  1. I think most people will agree that the chrome looks beautiful, and personally I'll be snapping up a stormtrooper for display purposes when they come out in Aus, I'll use one of my stands from those old star wars minifig packs. As for 3PO, it looks so good and movie accurate that I'd be too tempted to play with it and I think it'd possibly get damaged. Chrome does have its limitations, but the wow factor makes up for it, particularly when reasonably priced. Hmmm, I'm straying off-topic here. US price is $9.99 for stormie so let's hope it's $14.99 for Aus.
  2. I think I'd like it a lot more if it was an actual minifig. It's certainly not going to get me to place an order. It was for sale for Aus S@H, rather than just a bonus, not sure if this is still the case. The same thing occurs with the silver stormtrooper with the uncoated hands which is a litle disappointing but I guess there's a good chance of flaking if you put a weapon in there. But hey, if you're placing an order, it's a nice little bonus.
  3. You beat me to it, T-Nui, you're exactly right. Using the zoom function on S@H really does bring out some of the very nice features on the Home One, it is starting to give me the feel of being a must-buy.
  4. That is a very good price for the carousel. That'd be fantastic if the Home One is $150. Just been into Toys 'r' Us Adelaide and there are still masses of Twilights for sale at the reduced $95.99 (I think), might make a good bley pack for MOCers, probably not the best set to buy as an investment given the lack of unique minifigs though. I still haven't noticed any of the new Pirates or the MMV turn up at Targets in Adelaide, wouldn't that be nice if they actually waited to put them on the shelves at sales time. Previously here, Spongebob sets have usually sold out before the sales start (I think similar things occurred in Sydney, that someone (maybe ISC) mentioned).
  5. Thanks for the review Cutlass_Iz, very professional, you managed to get your hands on pretty good quality used set there. Although not a lot of pieces in this set, there sure are some quality pieces, all of which you showed beautifully. I think this one is still available at my local toy shop, I may just have to investigate.
  6. Excellent photography and that's some of the best sticker placement I've ever seen. With all the colours this set could look like a mish mash that a kid has built from bricks from any lego tub, but somehow it works. I'll keep my eye out for it down under.
  7. Thanks for that info, it looks like I might get a Death Star after all, and 5 months to pay is fine by me seeing I just spent big on a new tv this weekend. For anyone in SA, no Death Stars on the shelf at K-mart Firle, but lots of AT-OTs, but hopefully this order lay-by thing is fine, as the Death Star is listed with the little Christmas tree logo next to it.
  8. Must buy and advertise to the world what a nerd I am. Thanks for bringing us the pic!
  9. Excessive relates to the proportion of negative posts and also the tone and phrasing of the post(s). Of course people should be able to voice complaints or annoyances here, again it is excessive use of negative posting that I would find annoying if it occurred. I think 99% of people reading my post relating to the Endor set would understand that the lack of availability of the Endor set was disappointment, also it was an informative post listing availability of the set in Australia, so anyone local to me would be saved effort in searching for a set not available here. My apologies for this being off-topic but I feel the need to answer such a comment. I'm not sure what this thread is accomplishing, the title is provocative and overly general to be particularly useful. At best it will result in the regular answers of stickers, galidor, juniorisation, then some bionicle bashing until it degenerates further. With so much to celebrate and enjoy about Lego I'm really not sure what it accomplishes. What about a "what would you like to improve about Lego"? It's much less antagonistic.
  10. Thanks MicroM, that's a great price for the galactic enforcer and seeing the classic space statue torso is printed not sticker, it makes this set even more desirable.
  11. Excessive negativity about something that brings so much joy, ie Lego.
  12. Well I've just spoken to all the toyworlds within a 45 minute drive of me and only one ordered the Endor set, and that was a whole 1 copy (sold already). Why do toyworld pay for these exclusives if they aren't going to make a huge profit from them. One guy said "The Endor one that everyone is ringing about?", yeah that'd be the one, ok, rant over. If anyone has any luck finding this set on the shelves, I'd be interested to find out about it. Why even put it in the catalogue? OK, rant wasn't quite over before. I haven't spotted any new sets in Target in SA yet but I'll keep my eye out.
  13. Thanks for the link to the 1600 piece box, svelte_corps. The inventory on bricklink for it looks great as a parts pack, a good mixture of bricks, slopes and plates in basic colours. I will have to get this one. As an aside, after work today I decided to bite the bullet and get the Endor set at toyworld in the city. None on the shelves, so I go and ask, they get the catalog and they tell me they don't have it and won't be getting it at all, they decided not to order it, idiots! This is the biggest toyworld I know as far as lego stock is concerned in all of Adelaide.
  14. The original, Classic Space. Without it the others would never have existed... maybe. It's the theme I grew up with and there were jus tso many sets for so many years unlike many modern themes that last a year or two. I even had a collector attitude as a child. If I had grown up with them, Blacktron (the original) and Space Police 1 would ahve been contenders for my favourite space theme.
  15. Cheers, that makes the decision about whether to buy or not a lot easier, I'll be passing on that, perhaps I'll have to give in to the urge to get the Endor set. That tub of 1600 pieces for $63 looks like decent value though.
  16. Hmm, even at 40% off the Twilight isn't tempting, but thanks for letting us know. Now the police station, that doesn look like a good deal.
  17. Thanks. Yes I wonder why I would be interested in the death star, it's like I missed out on it when it came out at the too low price, but I'm sure I remember ordering it, I wonder what could have happened to it. Oh, ISC, good luck with your nomination for the ambassador role. And congratulations on winning the contest, a fantastic design. But onto something related to this topic, I was at my local k-mart last night, no sign of the big star wars sets but the top shelf was padded with cranes just at the front so I assume that's where the big stuff will go. They had lots of new city cets, the sports car, the city corner, garage and tow truck.
  18. K-mart's toy sale catalogue will be available for viewing on the 25th, just two days away (a week before the sale starts). I'm very curious about the death star price.
  19. Three great creations there. The colour scheme of Hinckley epitomises classic town, Luxorv's traffic light was magnificent, and the window cleaner tipped me over the edge and made TheBrickster's my favourite, just.
  20. Hmmm, looks like I have a case to sue both my optometrist (I knew I was red-green colour blind but not yellow-green) and the guy that sold them to me as trans-yellow. Ooh, I have a title now, very nice, thanks to whoever did that.
  21. Toyworld at Norwood in SA had 20% off all stock on the weekend. I don't know if it is still on, and I doubt it is applicable at any other toyworlds. They did have the Ahsoka starfighter exclusive but none of the new castle or star wars sets.
  22. The brightness difference is just due to the cockpit being an old worn piece, and the 2x2 round being brand new. As for any greenish appearance I can only blame poor photography/camera, or taking it on a dark blue couch, the pieces most definitely aren't neon-green. Thanks for the nice comments from people and thanks to KimT for puttin it in the index and correctly referring to it as a MOD. It would be near to 50% off the same pieces (except colour) of the 6206.
  23. Umm, maybe it is my camera but they are all trans-yellow.
  24. Good question, several reasons 1. I'm not sure if it meets the piece count requirement, although that is fairly easily fixed. 2. Have you seen the standard of some of those entries (sorry that's rhetorical)? They're way more creative than this is in my opinion. Yours for example is magnificent, and was so so close to getting one of my votes. 3. The biggest reason by far: I wasn't organised enough to order the parts I need to meet the competition deadline. I originally experimented with an old style A-wing which wasn't near as impressive.
  25. For my 500th post I had always intended to show my Hoth diorama, however it just wouldn't be complete without a taun-taun, and unfortunately I haven't been able to find them in the shops here in Australia yet. So instead I will present my A-Wing MOC. This was inspired by the invasion contest. The classic spacemen, jealous that Star Wars beat them into space by two years were further enraged when they saw Return of the Jedi and saw an A-Wing and thought "they've stolen our design for the Space Cruiser 924 (or for those in the US, the 487)". It has taken them over 25 years to extract their revenge. They entered the Star Wars Lego universe and stole the design of the A-Wing to give it a classic space twist, the 934 Thanks to everyone here for making this such a fun place, I never thought I'd get to 500 posts, so I thought I'd give just a tiny bit back. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask. PS my apologies for the two bley parts, I just had no other option.
