Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

Yeah Toyworld's and Imagine If shops tend to have a lot of sets still on shop at home but not stocked at other retailers any more. I've seen sandcrawlers, star justice, market st, cement mixers, speed racer all in the last couple weeks. -

Thanks for that lightningtiger. Do you know if Myer has a general % off lego sale and was the emerald express train set in the catalogue? I couldn't see the catalogue online yet. Cheers -

From Thursday, K-Mart has another 15% off Lego sale. Edit: Even toys r us are having a big sale starting tomorrow, some things actually at good prices, like Home One for $150 Toys R Us sale plus a free Santa keyring for purchases over $40. Big W also have some nice prices on sets like the City corner for around $74 (about 25% off RRP) and if like me BIg W isn't convenient, just get a copy of the advert and take it to DJs to get them to price match. -

Hi Paul Welcome from another Aussie. We have our own thread here that keeps us up to date with sales around the place that you migth want to take a look at. Aussie Sales -
I own both and would have to say, get the A-wing, it's a beautiful ship, totally swooshable and the little technician extras are great too.

And a note to those in SA and WA, might have been somewhere else as well, the sale isn't here. I got the email about it and tiny writing at the bottom was the list of states excluded from the sale. -
7020 Army of Vikings with Heavy Artillery Wagon
Hewman replied to mikey's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks for the review of this excellent set. I managed to get a copy of it when it came out for just $24 AU, making it one of the best value for money sets ever for me. The number and variation in the figs and printed pieces is way above what sets usually have. Although the catapult isn't the most beautiful thing in the world, the firing mechanism is extremely clever allowing rapid re-firing. The only tiny criticism I have of this set is the difficulty in getting all the vikings to hold on and maintain both legs on the ground, it can get quite fidget for big adult hands. -
To avoid any perception (I'm making no allegations here) of dodgy voting tactics in the star wars competitions I propose that two limitations be placed on voting (if possible). 1. That people have been registered here for a certain length of time e.g. a month; and 2. have a minimum number of posts, just something small like say 10. So far in the battle pack contest, 4/44 voters (4/43) before I voted are members with only one post, the one to vote in this competition. There are also quite a few other voters with little experience on eurobricks. I'm not having a go at any of these people at all but I just think things would look far more open if there were some minor restrictions on voting rights when there are great prizes up for grabs. Thanks for listening (well reading actually in most cases).

Thanks a heap for the link ILikePi, I'll get to ogle the instructions as I spend the next three weeks waiting for S@H to deliver my copy. Even at the slightly inflated Aussie price I think it'll b eworth it.

Yeah it is a little expensive compared to other countries, particularly the US. But I bit the bullet and just ordered one plus an advent calendar which with its snow theme will fit in nicely with the toy shop (along with my shrieking shack). Shipping was $35, so not as bad as it could have been. I'm actually glad for the slow shipping in this case as I won't be tempted to build them way before Christmas as they probably won't arrive until the beginning of November and I can hold out a couple weeks. Yeah their packing is ordinary but they are good at fixing errors, only time it happened to me they sent a hard to find MICSB (Mint In Crushed Sealed Box) star wars set to me for free. -
Best SW set in the 10 years of Lego Star Wars
Hewman replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Given I'm definitely an original trilogy fan, this is going to seem like a strange choice, but I'm going to say the 7133 bounty hunter pursuit, it has a stack of chrome and printed pieces, a fantastic Zam fig and two exceptionally swooshable vehicles to have hours of fun with. -

I'm pretty sure you're right Svelte, I've seen the pitstop at ToysRUs but not the max security transport. -

Thanks, ISC, and happy birthday too. DJ's Adelaide had a smallish selection of sets at 30% off, mainly racers and technic. A few that I remember are the big creator Ferry, 8264 Technic truck ($80 after discount), the $60 speed racer set down to $42 and the star wars AAT at 30% off. Edit: And like the mad fool I am I rushed to post this and responded to the completely wrong post by ISC. -
Brickset reported that Lego shops are saying it will be in stock in the next few weeks and that one store already has a display version hidden out the back. They also reported a pric eof 31.50 pounds, which seems ridiculously cheap to me. Yes, it is a Shop at Home (and Lego Stores) exclusive, as indicated by the 10XXX set number, although sometimes these come to retail stores a long time after the release date, but this being a seasonal set, i wouldn't hold my breath.

No, it's not just you, they have done very little. Thanks for the heads up on the Myer One discount, that gives some sweet deals. -

Myer has some great savings, 20% off a heap of lego and some fantastic priced sets like the city garage for $99. They are also getting the cargo city train deluxe in at $160, haven't seen that one in the stores for a while. -

Target has 20% off all Lego starting Thursday. Here's the first chance to get new castle sets at a discount price and grab any of those pirate sets you missed out on in July. -
Hey, lay off the bunker . Personally I think it is an essential part of any Endor diorama. Anyway, what's so good about the 10198? Besides it being one of the most anticipated sets ever, a beautiful accurate design, what looks like a really strong construction, the much aniticpated Capt. Antilles fig and the total lack of stickers... hmmm, perhaps it is pretty good after all!
-
I love the use of the printed pieces in the speeder. Just from a visual point of view I think it could do with one fig being replaced by a different clone with a bit more colour, but I love your pack as it is, and actually prefer it over the current clone battle pack.

Thanks for that news, Svelte. If only the winter toy toy shop was up I'd put my order in now. I can't see the advent calendars staying at that price, particularly the city one which is $29.99 in the US as well. As for someone asking about the extras in the pirate calendar, my guess is there won't be too many. The piece count for the pirates calendar is 148 compared to 257 for the city one. -

New castle? So the Toyworld exclusivity has run out then! Good news. -
Thanks for the links Alldarker. It looks like an enjoybale build and a very strudy ship, the only downside I see is there's not a lot of playability (the escape pod fits in nicely with the ship but isn't an overly exciting play feature), and not much of an interior which is always going to be a compromise between strength, cost and size.

Medium blue (which is really a pretty light blue) Dark red Purple in all its accidentally slightly varying shades (or is it dark purple, the one in the Harry Potter Knight Bus)
-
I bought just the bunker from the Endor battle set, plus a few of the figs. I already had plenty of speeder bikes, AT-STs and ewok gliders and catapults from previous sets so didn't need them. Plus I got a few of the figs from the 8038 that I didn't already have thrown in, saved me a packet on buying the full set.

My apologies if this has already been mentioned. The limited edition Squidman's Pitstop is available at Toys R Us (Adelaide store at least) and for once they're just charging RRP. They also had a couple new Agents sets, including the helicopter and Robo Attack which I think were both at RRP as well.
