  1. I think the legs need knees for poseability, like in the game. But I do suppose that something similar in height to the T Rex would work.
  2. I completely forgot about Mount Doom! That would be great! As for the Mumak, I imagine it being $100 or more at least, to justify a big Oliphaunt mold. I would like the tusks to be the size of a Castle dragon tail, so pretty big. I'm of the mind to have one really big, epic Mumak rather than buy multiple smaller ones.
  3. If we do, it likely won't be as amazing as some mocs. What I hope is they make a big molded elephant the same as the one in the game, with the main build being the battle tower on its back. Then it comes down to whether they base it on the scene from Ithilien or Pelennor. My guess would be Pelennor since they are more recognized from there, and we could then get Faramir in a small Osgiliath set (maybe similar in size to the POTC Isla de Muerta set).
  4. Yeah, the Wall is absolutely brilliant! Just astounding!
  5. We're more likely a small Mirror of Galadriel set than a big Lorien set, which would give us Galadriel and a possible variation of Frodo. I would rather that than Galadriel in a Hobbit set, which could make room for other Hobbit-only characters.
  6. There is no doubt that LEGO won't be able to cover everything, but if the theme is selling well enough, they could keep making sets.
  7. I really hope that by the end of this license we have four LOTR waves and four Hobbit waves. I would really love to see a D2C set for the Hobbit: the Trollshaws. I believe that a big expensive exclusive is the only way LEGO could justify three unique troll molds. And it likely would sell well. Die hard Tolkien fans would want it because it is one of the most iconic scenes from any of Tolkien's stories, army builders will want it for the trolls to beef up their armies, and collectors will want it to complete their collection or to have on a shelf. And if this license got two D2C sets by the end of it, it will have been a great success. I also think that people fearing LEGO won't make Minas Tirith is ridiculous. The scenes that takes place at the White City are way to action packed and iconic for LEGO to throw out the window. Sure, it will be tough for them to do it justice, but they pulled off Helm's Deep beautifully, and while that's a little different, they can still do a great job with Gondor. And they will. There's way too much money making opportunity with Minas Tirith to not make it.
  8. I think that LEGO takes into account some of the things said on sites like Eurobricks. They get a sense of what the fans want and do their best to accomplish it in a way that makes sense for them on a business level as well. I bet that the next LOTR wave will have a stronger focus on Gondor, and perhaps fill the gaps where secondary heroes and villains are concerned so by the end of three waves, we have a decent line of sets to create a strong LEGO LOTR world. Then, hopefully they'll make one last wave to have fun with and make some more sets with figs the fans want to see. All I know is that I'm still gobsmacked that we've even been given this gift of a license!
  9. I have a feeling that the Orthanc set is why we got a smaller LOTR wave this year, which hopefully means LEGO will make up for it next year with Gondor sets. And I can't wait to find out the release! Thanks GRogall!
  10. I'm really curious as to whether this date is for Canada as well.
  11. I find it a little odd that the US price is $200 but here in Canada we have to pay an extra $50. Makes no sense. Still, I believe the set is well worth it.
  12. I gotta say LEGO has done an amazing job! Holy Hobbits, this set is AMAZING! The tower itself is beautiful. All of the rooms are fantastic, and the attention to detail, from the portraits of the Istari, to the light up Palantir, its all awesome. The Minifigs are decent. Saruman and Grima are the star figs of the set. Gandalf was expected, and kind of a waste. And the Uruk and Orc, while not new, are welcome additions to my armies. It's really nice to get another Eagle. The best surprise is the Ent. He looks amazing. While this likely means they will not make a Treebeard set (this Ent looks enough like Treebeard to pass, and can be slightly adjusted for more accuracy), I'm happy to see how wonderfully LEGO has made the Ent. The price point, for what you get, is fair. If they were to make a stand alone Entset, it would likely be $30-$40, so add that to a very detail, very tall tower, along with five figs and a special molded Eagle, $200 seems reasonable. I can't wait to get my hand on this beautiful set!
  13. The best place for Boromir is Amon Hen. The set could include Boromir, Merry and Pippin, Lurtz in his armour (maybe with new hair, or just Thorin's hair), and a couple Uruks. It could have the Seeing Seat, a few trees, maybe a little catapult function to launch rocks at the Uruks (a play feature based on the fact that the Hobbits threw stones), and maybe a new horn of Gondor, either a new piece or made of smaller pieces. Anyways, there are plenty of options for future sets that we should get a variety of characters in their different outfits.
  14. I have a strong feeling that LEGO will keep the Barrel and Mirkwood sets in production longer that the other sets of the first wave, since they depict scenes from the second film. That's four dwarves right there that don't need to be in new sets.
  15. So I've seen one review of the MoS set Black Zero Escape, does this mean the rest of the sets should be out soon? When is the wave slated for official release?
  16. I really hope they don't. I want to see a focus on the more secondary characters, such as Thranduil, Bard and the Master of Laketown. And Beorn, of course. Plus, I really hope we get a set with Azog.
  17. I realise that. The license for LOTR works the same as the SW one. But LEGO could still do SW style Battle Packs, with two good guys and two bad guys. They could release two battle packs per year around the January release of other themes, since LOTR/The Hobbit don'e get released till early summer or late fall. It would help bridge the gap between releases, and quench the thirst of fans for a little bit. They could do one BP from LOTR and one from The Hobbit. Sure, it would be slightly expensive to stock up on theme, but it's better than the Uruk Army set, and LEGO knows that plenty of fans would pour tons of money into multiples. I only mentioned the Castle style Bps because they are my favourite BPs ever, due to the fact that you get an extra fig and no pointless build for slightly less money than SW Bps.
  18. I'm actually surprised that LEGO hasn't made any effort to make battle packs. While LOTR may not be the best when it comes to making SW battle packs, due to the lack of vehicles and stuff, the actual builds themselves would be rather small and lame. The first few could introduce some interesting small catapults and trebuchets, but after the first few, there aren't many options for builds, other than trees and stuff. What I would like to see is BPs in the style of the 2007 Castle ones, which were simply five figs with assorted weapons and armour, along with a barrel of more weapons. This type of approach would allow for some fantastic variety within the armies, and would be decently priced. Anyway, that was random and slightly off topic. I'm really hoping that we get a bit more info on Orthanc soon. If it is released in October, it will be out around my birthday, which would be pretty awesome.
  19. Sounds like that is when the Orthanc set will come out. I'm pretty confident that the LOTR sets will be out this summer, likely June, because October is too close to the next Hobbit movie, and they'll be releasing the wave for DOS around then. If the stores have an October release date for something LOTR related, perhaps more Orthance info is on the horizon.
  20. Amazing! Thanks GRogall! The Corsair Ship looks pretty awesome, and while it does have the Three Hunters, it still offers some very tertiary heroes and villains. The King of the Dead is absolutely stunning! As for the Black Gate, the gate itself is a little lacklustre, but the figs and eagle more than make up for it! Gandalf is perfect! It's a shame there aren't up close pics of the Mouth and Aragorn. Can't wait to see the next two sets!
  21. I understand the change, but I am really not a fan at all. I feel like some of the charm of Eurobricks has been taken away. And the name Ameribricks just sounds bad in my opinion. I'm never gonna be able to look at this site the same way again, and my usage may significantly go down because of it.
  22. Exactly, the bear form of him that we saw in the early poster showed him being quite a bit taller than Gandalf, and having sort of whispy hair on the top of his head. He will require a special new bear mould.
  23. The Great Goblin, to me, was a very strong part of the film. His appearance was perfect, and his personality was awesome! While he may be seen as comical, his more light hearted nature makes him more of a fearsome villain. The fact that he wasn't really angry, and was excited and singing about the torture of the dwarves adds to his evil nature. Plus, he wasn't actually a true enemy of Thorin, unlike Azog, therefore giving the GG less reason to be super angry or vengeful. And he also seemed like the sort of ruler who just sits in his throne all day and eats, and enjoys his life, so he would always be in a pretty good mood.
  24. Those spiders are brilliant! Fantastic work! You've also captured the feel of this scene amazingly well!
