Man, I hadn't even thought about the possibility of a Nexo Knights chess set! The scurriers and squirebots really are perfect for pawns. I hope we'll see one before the year is up!

I understand that. I wouldn't be opposed to that. But I was referring specifically to the post I replied to which described a crisis-like scenario where the G1 and G2 universes were merged by putting both universe's Masks of Time together. That is exactly the sort of convoluted crap that I had been hoping for the story to AVOID—a terrible crossover scenario that completely and irreparably destroys the independence of both universes by merging them together.

Lego Nexo Knights TV Series Discussion
Lyichir replied to DuckBricks's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
He basically crashed into them with a plane. I doubt any of the characters would be up for much fighting after that. -
Technically speaking, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga essentially WAS a remake of the first two Lego Star Wars games. And Lego Indiana Jones 2 remade the levels from the first game as well, didn't it? Not saying Lego necessarily needs to go the remake route, but the early Lego Star Wars games certainly have gotten pretty dated, with most of the sets and minifigures featured in the game having been updated in the years since the original release. And if they decided to fully reimagine the game (rather than just remaking all the levels with updated models), they could probably integrate gameplay features from more recent Lego games like open worlds as well.

That is absolutely the worst direction they could possibly take this, and would fly in the face of the initial concept of this being an independent reboot. I dearly hope that both halves of the new Mask of Time are in the G2 universe, because the last thing the new story needs is alternate universe shenanigans with universe-altering implications.

Have we gotten prices on those summer sets? Otherwise I don't see how you're getting the idea that this set will be the cheapest Zane set ever. Keep in mind that Zane appeared in the $7 Venomari Shrine in 2012.

Yes, that is how store exclusives generally work. There are a few cases where sets are only available through a specific retailer and are not available from Lego, but those are generally promotional items (like the mini-modulars Toys R Us sells exclusively for their "Bricktober" event) or sets that are specific to that retailer's brand (like the Toys R Us truck they released a few years back). Occasionally store exclusive sets don't get added to the shop at exactly the same time as the other sets in the theme, either, but that's not to say they won't be released.

In addition to Onepu the Protector's point, Lewa also has about twice as many parts in his primary color (Bright Green) as Tahu has in his (Bright Red), and the colors are better organized on Lewa (with green parts spread throughout the figure instead of concentrated in only two places). Lewa's textures are also more consistent (instead of having quite so many different textures in the same color vying for dominance), and his overall build is more streamlined.

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
Lyichir replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
The "mystery hair" looks like it might actually match Clay's hair from the Nexo Knights TV series, which doesn't quite match any other existing Lego hairpiece. Which isn't to say that this specific hairpiece is from that theme (I think Clay's hair will probably be a darker brown), but that the mold might be used for Nexo Knights as well.- 4,155 replies

Don't jinx us... it could be which element doesn't SELL well, considering what happened to Stone sets back in G1. I hope not, because I quite like the designs of the stone sets we've gotten so far in G2, and would rather not return to yellows and oranges...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Lyichir replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I mean, I own the original and wouldn't mind a rerelease. I don't know whether or not I'd personally get it (it'd probably depend on just how much has changed), but even if I didn't, a year without a new modular wouldn't kill me, and it'd be nice to know that people who hadn't gotten a chance to get the original could finally fill that gap in their collection. I'm obviously not saying there shouldn't be any new modulars ever (that'd be stupid), but I honestly can't think of a much better way to celebrate the theme's 10-year anniversary before going back to original modulars in 2018. -
It's not a question of respect. Halloween is a far less universal holiday than Christmas, and it's not even religious! Lego is an international company, and has to cater to a wide variety of different cultures. There are large parts of Europe and Asia that don't even celebrate Halloween, and even the parts that do often celebrate it very differently than the mostly American traditions of dressing up in costume and "trick-or-treating". To be honest, I'm surprised you'd say that Lego "doesn't really respect Halloween" when there's pretty much been more Halloween-related content this year than ever, with Scooby Doo, the "Monsters" minifigures series, and arguably even the spooky ghost-based Ninjago summer wave and skeleton-based Bionicle summer wave. I think it's been a pretty good year for Halloween in Lego, all things considered.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Lyichir replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I honestly think that'd be a great idea, especially if they revamped it like they did with the Winter Village Toy Shop and added things like an interior and glass for the windows. That'd practically be enough to make it feel like a brand-new building! And people would no longer have to feel pressured to pay outrageous prices on the aftermarket for the original. -
LDD vs. Ldraw
Lyichir replied to HruppertDK's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I tend to use LDD. From my experience, it's more "user-friendly", since the building process has more in common with actual real-life Lego building. And until it stopped updating, it tended to be much better about having recent parts from themes I like such as Bionicle and Hero Factory that tend to be more of an afterthought in Ldraw. At this point, though, with no updates in over a year and none on the horizon, I should probably explore other options more... -
Given that we have no indication that the Simpsons theme is even continuing beyond the current slate of products, I don't see a full game happening. MAYBE Doctor Who, but even that is currently a very niche license with only a single Ideas set outside of Lego Dimensions, and until the theme has expanded more I don't think a full video game would be the best idea.
-
To be honest, I see a lot of comments like this, and I think they're just as wrong as they were when people were saying the exact same thing about Minecraft. The game may not be the newest, freshest thing anymore, but it's one of the most popular titles in the mobile gaming sphere, and I wouldn't be surprised if even the original game still is downloaded by hundreds of new users every day (a number that will surely go up when the movie brings the brand back into the public consciousness). I also still see TONS of Angry Birds merchandise in stores, including kids' T-shirts, and I rarely ever see any evidence that the brand has lost any of its appeal with Lego's demographic. Lego does do better with classic licenses than they do with "fads", but I think calling Angry Birds a "fad" ignores the fact that the brand and characters are probably more widely recognized by many members of the current generation than even classic video game icons like Mario or Sonic.

Star Wars Constraction 2016 Discussion
Lyichir replied to Logan McOwen's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I gave it a try on LDD today but couldn't come up with a riot control staff that I was happy with. It's hard to recreate the shape and size while still keeping things relatively simple. I do think different armaments for characters are a great MOCing opportunity, though, and I'll probably give it another go at some point. -
Actually, I'm pretty sure those aren't the eagle wings from LotR (though I got the joke ), but rather the smaller pegasus wings from Elves. It'll be nice to get those in a more realistic color than silver or gold.
-
Unfortunately, like many other fan-created Lego CAD programs, Mecabricks tends to lack a lot of parts from less traditional themes. Very little Bionicle, for example. The great thing about LDD is that it updates fairly promptly with new parts (or at least, it used to...) and did not tend to overlook more specialized or atypical parts. LDD was pretty much the best at what it did, and I'll be deeply disappointed if it is completely abandoned.

I mean, Doctor Who has featured castles before from time to time, as well. But it is still unknown what sort of further sets there might be. Even if there are more sets, that could be anything from a large set like the Ghostbusters Firehouse to a series of minifigures like The Simpsons.
-
I don't think that's necessarily the case. It's most likely in Lego's best interest to not release ALL their themes at the same time. There's also probably a lot of overlap between fans of Elves and Friends, after all, and as such Lego probably benefits from spacing the release dates out. And we don't exactly have any indication that the March release hurt the sales of Elves—if it didn't, why mess with success?
-
I don't see why it should have to be easy to mod one of a set's key features away? I mean, to each their own, but if Lego cared that much about people who didn't want the waist geared, they probably wouldn't have geared it in the first place. As they say, you can't please everybody... the fact that the Star Wars torso has even shown up as an alternative in the first place should be seen as a boon to modders, rather than complaining that it's not available enough.

Thanks for the review! Your pictures are a lot better than the ones from The Brothers Brick's review. Though the way you've posed it in horse mode is odd... I feel like its legs are angled too far back, making it look like it's stretching across a gap or something. I feel like if you ratcheted those joints forward a notch or two it'd look better.

It's March in Germany, and I'm guessing it'll be the same worldwide. Which is kind of a shame, since the only reason we have those good Ninjago pics is because it's a March release in the U.S. but releases in January in Great Britain and I think the rest of the world.
