  1. Thanks, ISC, you saved me $1.25 (or cost me $3.75), as I just got a pirate impulse set. For those in Adelaide, there was still one Brickbeard's bounty, a soldiers fort and a steam roller (slightly squashed box) at Target Newton as at about 1 pm.
  2. Come on, you can't just leave teaser information... Where are they? I know where to get the service station set for $50, maybe we can trade information privately and there'll be no value lego left in Adelaide.
  3. I remember my local woolworths having the impulse sets last year, and they had a stand full of them at the back of the store in between two meat sections hidden near the doors staff use to get to the cold goods storage area, not exactly prime selling location.
  4. For those in Adelaide, there's a toyworld clearance store in the Myer centre, only one lego set there, but plenty of copies and a good price, it's the big 7644 Mars Mission set with the Martian commander fig, reduced from $130 to $65.
  5. Hey Shaun, All I'll say is go Roosters (remember 1987?, I have conveniently forgotten 1985 and 1986!). Although it must be a terrible position to be in with your son, I'm sure he is getting great care at the WCH, I used to work there (not in burns though) and they do a fantastic job. PS It's great to hear of another not so young Adelaide guy getting back in to the lego. Cheers Matt
  6. From the Myer (Australia) sale yesterday, three Pirates sets, the soldiers fort, loot island and kracken attack, and last week at the Myer sale, Brickbeard's Bounty for $99 AU which I was very happy about. Plus a bunch of pieces from bricklink, including some to feminise some of my classic space minifigs, they've been feeling as lonely as pirates on a 12 month voyage.
  7. There is some good news I've noticed. Target shops seem to be restocking all the Spongebob sets, so if you're into them I'd recommend getting in quickly as they seem to sell very fast, even at what I think are over the top prices for what you get. I know when Target stock them for their big July sale that most disappear even before the sale starts. Thanks to JonWil for the info on the Myer sale, with a myer one card it's almost like getting 27% (ok it's actually 26.5% but I didn't want to go into the calculations here) off. I'll have to check it out at lunch time. Edit: Update from Myer sale. It goes until Friday, I have just been at Myer Adelaide and they're out of Brickbeard's bounty, I bought the 2nd to last Soldier's Fort (6242). Plenty of power miners there, and still a stack of the construction site set, that is proving massively unpopular, maybe something to do with a half complete looking set not appealing to anyone. Expect this to be on sale on S@H. Star wars sets were well stocked at Myer, I guess everyone bought them much earlier in the year and are now waiting for next year's line.
  8. No problem, yeah it is a lot of money. Still a fair bit less than I paid for it a couple years ago new (not surprisingly). You would have thought that another Jango set would be released but I guess with all the rumours about next year's set and no word on a new Jango that's kept the price of the Slave 1 high. I've decided to get into the pirates theme a bit, so want to make some room and fund it through sales if I can, but if it doesn't sell, no big deal. My apologies for misinterpreting what you meant.
  9. Actually, it's the cheapest complete boxed version on bricklink by a mile, and is absolutely mint. Not exactly the cheapest set going around. You sure , I decided to knock 30% off the fabuland, as I thought I could go lower, just for you I'd give two free minifigs per set!
  10. Thanks for that . Because of you and Svelte's great review of this set I picked one up after work today. For some strange reason it didn't come up in the lasso.com.au search for Lego even though it was in the catalogue. And in other Aussie sales news, there are MISB Fabuland, MIB Star Wars and Classic space sets 20-30% off in my bricklink store. As an added bonus any Aussies that mention this thread will get a free minifig thrown in from the theme they buy, and I'll make sure it's a decent one in good condition.
  11. It's rare that I comment on people's MOCs, but for yours I must, it's absolutely fantastic. I don't know if everyone will like it, but the white with a little bit of grey works beautifully for me. I don't know if was intentional or not 9you probably did mention it in your detailed explanation, but I'm at work and sneaking looks at Eurobricks), but the red part reminds me of a later add on to a hospital after it became too small, so to me it just makes it even more authentic. Were they turnstyle doors I spotted at the entrance? Anyway, brilliant work and thanks for sharing!
  12. Hey Capto Welcome from another Aussie. There are plenty of us here including a few of the staff. We even have our own sales thread you might like to have a look at and contribute to. Aussie Sales Cheers Hewman
  13. Firstly, my apologies if this has already been posted, my search didn't come up with anything recent. Later this year (late December in most places) a new book featuring over 600 stickers 9amazon says over 1,000) of lego minifigs over the years is being released. Link here. According to an Australian book site this will also include a minifig and this fig will not be the same for every book. The stickers are reusable, and it says it goes back to the beginning of minifigs, so should be some cool stickers for people like me that were kids back when the first minifigs came out.
  14. Congratulations to the first three winners and a big thank you and well done to all those that have contributed to the competion as an entrant and special thanks to the organisers and those that contributed to the prizes for their outstanding work. It's going to be a fun 24 days.
  15. So many fantastic figs to choose from. I'm not a fan of wrestling at all but the wrestler fig is brilliant. Being a huge classic space fan and being fascinated with Robin Hood since childhood, the spaceman and forestman figs were very tempting to vote for as well. Finally though I decided on the zombie, I never thought I'd see a zombie in lego form and they pulled it off spectacularly, it'll fit perfectly with my horror studios sets. There's only 4 out of the 16 I'm not interested in, so great job Lego!
  16. Because they were on clearance I think they're gone pretty much everywhere. I know a few weeks ago, Firle had a couple but when I went last week they didn't have any. If I see any around at a good price I'll drop you a PM. I assume you were wanting one from K-mart because of their price? Plenty of places have them at full RRP.
  17. I've bought a bunch of sets over the last week, Ambush in Cairo, Gold Tooth's Getaway, Pirates Cannon Battle, K-9 Bot and the Knight impulse. To check out what I did with them, see the link at the very bottom of my sig.
  18. It's most likely that you'll be waiting until next year for the 10198 to be available in a retail store, this seems to be the pattern with most shop at home exclusives, they're not released widely for at least 6 months after they become available from S@H. Your best bet would have been the sale at starwarsshop.com that ended a few days ago. You could have got it for a little over $200 delivered. Even at full price it'd be cheaper than gettign itr from shop at home. Although if you can wait a few months it'll probably be $250, maybe less at one of the major retailers here.
  19. I reckon Vader's TIE. It's overpriced (at least here in Aus) and every single shop has heaps of stock of it and even when on sale it moves pretty slowly off the shelves.
  20. I thought this would be the case, I saw a stack of them displayed on their lonesome at lunch time today listed as full price which is what they usually do before something is drastically marked down. even at almost $70 I can't be persuaded to grab one. There were still plenty of Home Ones to be had for $150 at Adelaide Toys r Us. It's not really the sort of set that l ends itself to getting multiple copies though.
  21. Thanks! Nice way to introduce yourself here. I worked out it would be about $210-$215 AU for a Tantive IV. There's not much saving with multiple items for shipping though. Sale is for two days. Only in-stock items. Also, if you click on the front page ad it will give you details about the sale. Anyone checked out and had discount applied yet? They grab your credity card details first, so if it's suddenly out of stock it might not be so good. Already the republic gunship has sold out since I added it to my cart.
  22. My entry: I saw mummy kissing Santa Claus (and I took a photo to prove it)
  23. If you spot the pirate advent calendar around, it'd be great if you could post the info here. I'm in the city so no big deal to wander to Imagine If at lunch time without calling. Edit: Plenty of service stations at Imagine If Adelaide, just don't anyone buy them all, I want to pick one up at the end of the week!
  24. Hi Lightingtiger, if your local toyworld is Athelstone (given you were at Newton) I'd say good luck finding anything interesting there, they have the worst range of Lego of any toyworld I've seen. Norwood is often good. Adelaide Toyworld didn't have the servo set but I'll check the city ImagineIf at lunch today.
  25. I couldn't see any emerald expresses at myer adelaide, although toyworld had a lot of market streets, and the huge police set for $99. Off to K-mart tonight to try my luck.
