Thanks, now I see it. That will be a really easy mod! These sets are amazing!

I was just thinking about the modularity of Helm's Deep, and now I'm wondering if the section of the Deeping Wall attached to the fortress (with the culvert) can be removed like wall section in Uruk-hai Army can? I think will some simple MODing, the culvert could be moved to the middle of the wall, which would be more fitting. Also, some of you probably won't have this problem, but I plan on buying two Uruk Army sets, so it would be nice if the two wall sections could be on either side of the culvert. I know no one has a definite answer to my question, but I was just wondering if anyone else thinks that the culvert wall can be detacthed.

As much as a brick built Mumak is more likely, I would prefer an elephant mold, four times the size of the old one, redesigned of course, and with tusks the size of the tails of 2007 Castle dragons! Then, most of the build would be the battle tower on it's back. It would be massive, and cost a lot, but, oh, it would be magnificent! Imagine having a row of huge Mumaks charging at a line or Rohirrim!

Bombur's big braid should be connected to his hairpiece. It is too big and prominent to just be printed. As for Thorin, his beard is short enough to be printed, but his hair is longer than Snape's. His hair will have to be a new mold. As for the video game, I hope we get a separate LOTR one. I would love them to explore having more and more hubs in the game. I think it would be cool if you unlock new hubs as the game progresses. So, you could start in a Shire hub, with surrounding areas such as Farmer Maggot's crop and Buckleberry Ferry. Then, Bree, with Weathertop and the bog. Then Rivendell and the Ford of Bruinen. Then Moria, with the Doors of Durin, Balin's Tomb, and the Bridge. Then Lorien, and finally Amon Hen. Then there could be the Emyn Muil and the Dead Marshes, then Fangorn. Then, Edoras, Ithilien, Helm's Deep, Osgiliath, and finally Isengard. Then Minas Tirith, then Minas Morgul and Shelob's lair. Then Pelennor Fields, Cirith Ungol. Finally, The Black Gate and Mount Doom along with Barad Dur. Sorry for all the 'thens', but this could be all of the hubs, in order. Also, this would mean that only the characters related to the scene would be in a certain place. So, Elrond is only in Rivendell, Galadriel in Lorien, the Witch-King at Pelennor, and so forth. Also, you would buy only the characters that go with that hub in that hub store. It would work perfectly! I know that they have tried multiple hubs before, but they never work because they cram all the locations of one film on a small island (Indy 2 ). If they did it this way, you get to travel across Middle-Earth with the characters. It could also work for a Hobbit game, just with similar (Rivendell) and completely new (Carrock, Mirkwood, Esgaroth) locations.

This source may be wrong, but it is curious that there is no video coming out for LOTR. I was expecting them to make a game for all three LOTR films, and then two games, one for each Hobbit film, and then finally a last game combing all three games in one! I know, four games is a bit much, but it would be awesome.

I like it! And (I'm surprised no one else said this) maybe this means new AOTC sets next year!

It is a shame, but how would LEGO make them? With the films, they have something to base the sets and minifigs on. I know that some people may disagree with the way some characters and locations were presented in the films, but for the majority of people (not die-hard fans), what they see in the films is what the characters look like. I don't think it is LEGO's place to determine what a certain character looks like. Kids are less likely to buy a set with a fig based on a book, because they don't have any previous idea of what they look like. But when it comes to the films, the characters are instantly recognizable, and kids will look at these sets and say "Wow, that looks just like the movie!"

Sorry for the double post. I think that a Khazad Dum set would be the perfect place to redesign Gandalf the grey. Also, I think that they should make the hair a beard all one piece, like Hagrid's. I think if they took the Elizabeth Swann hair from POTC and combined it with the new Gandalf beard, all in light bley, that would be perfect! Sure, might look a bit strange, but I think it is the best way about it. Same could be done for Saruman, only the would need to make a completely new mold due to his straight hair. It would make capes a problem, but in Moria, Gandalf loses his cape before he gets to the bridge, and Saruman would look better with a "skirt" piece rather than a cape. Also, on the topic of "skirts", it would work well for Grima and a sick Theoden.

I'm not too upset with the new Gandalf. Sure, the hat could be updated, but it still works. I think the reason Gandalf seems lacking is because he has no leg print, and his staff is lame. Its just a stick. Really, LEGO! Could they not have done at least a cool pice that fits on the top so it looks like his staff! Also, I don't think they should use the "skirt" piece for Gandalf. It would mean he couldn't ride a horse. I prefer only female characters having the "skirts" because it is more fitting (although it does look great on the new Nute Gunray). We will get a Gandalf the White, and that will call for more new molds. He will need new hair, Shadowfax, and maybe a new staff. Anyway, I'm not gonna complain too much about anything. I'm still amazed LEGO is even doing this theme!

Dwarves, not hobbits. And they did a pretty good job spreading 9 Fellowship members over six LOTR sets. Also, there are fewer minor characters in The Hobbit, which will make space for dwarves. It all depends on how many sets there are and how expensive they are. I'm guessing the biggest set could have three or four dwarves, and the others have maybe two or three.

I'm sorry, but I feel that this comment is rude. It may not be my place to say anything, but what you said make you seem very greedy, and you are insinuating that his son should be too. I do not mean to offend, but I just feel that what you said was inappropriate and rude. Anyway, I have a thought on the whole battle pack thing. What if, along with The Hobbit sets, LEGO releases some LOTR BPs. Or even release some in September, as an extra treat, to bridge the gap between this wave and The Hobbit wave. I doubt it will happen, but you never know.
-
I'm not sure about the license agreement when it comes to BPs for LOTR, but POTC had BPs with just figs, so who knows? Also, I would like more horses, but in the end, I would rather have more soldiers and then brick link the horses.
-
That hair would be perfect! What is the cheapest set it is in? I might need to get it!

There has been a discussion about battle packs in the LOTR topic, and it seems that people are in favor of Castle-style BPs. So, I have come up with some ideas. Rohan: one Royal Guard (all that would be needed would be a new scale mail body print and maybe a helmet), four Rohan soldiers (same as in Uruk-hai Army), two with dark green capes and shields and spears, and two with bows and quivers. Also, maybe a barrel with two short swords (gladiator swords) for more options for weapons. Gondor: three basic Gondor soldiers (new helmet, maybe each basic soldier gets a suit of armor with the white tree printed on it), one with a spear and shield (spears the same as the Spartan's, but with a solid black shaft), two with swords and shields (swords same as Aragorn's), then there could be two Rangers of Ithilien, maybe one with reddish brown cape and hood and one with dark green cape and good, both have bows, and then there could be a barrel with two more spears. Isengard: one berserker (maybe a new berserker sword mold), two Uruks with helmets, armor, swords and shields, one with helmet, shield and sword, and one with hair, shield and sword. Mordor: one Mordor Uruk, four Mordor orcs with assorted weapons (we haven't seen many Mordor orcs yet, so I don't have too much to say here). All of these sets would be the same price (probably the price of Gandalf Arrives, maybe less).

I've always wanted to use that hair for male characters, but the fact that the hair doesn't part in the middle at the top makes it look weird. But, that hair was released in an Indy set a few years back in the same color as Legolas's hair, so that could be used.
-
Theoden has a dark tan beard. Eomer's beard isn't quite orange, but more of a dirty blonde color, like Sam's. I think that if we saw that Eomer head with Lucius Malfoy's hair, it would look good.
-
I do think that the Castle BPs is the better way to go, but from what I remember, they weren't sold in stores other than LEGO stores or online. I was just thinking of something that anyone could buy anywhere.
-
I would actually prefer battle packs like the recent SW ones, with two soldiers from two warring factions. There could be a Rohan/Uruk BP, a Gondor/Mordor BP, and so on. Then of course, there would need to be a little thing to build, but those could be like little Mordor catapults, little Uruk ballistas, or a little Gondor trebuchet. Kinda lame, but I would still rather that than just figs.

I just love how well balanced the new horses are! It doesn't look like they will fall over that much, and their poseability will make them great for MOCs and stop motion videos. I just hope they make more in other colours, like dark brown for Brego (Aragorn's horse), white for Shadowfax, and maybe a dark tan or dark grey. And, maybe we will see a new pony piece for the Hobbit sets, since all the dwarves and Bilbo travel on ponies rather than horses.
-
Oh, ya, I forgot about that! I guess I'm just impatient. I've been waiting and wishing for LOTR LEGO (like most others here) since the films came out. These sets are just too good to wait for!
-
I just found a video on the site Gizmodo. It is just kind of an overview of the sets, and it shows the new horses in running positions, which looks really cool! http://gizmodo.com/5884547/exclusive-videos-of-the-new-lego-lord-of-the-rings Also, I was just thinking about the toy fairs and how they are kind of strange. From the way things look, the sets are finished and ready, but we still have to wait four months for them to be on shelves? Why is that? Why the long wait?

I would really love to see Lurtz done up in all his armor and stuff, but I am happy that Lurtz is newborn in the Orc Forge set. I'm planning on getting two of that set, so I feel that the newborn Lurtz could be used as just generic newborn Uruks. But, I really hope we see an Amon Hen set with Lurtz and maybe a new Uruk scout helmet.
-
I feel that this theme is overall better than most when it comes to detail. It seems that LEGO is definitely targeting these sets at older fans rather than kids. The amount of detail and pieces used is phenomenal. I feel like these sets are more like MOCs than sets!
-
Ya, I was amazed when I realized how long it is, and if you look at the recent pic added above, you can see that the outer wall is also capable of modularity, like the Deeping Wall, meaning that one could add on and make the fortress deeper and create more space between the inner and outer walls.
-
That is fantastic! The interior of the outer wall is exactly what I was hoping for! Thanks for posting this!
