Eurobricks Event 2014 - Trading Post
MstrOfPppts replied to Bfenz's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I too am interested in that offer if anyone from the island would be so kind. Or even if it's purchaseable for £2.49. Might also go for a trade for a ghost polybag -

BANG! PEW! All saboteurs are shot on sight ... -
After some thought I think that limiting it to the number of participants in the faction with lower entries might also lead to an autowin. Presuming that top builds are somewhat equal, the team with more builds would then drop out the ones with the lowest scores, meaning their average would not be lowered so much as the team's with less entries. Maybe going with the top 5 is still the fairest idea here, though this way I think that the others might feel left out ...
-
Ah LegoFjotten, now you're nitpicking! But I agree and I've said it way back, that the quality should not be calculated simply as an average. At least not from results that are on a different scales like the top 5 entries which should first be normalized just as LegoFjotten suggested.
-
The only thing that is not right is the ammount of points given per entry. I understand that you all encourage more people to participate, but it's very wrong to expect that both teams would be balanced regarding the number of active players. As said before, we've always beaten Rebels in quality and here's the proof: episode I: R: (24+23+22+20+19+7+6+6+6+6+6+5+5+5+4+3)/16 = 10.4375 E: (23+20+20+19+18+5+5+4+4+3+3+2)/12 = 10.5 (huge win!) episode II: R: (20+19+16+17+15+6+6+6+5+4+3)/11 = 10.6363 E: (20+17+15+12+4)/5 = 13.6 episode III: R: (22+21+19+17+16+6+5+3+3+3+3)/11 = 10.7272 E: (23+21+19+15+14+6+5+5+2)/9 = 12.2222 Now if you look at the figures all you need to do is find a more suitable multiplier for the number of entries. I'd suggest a number between 0.2 and 0.5. The lower, the better for the Empire. I still think that quality should have a much bigger value than quantity. As Brickdoctor already mentioned, we're all trying to improve eachother's creations. But where's the point in rushing a build just for the sake of having more entries for the team. And after some constructive or even negative feedback, all you hear is someone didn't have enough time or it was just to support the team and so on (and otherwise they're all MOC experts). I really don't want to discourage anyone from building here, but try to think what is your purpose of participating. Do you want to improve your builds, just have fun building or just have fun being part of SoNE no matter what you do? I'm not here for the win and I don't care if the Empire never wins. It's in the story and we already know the final outcome. I am here for I'm a fan of Star Wars and I really miss some nice builds about this theme lately and therefor I also dedicate some of my spare time to help fill the lack of SW builds and always try to do my best. Otherwise I'd go over to neighboring forum and join GoH. Hack, they've even got prizes there an a ton of quality MOCs ... And don't get me wrong here. Most of the SoNE builds are satisfying. I'm just saying that the rules in some places are in contrary to what I think the goal of SoNE is.

SoNE Contest Episode III: Return to Echo Base

Yap, that is correct. So still no intention to change that rule eventhough it is obviously broken? -
Masterpiece! It already looked awesome in LDD, but in real bricks it's so much better. The details all over are astonishing. Great job on this project!

No, it's a sith mind trick, Jedi would have done it in your favour! I too am a bit confused about the results. We slightly beat the Rebels in quality (again) but their amount of builds always does it. Even though this time the number of entries was not multiplied by 2 the quaility still seems a minor thing in this scoring formula? Also you should change such rules before the episode stars, so there is no complaining. So Lobot are you just pulling our leg or what? I had a feeling you're a little biased all the time. Psssssst, Lobot. If there was not such a big difference in the results noone would have done the recount! ;) -

I did in the afternoon, but not in the evening. Guess that means login every day three times at least! -
I'm not sure if it's a new mold but it sure looks ugly. It might just be the print but it makes it look too tall and streched. And what is with these alien's eyes thing? All get the new blue eyes instead of normal black. I didn't like it on Stass Allie and I don't like it on this twi'lek. It should have been just like Oola's!

Oh why didn't I login yesterday?! I'm very interested for that deal so if you still come across anything similar, count me in, please! You can also put me on the reserve list, if anyone decides not tot take it -
Nice junkyard scene! It has a lot of interesting parts behind the fence there. The track is also well designed and the whole build looks smooth and clean. You could easily provide us bigger images to see more details ... My only complaint here would be that the track, the engine and the big ship part are all parallel. Try using more angles (different from 45 degrees) to achieve an even more chaotic look which is for sure more suitable for junkyards.

Nice review! Those really are some great quality images. It seems that they do teach you quite something in the Reviewers Academy.

Designing a LEGO set is confidential material and preliminary pictures are not allowed. Also that could give away some super secret ideas!

Done that about a month ago (both booking the flight and getting excited!) -
What does the European Union have to do with Star Wars!? Oh I get it, you mean the extended universe ... Although I didn't read any SW stuff I still think that this is a great idea! I think that most OT fans that do have a problem with the EU, have more problem with stuff like CW, TOR and other things that are trying to expand the original trilogy, but for the big time and technology difference (in real life and in the content of EU) have quite some problems with the original story canon. But visiting a planet that we all know exists in the universe and not only following the story of Luke or Vader, would be very welcome. After all we're all just ordinary troopers and not the protagonists of the OT storyline ...

[SoNE Ep. III] Snowball fight in sector E
MstrOfPppts replied to MstrOfPppts's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Well it's obvious that not even the Wampa could fit through that crack and it's only there to lure stupid rebels to check what's in there. Another entrance to the cave must exist ... A more detailed observation might reveal thata our Steve carved some holes into the ice to hold the ladder still. This is a professional decorator you're looking at here, not some sloppy rebel at work. The MOC is cut just below the ceeling level where people usually place lights but nayway it's daytime and the opened hanger door lets enough light through for each side to distinguish their members from opponents. The black is only for the background there, it's not night outside ... Hahaha, your comment made me chuckle and it's nice even if it only causes us to chit chat a bit more with some nice people whom I share this nice hobby with!- 13 replies

[SoNE Ep III] Blood Drips at Echo Base
MstrOfPppts replied to Flare's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Those wampas sure are cruel, but hey, so were the rebels exploting the tauntauns and they deserved it. The inclusion of the ceeling is cool and it looks like its detailed too. Is it only where it's visible from the outside or in the middle as well. If so, maybe a shot of the interior with the ceeling on is missing. A lot of detail inside the base an I like the collapsed feeling of parts on the floor. The best part of course are the slaughtered rebels.
