"They have a cave troll." It is the one with the big cave troll in the middle.
-
The Deeping Wall on the Helm's Deep set is just sad, luckilly the expansion set exists. From what I can see, the troll looks really good. Unfortunately, the pic is from so far away, not much else is very distinguishable. Anyway, thanks for letting us know!

I doubt a mistake THAT big would happen, but it is possible. It looks as if Boromir's face has been punched in or squished. It still works, but looks strange.
-
The UK toy fair does not allow pictures, whereas the New York toy far does. We will have to wait to see pics of the actual sets. Also, I was looking at the new shilled that the Captain America fig has, and I believe that that piece will be used for the new Rohan shields in LOTR. I bet it is the shield Eomer is holding in the Uruk army set.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion

I actually think it is to save him form force choke. He is prepared to hunt Jedi. He has rocket boots so he can fly like a Jedi can jump, and his breathing thing protects him from some force abilities. -
I'm actually a bit happy that he Hobbit sets won't come out til after the film release. Every time that LEGO has released sets for a movie before it is released, the sets don't always make sense and/or look like the scenes they are based on ( Indy 4, anyone? ). I would rather wait a bit longer and get good sets that represent the film well rather than get OK sets a few months earlier.
-
That's just it: here were No Hobbit sets at the toy fair, just LOTR.
-
These are absolutely amazing! This confirms so much speculation about this theme, like the color of Legolas's clothes and that the ring is a new mold. I'm pretty sure that Gimli's helmet will be grey rather than brown, and Boromir's arms will be dark red rather than blue. I just can't wait!

Today I was reading about the Mouth of Sauron, and I was wondering how they would do a minifig of him, seeing as he doesn't have a full face, just a mouth. Then, I stumbled upon a picture of what his face may look like under his helmet, and thought that it would look really great in LEGO form. Here is a link to his page on the LOTR wiki: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Mouth_of_Sauron

I really was hoping the LOTR site was slowly going to reveal the new figs, like the HP and POTC sites did. They just had the silhouettes of the characters and every few days or weeks, a couple more figs were revealed. That would have been ideal for the teaser site for this theme.

I don't remember Aragorn being on the website. Also, seeing Legolas is a new light shows that he is definitely sand green. Let's hope we see Gimli or Gandalf some time this week!
-
The picture, though, looks as if it is sand green rather than olive. The color matches Yoda's skin more that the dinos in the new Dino theme. We will just have to wait till the toy fair to be sure of anything.
-
I've been pondering the whole "what green will Legolas have" thing, and I found a description of his outfit in an old LOTR book based on the films. It says "a double-layered suede jerkin: the under layer was khaki-green and the slightly thicker outer layer was brown". This then got me looking at the sand green color and the olive green color. With further inspection, it looks like the new olive green color would be much more appropriate than the sand green for Legolas. But, unfortunately, from the way the pic looks, it will be sand green.
-
That is sand green for sure. It is too light to be dark green or the new olive green. I think that the sand green colour suits Legolas best, and would think they would have ruined the figure otherwise. As for Gollum, I think the level of detail will be similar to that of the recent General Grievous or Sebulba figs from the past could years. I think his arms will be the Ninjago skellie arms, and he will have brand new legs and a really detailed body/head piece, with the head not being moveable. As for colour, he will be either tan or fleshie. Also, I don't know who is in charge of the emoticons, but there should be a special Gollum one for the LOTR thread, like how the SW forum has Vader.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 4 Discussion

That was a really great episode! I'm glad we got to see what jail is like in Star Wars. It was also really cool how they transformed Obi-Wan into the bounty hunter. At the end of the episode, I got the feeling that Cad Bane knows that Obi-Wan or someone else is there. Really great episode! -
And so it would make sense that Legolas is blonde. Also, just because Legolas and Thranduil are blonde does not mean the rest of the Mirkwood elves are. If I am not mistaken, I believe that Thranduil and Legolas come from the strand of elves known as the Silvan elves, and are Nora's closely related to the elves that had already been living near Mirkwood. This means that, when we get Hobbit sets with the elves, we may see more dark elf hair than blonde, which would be nice, seeing as the elves of Rivendell are less relevant to LOTR than the Mirkwood elves are to The Hobbit.

If that is Obi-Wan they have done a really great job of hiding. His nose looks different. -
I wouldn't be surprised if LEGO makes a single elf hairpiece that can be used for pretty much all the elves, because all the elves wear their hair the same way for the most part. If not this one, then maybe if they do Elrond we will get brown elf hair.
-
I am a bit if-y on this. On one hand, long hair and quivers have never worked, and this is just a promo image. But, on the other hand, I wouldn't understand LEGO showing a promo pic of a fig that is capable of something the final product won't be able to do. I really hope they come up with some way to make it work, but if they can't, I would rather no quiver than a bad hairpiece.
-
This Legolas fig is just superb! The more pics that LEGO release, the more this theme looks like the best licensed theme ever! The hair looks perfect, even though he won't be ale to turn his head. The quiver, though, looks like it has what is supposed to be an unstrung bow attached to it. The face is good, but it resembles the CMF elf too much. The torso is spot on! It is kinda upsetting that the Rohan sword will just be a gladiator sword, but they do look alike enough so it works. Let's hope for a Gimli pic next week!
-
The only thing that makes that fig look like Eomer is the torso. Eomer never wore a cape, had a shield or used a spears his primary weapon. Also, the helmet is not his. I have a very strong feeling that this is not Eomer in this set. As for the Mumak, a molded head on a brick built body would look really bad, I think. The smooth look of a mold would clash way to much with the blocky look of a brick body. The only sensible way LEGO could do a Mumak would be a big molded animal. I could see the Mumak being made up of many large pieces: a big head/trunk piece, two ears, tusks made from the same pieces used for the 2007 Castle dragons, two body sections, two pairs of legs, and a brick built midsection and tail.
-
I am actually really surprised about how many people think LEGO won't make a bunch of new molds for this theme. Every new licensed theme has scene quite a few new molds, whether they be exclusive to the theme or not. Regarding LOTR, there will probably be more exclusive molds than not. Also, I really doubt LEGO would release a promo picture with new pieces and then not make them. I saw somewhere recently a early promo poster for PoP which had Dastan wearing the Balearics piece from POTC. This means that LEGO designs their new parts at least a year in advance for themes. I know that this doesn't confirm it 100%, but I have a pretty good feeling that we will see lots of new special pieces just for this theme.

That was a pretty great episode, and it made the Mandos look a hell of a lot cooler than before. I was really expecting that Ahsoka was going to kill Vizsla, but the fact she didn't is great. Also, I loved how R2 acted as a savior for the other droids! Now, the next episode looks interesting. I'm unsure, but is Anakin not in on the plan in the next episode? -
Okay, I've been on a bit of a role today, and I came up with a few more sets, some of them are bigger and more expensive, and possibly less realistic, but hey, this is an ideas thread after all! Here they are: The Shire Exclusive: Minifigs: Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, Bilbo, Gandalf, Rosie Cotton, The Sackville Bagginses. Components: Bag End, with interior details such as Bilbo's study and the kitchen, and the main foyer. The big party tree, decorated with lights and lanterns, a big barrel for Bilbo to give his speech on, Gandalf's fireworks tent, a big cake. Cost: $120 War Mumak: Minifigs: Mumak driver, two Haradrim archers, two Easterling warriors, Eomer, two Rohirrim riders. Components: big molded oliphaunt ( double the size of the old elephant piece), the big tower thing on the munak's back, which would be most of the build, one grey horse, two dark tan horses. Cost: $95 The Tower of Cirith Ungol: Minifigs: Sam, Frodo (wounded), Gorbag, Shagrat, two Mordor Uruks. Components: gate area with the watching bird things, the tower itself with a staircase going up to the room where Frodo is held. Cost: $95 Minas Morgul: Minifigs: Frodo, Sam, Gollum, The Witch-King on fell beast, four Mordor orcs and an Olog-hai. Components: the bridge that comes out from the gate of the fortress, the gate with some of the wall, the tower behind the wall. This would be a great set to utilize glow in the dark pieces. Cost: $115 Midi-scale Barad-Dur: Minifigs: Sauron Components: the tower of Barad-Dur done midi scale. Cost: $35 The Black Gate: Minifigs: Aragorn (in his kingly garb), Gandalf the White, the Mouth of Sauron (his face could be tan with nothing but the mouth, and the his helmet covers the rest), two orcs, two Mordor Uruk-hai, an Olog-hai, Legolas. Components: the gate. It would need to be pretty big and cool looking, but there really isn't much else in this scene. Also, Brego, Shadofax, and the Mouth's horse. Cost: $150 Entmoot: Minifigs: Merry and Pippin. Components: Treebeard, two other ents, the big Entmoot rock Cost: $80 Please give your thoughts!

Yeah, it will be tricky to collect Nazgul, but I am really excited for more posters. Maybe posters of the sets? That would be cool! Also, Aragorn is probably the most amazing minifig I've seen in a while, and Anduril looks just perfect. I am SO excited for this theme! On another note, I was thinking a bit about a LEGO LOTR video game, which should happen, and I was having some thoughts on how it could be set up. The hub area could be spread out across Middle-Earth, starting at the Shire, and ending at the Black Gate. Each hub would give you access to levels that correspond with that part of the story. As you progress through the levels, you unlock more of the hub. Also, at each hub, there are the characters that go along with that area, so in Rohan you would find Theoden and Eomer and so forth.
