Perhaps this will be a mix of Pirates and Castle, with Pirates based in the Middles Ages, or Renaissance. It would be interesting, and kill two themes with one brick, so to speak!

Oh, I see. I find I treat my armies much the same as how they are split up in the Battle for Middle-Earth 2 game, with Men together, Elves together, and Dwarves and Men of Dale together. It's interesting to see how people split up their armies. Anyway, that was ridiculously off topic. On a more topic-related note, does anyone think that LEGO will make the printed armour piece for Mordor orcs shown in the trailer for the game? It would be amazing if they did, because it would allow for a lot more variation within Mordor armies.

Three elves: Elrond, Legolas and Haldir. And while there is only one version of the Rohan soldier, that still allows for more army building possibilities than we were given for Gondor. It would make sense if LEGO released a BP based on the Warg ambush from TTT. That way we get more plain orcs, Rohirrim and TTT Wargs, allowing for the larger sets to focus more on Gondor's armies (I would especially love to see Faramir and the rangers of Ithilien. They would be a great scouting group within a larger Gondor army)

Just stumbled across these new images of Bard from the set of the second film. Gives us a good idea of what to expect when it comes to his mini figure. I fear he will look like a taller version of Kili. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=69793

Wow, good for you! I'm actually at school at the Humber Lakeshore campus, so I may stop in this weekend and say hello!

Luckily I bought the figure for around $30 off eBay. I know its a lot of money for one fig, but he isn't likely to appear in any sets, so it seems worth it.

I like the sound of a cheap Nazgul set. Hopefully it will have a horse so I can get six and then wait for an armoured Witch-King set. Also, does anyone else think that the Corsair Ship set will have Soldiers of the Dead? And Anduril? I'm pretty excited for that set just because those two things are likely! And Eagles will be fantastic, but lets hope for no more Gandalf the Grey figs. I also wonder what the set is with just question marks. It could be either LOTR or Hobbit based. Trollshaws maybe?

All I really want to know is if the designer video gives a clear view of the back of the Kili and Fili hair. But regardless of that, I will be buying every single one of these sets once they hit shelves. I'm actually glad this wave doesn't have army builders, because I'm not tempted to buy multiples of any of the sets, which helps save money.

I have also been wondering about what we will be seeing. It would make most sense for the flagship set to be Smaug attacking Laketown, with minifigs like Bard, the Master of Laketown, and some villagers or soldiers with bows. I don't expect we'll see an Erebor set until they make the Battle of Five Armies set. They could make a small set like Gollum's Cave but have the doorstep of Erebor, when Bilbo talks to the thrush about the secret door. Maybe there could be Bilbo and a dwarf in that set (I'd say Balin, since Balin was the first dwarf to enter the mountain after it was opened). You make a good point about there being two sets this wave that are from the second film, which obviously means LEGO doesn't need to cover these scenes again. But, they can't just leave Mirkwood alone. They need to do a Thranduil's Halls set, with Thranduil and lots of elves (with different hair colours). Of course, LEGO could chose to hold back Thranduil until the third movie sets, but he is important enough to warrant his own decent sized set. Without question, Beorn's house will be a set, most likely priced similarly to Bag End of the Warg set. This I feel covers the major book-only events we are likely to see and get new sets for from the second film, leaving possible space for a couple film one sets (I want the Trolls and Rhosgobel), but there is also stuff taking place in Dol Guldur that needs sets. Honestly, there is so much material and so many locations within these three new films, I don't know how LEGO is gonna make sets based on all the crucial scenes and meet the wants of fans.

For some reason the Hobbit mini site is very bare bones on my laptop. On the homepage, I just see a empty space where the map should be, none of the designer videos show up, and I can't scroll along to view the character bios. Does anyone have the Mirkwood designer video posted on Youtube or something?

For the past coulple of years there have been at least two sets in the Star Wars summer wave, and here in Canada, the price of the Mines of Moria was $100 and Helm's Deep was $180, so it is very possible to have one set at $100 and then a larger, more expensive flagship like Minas Tirith. Also, the reason that the Goblintown set is only $100 yet is still the flagship set is because it is the winter wave. Winter waves never usually have flagship sets over $100-$120.

Because of it's size and price, it could be an Isengard extension, or perhaps it has another generic tree, since it sounds like this set is based on Merry and Pippin's first meeting with Treebeard, and the orc will most likely be Grishnakh.

The more I think about those three sets that were listed, the more I notice how many sets will include Gandalf the Grey. I mean, yes, you have to get him with the Balrog, but LEGO could have easily merged the Treebeard and Isengard sets together to make a larger Two Towers set, giving room in the wave for Minas Tirith, which would hopefully have Gandalf the White. Then again, if the wave has 8 sets, then who knows what we'll get. I'd love an Amon Hen set and a Watcher in the Water/Gates of Moria set. I hope the next wave is more focused on ROTK and FOTR, with the Treebeard set and maybe a Warg ambush battle pack (two Rohan riders, two Warg riders and some scenery = amazing army builder!) being the only TTT sets.

I really like the sound of the Betrayal of Isengard. Saruman and five orcs? Yes please! Also, does anyone think that Gandalf could get Thorin's hair in grey for the Isengard set? It would look great for when he doesn't have his hat. And Benx, how did you get this info? And is there more?

I think I can get passed the idea of Disney owning the Star Wars Universe, but what I fear most is if John Williams will be up to the task of scoring the next three films. If he doesn't do the music, then the series is done for. Look at the Harry Potter series. Williams scored the first three, and did an amazing job, but then there was a slew of other composers who did the music for the rest of the series. Sure, they used the same main theme because it was so iconic (as are all of Williams' themes), but it wasn't the same. So, if this happens to the SW saga, I will be greatly saddened. Star Wars isn't the same without John Williams.

Just ordered the exclusive Elrond figure off eBay. Should expect it in the mail in a couple weeks. Can't wait to add him to my LOTR collection!
-
The cape is blue, though. It wouldn't look right. Yet, the extra short blue cape could look really nice on Thorin.

That Elrond fig is just gorgeous! But, why does he have a short cape? Seems like he should have a full cape.

Lego Hobbit An Unexpected Journey:Riddles for the Ring Review
Fives replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Awesome! I'm excited to see what the back of Fili's hair looks like. I wan to know if a sword sheath like Dastan's from PoP could fit and hold his two swords rather than a quiver. -
I would also go with the butler, but I also like the other Barrel Escape elf as well. They are both generic enough that they could be treated as elf villagers. But, design wise I'd go with Elrond. His printing is just superb!

To me it looks like a colour mistake made by the guys doing the CG images. On the box art for the set, the daggers are those from the Prince of Persia sets.

Also, I just stumbled across these leaked The Hobbit trading cards that give a bit of a better look at The Great Goblin http://www.valinor.com.br/files/2012/10/61090_10151127888879821_1899698293_n.jpg and a Goblin http://www.valinor.com.br/files/2012/10/69349_10151127889339821_506686452_n.jpg Just gives a little bit more reference when we look at the figs.

I found some new pics of Bolg that were released yesterday. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=69099 This looks to be one of the scariest orcs we've yet seen come from PJ's Middle-Earth. I love it since it is so distinguishable from any other group of orcs we've seen before (as Bolg's orcs are from the north, so Mount Gundabad and the more northern Misty Mountains), which means people won't mistake these guys for Mordor orcs or Uruks, yet still know they are orcs. Anyway, I can't wait to see how they tackle him as a minifig when the time comes, and I feel that he will look menacing in any AFOLs orc army.

This seems really soon. Like, a month too soon. If what you say is true and you do receive the set, I wonder what that means for us in North America, or even just Canada. Because as of right now I have the funds put aside to buy the whole wave upon release, I'm just waiting for that release.

Which Hobbit set are you most looking forward to?
Fives replied to Ferrik's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
We will indisputably get The Hobbit BPs. The reason we aren't seeing any this wave is because the first film, which this wave is mostly based on, features no major armies. All the conflicts are just the dwarves vs. smaller groups of orcs and wargs, not thousands of them. By the time of the third film we should see at least one BP, if not a set like Uruk-Hai Army, to satiate the craving us AFOLs have for vast armies.
