropriate one.

REVIEW: 71311 Kopaka and Melum Unity Set
TheDesuComplex replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
After having this duo in-hand, it amazes me just how great Kopaka is. I like how his custom shoulders have the axis of rotation in the torso itself, which is much closer to how actual shoulders work than what we are used to. The Piece of Unification on his legs works really well to represent shin armor thanks to the taper at the bottom, and his thighs being a bit bigger also works well. These small details, combined with the overall proportions of different parts, really does make him feel like the most human Bionicle set we have ever gotten. I am not too sure about his gun though- the stickers on the shield are nice and all, but I can't really get into his gun (or any shooting function for that matter). His sword is great and works well. The Dark Blue shells are an odd choice, sure, but they look pretty great if you put extra stickers from 70788 on it. Melum, on the other hand, isn't that great. I wish his PoU was gold to match his head and crystal armor. I like the gear function, but it does not work well with something that isn't a flying beast. He feels stubby and small compared to Terak. And, of course, he is missing an ice-themed Shadow Trap. In the end, he does NOT feel like he would have stood up as a standalone set and he doesn't add much to Kopaka in Unity form. -

This set is pretty neat! While it is possible to make a CCBS fish (Shoutout to Jawblade!), I am okay with the more Technic-based approach they went for here and glad that its head is blended with Tr. Dark Blue. Not too sure about her functions though- I am not too big of a fan of using the sixshooter as the primary function, and the lever to bring them forward isn't exactly the primary function. I think I may end up giving her a tail flapping function, which I have seen others do before.

I have to say that I don't like Lewa as much as others do. Yeah, he looks pretty good, but he suffers from the weird shoulders, odd weapons, and lack of Flame Yellowish Orange in my eyes. I am also wondering if his yellow axles are hearkening in all odd-length axles being yellow in the future in the same way that red axles where phased in slowly...
-
Tahu, Gali, and Onua all only have custom shoulders. Pohatu and Kopaka have custom shoulders and biceps. Lewa has custom shoulders, biceps, and shins. Take that what you will. To me, though, all the Toa have about the same level of complexity to their shoulders, and Pohatu's/Lewa's custom limb parts are pretty simple. I feel Kopaka is the most complex with his shoulders that actually do quite a lot. And, yeah, it's been mentioned a handful of times now that Kopaka is closer to a $15 set this year (as evidenced by the set being $25 with the $10 Creature, not $30).

Congrats dude! Guess I will be checking my TRU this weekend for sure. There where rumors of them being released (alongside Nexo Knights) on the 20th which I was planning to check anyway.
