Star Wars Constraction 2016 Discussion
TheDesuComplex replied to Logan McOwen's topic in LEGO Action Figures
If you rotate it his arm swings up and down. It is the same function featured in this year's Bionicle sets and most likely only swings his right (lightsaber) arm. -
I bet that, considering you can't see it in the video, whoever leaked it threw it in to troll the fandom. And it sadly looks like many took the bait.

Had anyone noticed that the main render for 71311 is really messed up? Melum's white is offset and it creates a pretty nasty effect. Looking at him in other pictures though, I can really appreciate that they changed the axis of his arms to give him a different function from Terak (It was mentioned earlier that he has a 'hugging' function versus a 'digging' function).

Thank you for compiling the images with links! Lots of very exciting things coming through. Looks like my prediction just two days ago was still pretty off, but I'm alright with that. The torso we have seems to be really awesome! All of the creatures use the same connections, so he can connect to them all. Uxar makes the most sense color-wise.

So I was pondering today as to how the new torso works. At first, I was thinking it used a new custom hip piece with what can best be equated to this turntable with a ball on it, with a 9L bone on top of that forming the core of the majority of the torso. I was looking at Umarak and thinking of the placement of the torso armor, and I've come to a pretty interesting result. Here's a sketch of the resulting piece that could fix this issue: the bottom hip part that we have already seen, and the other part is essentially said turntable with a built in 7M technic beam and a neck joint sticking out of the top. This means that there are no conflicts attaching parts to said beam; the chest armor and Piece of Unification are featured, but it still works with the technic bit attaching the PoU around the front. It's a bit of a specialty part, sure, but it works pretty dang elegantly to make sure there is enough space for everything on the torso. I apologize for the cruddy sketches, but I had to rush when I thought of the idea.

The light piping on the new heads does not really come from the eyeholes, but from light shining in on the top of the mask. Onua and Kopaka's eyes shine really well because their masks let a ton of light into the top; the Protector masks and Skull masks are also great at this.

Bionicle 2016 Story Discussion & Rumors
TheDesuComplex replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Why buy iron ore to make a stainless steel spoon when you can buy sheets of stainless steel? I have a feeling that Kanokas were made seperately as a sort of way to transport Protodermis as a more finished material. I like the idea of using raw elemental crystals a lot though- it fits Ekimu far better, being more of a rustic, skilled artisan than just another metalworker. Here's to hoping it shows up in canon. -
Looks like the orange highlights are indeed put in with the intent of showing Kulta's influence. Interesting, but I think it might have been confirmed before. Pretty basic, but still good information.

I bet that Akida has a lever that flips the guns down and locks them in place for Gali's use in Unity mode. That might be what the wheels are for.

I love modding my sets. When the 2015 sets came out, I had already analyzed them to death and figured out different things to change on them. I've shared my mods before, though, so I won't mention them here. With the 2016 sets I will hold off on modding them- mostly because I will be waiting for people to take the opportunity and rebuild/combine the sets together from the ground up.

I can see the value of it, as it is some extra armor for defense. Onua doesn't really need it as he already has great, bulky shoulderpads, but Kopaka's are rather slim. Once I get them in-hand, I will try an idea thrown around here to bring Terak's paws around on Onua's chest, bulking him out and filling out his gappy shoulders.

I always wondered why they stopped putting launchers in the ammo packs. It's a shame they only did it with the Kanoka, as it would have helped them be more than just, saw, marbles or rubber fish. This made me wonder- what would be the price per mask if mask packs where released today? Surely they would have to be more than that. This also makes me wonder what kind of packaging a modern mask pack would use- is the CMF pouch a good size, or would it have to be different thanks to the shapes and size of masks?

Honestly, I would have rather made all the Creature heads' primary color be Gold. It might have looked out of place on the individual set (maybe make the 'Piece of Unification' Gold as well...?), but it could possibly look better than a silver head on a golden mask.

Yup, it's quite possible! Be warned that Vader is almost exclusively CCBS (what we call the 'Character and Creature Building System'). While the Hulkbuster does include some CCBS and similar ball joints, it is majority normal System bricks. While the two systems are not completely incompatible, it might feel hard at first to integrate the two together. I encourage you to just play around with the pieces until you feel comfortable with it. Lego hasn't really made mechs with a good blend of System and CCBS, and they usually fall into one category or the other. If you are looking into CCBS sets, I would recommend first and foremost the Hero Factory subtheme 'Invasion from Below', which was a 'Pacific Rim'-esque 'people in mechs fighting giant monsters' theme. They include a very sci-fi looking chestplate that connects into a cockpit made specifically to connect to CCBS. For more System-based mechs, some good examples are 'Exo Force' (an anime-inspired mecha theme from the mid-aughts). It's a bit dated, but it has a lot of fun and creative mecha designs. Another good theme is Ninjago; here is a list of some of the mechs it has featured. Chima is also another recent theme that has featured a handful of mechs.

While I still really love that theory, I doubt it will happen. I don't really see how it was mentioned though, as all I read was about color schemes. As far as I know, it isn't that they officially announce the sets and show pictures. The official pictures come out when Lego uploads them to the servers ahead of being available on S@H (in the same way that the MoCr header was found on Lego's image servers), and said pictures usually show up from 2-5 weeks early.

Going into the creatures, I hope that Lego could take this opportunity to reuse some colors that have not been used in a while as secondary colors, following your idea of black being the primary color. My ideas where for Quake to have Dark Bley, Lava to use (Opaque) Orange, and Storm to use (Opaque) Yellow.

We do know for sure that the traps use clicking hinges in the middle, which are visible in the Lego Club picture. And thanks for taking my suggestion as well; I could have sworn they where going to do that anyway at first.

One possibility for new legs could be those 'Plasma Blade' pieces from Galaxy Squad.

Well, they at least had the foresight to switch out the poster this time.

It's far more likely that it is one large piece, as the 'Superhero Chest' part would be pretty dang thin.

Oh man, they look great! Very happy to see that Pohatu uses Dark Tan instead of Dark Brown, which works well, and glad to see that the color changes on Onua stuck as well. Have to say that Kopaka's mask looks really oddly proportioned from this angle. I also don't see the island of Mata Nui on the MoCo's forehead, just runes. Is it in the circle where the mold mark is?

While the masks are still swappable as always, missing the eyestalk sticking out of the back means you cant flick it off using leverage. I think having the shortened eyestalk is far likelier though, in order to give room for the Creature's neck. Having a connection point on the back of the eyestalk could also give a place for the heads to attatch.

With most CCBS sets, you shouldn't have to worry about parts breaking. The new socket they introduced is very sturdy. If anything, you should take them apart so that the socket does not loosen over time. I know that feeling though, I just curled up my 2007-2010 sets in the cans.

I can see one of the pegholes on the shell over the balljoint it is attached to. Pretty sure it's still a 4M shell.

It is definitely far too small sadly. You could always make a tiny Kopaka to put in there though.
