Your new avatar is the best! Amazing pics, Grogall! This is possibly the best theme LEGO has ever made, EVER! Every set is fantastic! I love the fact that they included a basic Barrow blade for Sam n the Shelob set. Also, the pic of Frodo, Sam and Gollum standing outside (or inside, I can't tell) of the cave reminds me of the book, because it was both Frodo and Sam who ventured into the tunnel. And of course, form the position of Sam's hand in that pic, it looks like he is feeding Gollum am invisible cookie. The pic with Helm's Deep and Uruk Army is amazing! It gives a real sense of size, and how big someone could make this fortress. My plan is to buy one Helm's Deep and six Uruk Army sets, so I will have the curved wall, then three solid sections of Deeping Wall, then the culvert wall, the three more sections. Plus, my Uruk army will be pretty big, and my Rohan army will also grow quite a bit. Man, I cannot wait for these sets to come out! Amazing!

Here is a picture of the bigature from the film. http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0bqR6bq5dh4Wv/610x.jpg I don't think the trolls belly is too drastic. It looks as it should.

Just finished reading Mockingjay. Amazing and intense is all I can say. I don't know how they will be able to complete these films without making them R rated. They need to be R, or else justice won't be done to them.

I saw the movie a couple days ago, and I have mixed feelings about it. Overall, they did a good job on the film. But there were many things that I felt hurt the film. Firstly, it just seemed like the filmmakers were assuming everyone had read the books, so there were many things that were left unexplained or underdeveloped. I felt that the film was very rushed. The tribute parade seemed rushed, and there was little to no explanation on Katniss and Peeta's costumes. Then, I felt that Katniss and Rue's alliance was rushed. It just kinda happened. Also, they went into no detail about their plan to take out the careers supplies. If there had just been one scene where they explain the plan, it would have been better. Also, the scenes in the cave with Katniss and Peeta, again, we're rushed and underdeveloped. They needed to explain the whole 'star crossed lovers' thing better, too. Finally, my biggest gripe was the mutts. They were lame and simple. I, while reading the book, imagined them more like werewolves, much like Lupin in Harry Potter. Here they were just bulldogs. Very lame. Nevertheless, even with all those gripes, there were many things that were absolutely perfect. Other than the mutts, everything looked perfect. They captured the look and feel of the Seam, the Arena, and the Capitol perfectly. Everyone was perfectly cast, and the escence of every character was captured amazingly. The extra scenes between Snow and Crane were just great, and really gave people an idea of how bad Snow is, which wasn't really delved into in the first book. The film captured the look, feel, and essence of the book perfectly, but those few things that were left unexplained plot-wise were quite a detriment to the film. Maybe I should see it again, but from this first viewing, I was left disappointed.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Fives replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I read the interview yesterday, and I found it interesting to get Filoni's thoughts on the whole season. I'm glad that he wasn't really 100% on board with the episodes about 3P0 and R2, and he did give some good hints to next season. But, I think, out of the whole interview, the one thing that caught my attention the most was his concept on how Maul survived for over ten years after his "death". He referenced the idea of how the Jedi can become one with the Force, and after death, become spirits. He then went on to say that the Soth are capable of this, but it all happens in the physical world. So, pretty much Maul harnessed the abilities to survive after death at the same time Qui-Gon did, but rather than becoming a spirit, he became this wretched thing living a horrible existence. It just goes to show how similar the Jedi and the Sith are, but since the both learn only one side of the Force, they are taken to different places under similar circumstances. Interesting stuff... -
Okay, I'm surprised that, after the finale of the CW, people haven't said anything about a cyborg Maul! That would be awesome! If they released a set with a CW Maul, with some special cyborg leg mold, it could also include a CW Obi-Wan (with some sort of redesign), a new Asajj (to match her bounty hunter costume), and then Savage. It could be the big junker turtle ship that Savage uses in those episodes, but the figures would definitely be the reason for the set. All I know is I really want a CW cyborg Maul!

I think the reason they gave Ep 1 Obi-Wan the earth orange hair is because all the other versions of Obi-Wan (other than Ben) have earth orange hair. It doesn't look right, but I think they just added it so as to make all the Obi-Wan's look like the same character.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion

I just read that interview, and it was interesting to hear how Filoni felt about Maul. I love the fact that they are giving him more depth, and making him a true villain, rather than just an object of destruction. Maul is a character now, unlike how he was in TPM. Also, the mention of a story that gets into the details of Maul's character is very exciting. I hope they do a four part arc, and really get deep into who Maul is, what his relationship with Palpatine was like (and how his return will affect Palpatine), and if he views Oppress as an equal, or will use him as an instrument, much like he was used by Sidious. -
Eomer looks awesome! And Theoden is just as good as before, and he looks really cool in that CGI pose! Yet, we still need to see the Moria goblins, and the Troll, if he gets put on the site at all. After they appear, all the figs will be on the site. I'm guessing that, if the goblins and troll appear at all, it won't be until the end of March, which means still two months before the sets are released. But hopefully, as others have said, we should start seeing prelim lists and pics before this first wave is on shelves.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Fives replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
All this discussion that Maul was "ruined" is quite strange. Sure, he was dark and mysterious and barely said a word, which to me makes for an almost nonexistent character. Don't get me wrong, I love Darth Maul, but theseepisodes didn't ruin him. They gave him personality. Before this we had no sort of insight on what Maul is like, and now that he doesn't work for Sidious allows him to be a free Sith, which is way more dangerous compared to what he was. Also, the thing that most interested me was that he knew that the War was planned. It will be interesting to see if he ever meets Palpatine again, because his return is possibly one of the biggest threats ever to Sidious. If Maul reveals Sidious's identity, things will get really crazy. Then again, if Maul proclaims Palpatine to be Sidious, it could just be brushed aside as the yellings of a mad man. Either way,I'm interested and excited to see how the Jedi, the Republic, the Seperatists, and theSith will all react to his return. Sure, him returning is a big deal, but what he is capable of is what will really be game changing. -
Wait... Has it been confirmed that this orange eyed figure is chrome? Would it nor make more sense that the shirtless Maul would be this fig, since his eyes are yellow, which may be mistaken for orange from a distance.

With the fast approaching release of the film, I was surprised to find that no one had started a topic about this! I just read the book last week, and am completely ecstatic about it! So, what do people think? What do other fans expect from the film?

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion
Fives replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Sorry for the spoiler alert above. I was reading about the episode on Wookieepedia and the basic outline of the story was taken from some comic made about Savage's quest. It isn't exactly what we will see, but there were some things given away, like the nature of Savage's talisman and Talzin's role. But, I won't say any more. -
A chrome Ewok makes no sense whatsoever. A Battle Droid cold work, but a Super Battle Droid would make even more sense. Maybe they could chrome one of the new astro mechs from this years January wave. Also, what is this talk of orange eyes and how does it fit into the topic of a chrome fig?

I'm sorry, but that's not true. After Lorien, the Fellowship has grey capes. In the Two Towers, Frodo is able to hide him and Sam from the Easterlings at the black gate because his cloak makes them look like a big grey rock. Green would not be capable of this.
-
Well, seeing as Frodo gets two different colored capes (green in Weathertop and grey in Shelob's lair) then LEGO is obviously acknowledgeing the fact that they did have grey Elven cloaks. This would make me think that we should be seeing more grey capes, like Gandalf's, in future sets on other characters who wear them. Also, the Merry and Pippin cape color issue can be explained by the fact that LEGO was trying this new color for capes (such as Boba Fett's tattered cape) and why not use them on Merry and Pippin, because their capes were generic enough that a slight color change in LEGO form wouldn't be that big of a deal.
-
Okay, I never intended the cape discussion to get so off topic. I'm not trying to be a mini-mod, but lets stay on track. I believe back when the toy fair happened and we got the first good pics of the sets, I calculated that Helm's Deep, with two Uruk-hai Army sets added to it, spanned over two 48 stud A baseplates. Now, I have been looking more into the army building side of the Uruk Army set, and have calculated that, with six Uruk Army sets and the section of exploding wall that comes in Helm's Deep, he whole set would span across 160 studs long. I am planning to initially buy two Uruk Army sets, just to make a decent sized Helm's Deep and beef up my Uruk army, but I plan, when I have the funds, to buy four more Uruk Army sets to strengthen my good and evil forces, and expand the Deeping Wall. So, my question is, what are the proper measurements of Helm's Deep, and would having a 112 stud long Deeping Wall be too big compared to the other 48 stud long gate and Keep section? I haven't been able to find any sort of measurements to get an idea, but I have all the baseplates necessary to hold this fortress. If someone could somehow find the measurements, it would be greatly appreciated!
-
The only reason I would buy multiples of the Gandalf Arrives set is for capes and horses, but I don't really want a bunch of Gandalf and Frodo. Also, I do want an extra short grey cape for one of the two Gimli figs I'll have. I'm pretty silly about multiple figs, but unless they can somehow be altered to look like the same character in a different scene, I don't want it. That is why I am fine with getting two of the same Frodo figs (one at Weathertop and one in Shelob's lair( because they have two different capes. But, that is just they way I organize my figs, and is rather irrelevant here.
-
Up until Lothlorien, the characters all had different coloured capes (Pippin had a reddish purple, Merry had a greenish cape, Sam had a tan coloured cape and Frodo's was green, and Boromir had a brownish black cape, and then there is Gandalf's grey cape), and Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli didn't wear capes (Aragorn had his coat, but he always wears that). After Lorien, all of the Fellowship members were given the grey Elven cloaks. Aragorn wore his from then on until he fought at Helm's Deep, and then wore it again until reaching Minas Tirith. Both Legolas and Gimli wore their's pretty much the whole way through until after Sauron's defeat. Boromir wore his until his death, and the Hobbits wore them when needed. So, for the most part, all of the characters at some point should have grey capes. Aragorn doesn't have his in either of the sets he is in. Neither does Legolas. Gimli wore his at Helm's Deep. And neither Merry or Pippin have their cloaks in the sets they are in. I don't mind Merry and Pippin not having Elven cloaks, and Boromir doesn't really need one either, but they are necessary for the Three Hunters. Sorry for the random rant about capes!

That is possible, but what I want to know is how he was able to stay alive even though he had been bisected. Sure, the Force would help, but what Force ability keeps a dead man living? Could it have been similar to how Sidious kept Vader alive while taking him to Coruscant after he was burned alive on Mustafar? -
I'm not sure if it is just me, but it seems that the LOTR teaser website is down, which means they must be adding Eomer (with he description of the Rohan soldier) and Theoden to the site. I think once they have those guys on there, we should soon be seeing a proper site.

No, at the Toy Fair, all of the little cards with the set names and prices sitting next to the sets said available June.
