  1. Adelaide Target, no MMV left. Pirates running low, no Spongebob that I could see, strangely lots of clone battlepacks available. Very little at toys r us that's exciting even at 30% off except Agents volcano base. Most sets are above RRP anyway so it ends up being similar to Target's price. Edit: Tantive IV price now listed on S@H, $279.99, now I know US prices are always better but their's is $149.99 ($183.30 AUD). I guess we shouldn't be surprised, it's a similar story with the Endor set. To be fair it is a lovely looking set and I couldn't see a single sticker throughout, and I'd gladly hand over $200 for it if it makes it to a retail shop in the next 12 months.
  2. Hi Richard Welcome from another South Aussie, I'm not sure if there are to omany of us here (quite a few Aussies are highly respected members here though). Here's a link to a topic that us Aussies frequent a lot, the Aussie Sales thread. I guess you're aware Target has 20% off Lego starting today, and Toys r us are having a 30% off sale for a few days starting tomorrow. Matt (Hewman)
  3. I'm happy to be the dissenting voice. I love the Buzz fig and his vehicle looks fantastic with all that pearl gold (I'm confident someone will correct me quickly if I got the colour wrong). Also it's great to get some more system scale animals like the camel and ostrich. I see those toy soldiers being in high demand for those craving a military theme from lego.
  4. Endor bunker is a toyworld exclusive at the moment. It'll be intersting to see what toys ru us price their exclusive, the home one at once they have it on the shelves. I've actually found Toys r us to be pretty busy in the lego section in Adelaide at least, full of parents that don't realise way better prices can be found, and often within a 50 metre walk.
  5. I'm with you, I can understand a small independent toy store without huge buying power having to jack up prices a little, but a company the size of toys r us doing the same is ridiculous. There were many other examples of sets being well above RRP. I think I'll wait for my tax return and put a big S@H order in and grab myself some minifig and magnet packs as well as the hard to find star wars sets.
  6. Just been to Target and discovered they've covered up all the special sale lego, so you can't purchase now. It looks like there'll be plenty of pirates and MMVs available at elast at the start of the sales. I did notice lots of spongebob sets on display still. Toys r us Adelaide had a pitiful selection of Lego today. Choice of about 3 impulse sets, bbq stand, police dog and mini cement mixer one, no pirates or castle. Star wars battle packs are now $22 before discount. I left and handed my voucher over to someone that looked like they might actually use it.
  7. The new troll and dwarf battle packs are up at shop at home, $19.99. A little more expensive than the knight and skeleton packs were $16.99, but not too bad at $4 a fig plus accessories.
  8. That's what I was thinking too, it'd be a great opportunity to grab some impulse sets, so I'm crossing my fingers that my local toys r us doesn't get the urge to put all the impulse sets out the back. About the only thing I can think of that might be a reasonable price that isn't available elsewhere would be the Agents' volcano set. Pity the Home One isn't available, 20% off that would be brilliant. Addition: Myer One card holders (not sure if you have to have a certain level of membership or not) this weekend get an extra 15% off toys, they say this is on top of any discounts, which for Lego is currently 20%, so all up, ths would work out to be a 32% discount which isn't too shabby.
  9. Hey LegoKing This has been seen but it was removed at Lego's request, you might want to remove it from your post. Cheers Hewman Edit: Quick work LegoKing! To answer your other question, the best guesses here say 5 figs, Captain Antilles, Leia, R2, C-3PO and one rebel
  10. I thought it would definitely be a more interesting sale than that. I guess it was wishful thinking that they'd have the Home One already. Let's hope they don't mark up the shop at home price.
  11. Fair enough, but the figs you speak of are now pretty affordable (by star wars minifig standards) on bricklink, without having to break the budget like a DS would. But hey, I hope it comes with a stack of figs if there's somewhere to put them. I think it's a great compromise size for the set as obviously genuine minifig scale would make it the price of a car.
  12. You may be right about that with the hinging, a couple figs squeezed in and seated wouldn't be great. But better pics will show us the proportions more accurately. I think that the main reason people want figs is to get a Captain Antilles, we really don't need more R2s and 3POs. Personally I'd be happy to forego the figs as long as there was a bit of corridor space to have a confrontation between the stormies and rebels, but I"m not holding my breath on that one.
  13. To me it looks like it may be hinged in the middle section allowing space for a couple more figs. Although I think anyone hoping for 10 or more figs will be disappointed. The set looks a lot chunkier to me the Episode 1 version and I think once we see a bit more of it people may be pleasantly surprised by the size of it.
  14. Svelte, you have gone above and beyond with this review. I felt like I was building the set myself as I read the review. I was surprised at the lack of technic used in this set (a good thing to me). Now I can spend the day regretting not purchasing this when it was at the cheaper price. I guess I can wait 12 months for it to make it as an exclusive somewhere. Anyway, a huge thanks for your time and effort with this review!
  15. The little red Farm tractor. Cute but very small, thankfully I got it for about 30% off full RRP, otherwise it would definitely not have been worth it. Minifig with overalls is fantastic though.
  16. I know I risk the wrath of the hardcore train fans but I love the holiday train. It just brings a smile to my face every time I get it out.
  17. Thankfully (for people like me at least) it isn't a competition of skill. It's a very generous raffle where you're just required to put in a little effort to get a ticket. You're right there are a few absolute standout vignettes there.
  18. Thanks for the review and history of the fig. The first blacktron fig was certainly better than the second with its bright green B on the torso, who could be scared of that. I love how the Blacktron 1 fig looks so menacing with th evisor down but as soon as you lift it up he has the super happy smiley face, is this meant to be some deep philosophical meaning that inside every baddie there is at least a touch of goodness... probably not, it's just that lego had very little (if any) variety in heads then.
  19. Mmmmm Chrooooome! All praise the chrome!
  20. Maybe try a toyworld, I know I saw it at one in Adelaide a few weeks ago.
  21. That's sensational, you've really taken on board everything that people suggested and made it your own, great work! The bird house is a great touch.
  22. You can always quote set numbers, 8399 K9-Bot and 8400 Space Speeder. Going through the shelves of my local Target I noticed they had the spongebob rocket ship there, which I don't think was in the catalogue as it was part of last year's line, this is a pretty difficult to find set (although I'm sure its potential future value has decreased since the release of the spongebob magnet set with the same minifigs).
  23. Looks good, the only suggestion I'd have is to possibly add some 1x2 45 degree slopes at the bottom to look like roots.
  24. I think you're right, it's currently listed as the number 2 seller behind the echo base, watch that position plummet over the next few days. My local Target finally has the new range of sets in, I'm thinking I'll just pay full retail for the MMV, rather than wait and hope they still have some in stock come sale time, at $150 it's still a great price and great prices are getting rarer and rarer. If I'm disciplined I can leave it unopened until the sale starts and return it if they still have others on the shelf (I doubt I'll have the self control though).
