I think the concept of a chess set has been brought up before and Lego actually said they'd love to make one but it will be too costly because of licensing, I think they said their licensing fees is tied to the number of minifigs in a set. But a chess set is something that is pretty easy to MOC up for yourself.

When I first saw this set I thought (and I think posted) something like "not for me but I think it will appeal to young girls", but the more I see it and thanks to excellent reviews the set is really growing on me, and I don't even mind the lime green any more. With so many Lego sets not being very good value for money, this might make it into my collection if I can find it on small sale. Thanks for taking the time to do the review and sharing it with us.

Which is your favorite Star Wars movie?
Hewman replied to darkrebellion's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Wow, for the first time in my life, my movie taste coincides with the most popular. It was The Empire Strikes Back, all the way for me. From first seeing a snowtrooper I was hooked, it was like "it's a stormtrooper but even better" for the ten year old version of me. And who could resist this movie with a title that gave you hope that whiney Luke might get his come-uppance. -
Welcome, and thanks for sharing your work with us. I'm sure you'll love it here, it's a great bunch of people.

This is the first time I"ve looked at your comic and I"m impressed. I love the subtlety in movement of the minifigs, and what nerd can't either laugh or smile whenever they see anything about Shatner!

And don't forget the other version, the thick chinstrap helmet version after Lego discovered the original helmets split easy. To the obsessive purist like me, the thin strapped figs are definitely more valuable. Thanks for the review, I look forward to white, yellow, black and blue!

K-mart has 20% off all star wars toys starting the 18th, the only exclusion listed was console games, so hopefully Lego is included as well. -

I wouldn't worry about not having a toyworld nearby, I have one a five minute walk away, and when the owner isn't standing right outside the front door smoking, he's behind the desk on personal calls. Plus their range of lego is appalling (no star wars sets ever there) and they sell impulse sets for $6.49. I thought toys r us already did this, well with the Hoth base and HSD they certainly did, although strangely the republic cruiser exclusive was often available at the bargain $120. Bring on the sales, I want my echo base! -
Exactly. I for one was glad to find out that the irrelevant mobile phone thread was cancelled. I can't recall a single example of the mods closing a relevant Lego related thread down, they're doing an excellent job for free, and I for one appreciate it.

Taj Mahal now available at Myer Adelaide, $499. It's a heavy beast, I had to lift it up to find price tag. They only had one copy. They also had a bunch of Eiffel Towers in stock but I didn't see price. -
Thanks for the review and the excellent pics. That sticker sheet is a huge turn off and is the worst I've seen since some of the speed racer sets.

It would definitely be toyworld. They already have Ahsoka's ship as an exclusive. Toys r us will have Home One as their exclusive. -

Excellent, thanks so much for that news, looks like I will be getting a MMV at last, it's been the only thing I've desperately wanted from S@H and just couldn't justify the shipping. Looks like the Endor set is going to be $200 forever, I've never seen any % off sales at toyworlds near me. Those relying on k-mart for a death star, it might be good to keep in mind what happened with the UCS Falcon, each store only got a couple in so you might have to be quick. -
A bunch of pieces (mainly light gray and blue) to make my classic space version of the A-wing for the competition here, which unless the other parts are in the mail today I'll never complete by the closing date, but I'll put some pics up here when it is eventually done.

News from toyworld Adelaide: Drawbridge is in stock, $70, looks beautiful and better value than the $80 Ahsoka's starfighter they had, but still too pricey for me. Didn't see the King's carriage set. Market Street is there for $140 No promotional freebie farm set deal Plenty of last year's line of star wars still available there, but all at full RRP. Impulse sets $1 more than catalogue price (but they're not a participating store) And in the bizarrest toy store promotion ever, spend more than $50 there and get some % discount from purchases made at Harris Scarfe Manchester section, true toyworld is in the Harris Scarfe building, but it has nothing to do with manchester, it wasn't even related to say kids movie merchandise quilt sets. -

Are the castle sets the same price as S@H? Lego will be celebrating tonight, even at excessive prices these two sets are in their top sellers on S@H, obviously some very keen castle fans out there. Edit: In other toyworld news, if you purchase a farm set you get that mini tractor and farmer set for free (value $4.99 apparently but you never know, it might become a rarity). But it's only at participating stores, which if you're in SA like me, you are nowhere near one if you live in the metro area. For a list of participating stores see here Toyworld participating stores -
In a particular order but not related to how I rank them, I've only chosen ones I own: 1. Zam Wesell 2. Jango Fett 3. Greedo 4. Snowtrooper 5. Hoth Rebel (7666 version) 6. C-3PO (the newer darker gold version) 7. Jawa 8. Leia (Hoth version) 9. Darth Vader (Death star version) 10. Ten Numb

It's looking very unprofessional isn't it. Like the echo base and Endor being for sale but without a picture up there. Svelte, you'll probably get your sets quicker from bricklink as well. -

I have the same feeling Natelite, at $200 I might just buy a couple figs from the Endor set. It really is quite disheartening. It must be even worse for kids or young people without much spare income for Lego. I agree wholeheartedly. I think I'll be 1. reducing my Lego expenditure and 2. switching from star wars to a more affordable theme like space police, it would have been castle but the value seems to have disappeared from that. Edit: Just been to DJs and Myer on my lunch break, nothing on sale at DJs, Myer, 25% off all toys today only, but the boxes of basic bricks I was after that were in the store last week are gone, plenty of clone battle packs though for those in Adelaide. -

Echo Base is up for sale on S@H and a big sigh of relief, it's $39.99 which is what I was quoted a while back from a reliable source. -

Yeah it's looking a little lean for me too. I'll be keeping an eye on www.starwarsshop.com to see when they have the new range of sets and hoping the exchange rate stays the same. Although sometimes they sell at above RRP, and they refuse to ship some of the larger sets. ISC - I eagerly await your report from DJs. -

That is rather disappointing, usually we get pretty good prices on castle, even grabbing this at a 20% off sale doesn't seem like that good a deal. I fear what's coming with the prices of the star wars sets. It might end up cheaper shipping them from the US. -

A whole four, but a couple more when I can get my hands on the Endor set, was there two in the set? -
A great choice for number one, given the hundreds opr thousands of unique figs, I'm sure there could be endles debate, but I think you did a great job with the variety of figs you chose, many themes, figs from the complex to the simple yet elegant.

Brilliant, love it, even though I'm not a fan of space skulls. There's a very good chance it'll get some of my votes.
