  1. I meant the size of the model. I thought the build would be tiny. Don't get me wrong, it's not $70, but it is much more sizable than 200 parts suggest. With or without mario, I can't imagine a 1000 part set in this system with these massive parts being the size of a $100 dollar set. That's my point.
  2. Well, if that’s 200 parts, then there’s no way a 1000 piece set will be $100 dollars. That’s a lot more sizable than I thought it would be for the part count, honestly. Somethings up here for sure, it’s not adding up.
  3. I think it was a question of recoloring it rather than the part not existing anymore, they mention that putting in the monkey (or whatever else they wanted) would have resulted in losing something else that just couldn't be lost. In that respect, the interview makes you realize how limited their budget for this set was, there was so much they just couldn't do. I really do hope we get a monkey soon, that's just too good of a part to be lost forever.
  4. It's weird that it looks like he's a normal human, he doesn't have any monkey features. Also, the modern look makes this more interesting too. Huh.
  5. I've been thinking about making a more proportional brick built mario to go with the digi-fig scale sets. You might even be able to use the same hat piece, I feel like with the right design it could work.
  6. Yeah, I'm really liking the return to form with redbeard here. The 2015 one had a good torso, but the face really didn't do it for me. This one's a much better match! I also like the small patch of grey hair, after all, redbeard's pretty old at this point! It's also a nice tie in with the original project, with that older redbeard having a long beard and a crutch, and there's still a chance that either of those parts make it in. Along with the tattooed chest, this set's going to have a great minifig selection!
  7. Oh, that's fine. I get that life's been messy, especially right now, and I guess all of us are using this hobby as an escape for the moment. I really feel like the way that lego has presented this has only made it more confusing. They should have just done what they usually do and show us complete sets, not this mishmash of however many sets it is, because right now we're left to speculate on "which sets have mario?" And "are they all like this?" Or who knows what. The lack of clear answers to all of this doesn't really help anyone. I hope we find this all out sooner than later, so we can finally know for sure what we're getting. (And whether or not to be disappointed)
  8. Ah, that makes more sense. But, what's the point in saying "we will have some more exciting news to share on that in the future"? What could be exciting about a removable hat? Unless he just meant the figure in general, maybe. Edit: I know mario odyssey has all the hat mechanics, but if they made sets for that in this figure style I would go mad.
  9. Well, here's another interview, and, in my opinion, a more interesting one. https://www.brothers-brick.com/ It's confirmed that this is meant to be a long term liscene, "we haven't worked for four years just to release one wave of products". They've also been reading all the online reactions from this announcement, they clearly know how we feel about this. Also, about other characters, the head of the mario figure is removable, so I guess that's how they'll make mew characters; same body, new head. Honestly, this interview makes me more interested in the theme.
  10. Here's the tweet: https://mobile.twitter.com/Solid_Brix/status/1238181904261709825 Yup, that's what it says. This means that, since Nintendo wants it, it might still be on the table? Lego should be able to see the value in making normal sets as well, especially if the IP is willing...
  11. Just realized something... Remember when hidden side was revealed? We were told that physical ghosts would NEVER be made, but look at this year's into the hidden side set, we got exactly that. Maybe in the future, if this goes well, we'll get something... Um, I'd like to see that, because that sounds suspicious to me. Nintendo loves to do weird stuff, they would love to do something like this, this has to be their idea, else it wouldn't have taken 4 years to make. Yeah, no, this doesn't feel like the truth to me.
  12. Well, he asked the Minifig question... And of course the reply is “I can’t say”. Then again, that was the response regarding anything but what was seen in the video, so I guess it’s just standard procedure. Beyond that, it’s clear that Nintendo and LEGO have been working hard on this, 4 years can’t be for nothing!
  13. True, LEGO is doing more of these kinds of things, and I get the concern. Yeah, who knows what's goin got happen in the future. My guess is that this serves to record high scores and to update the software when new sets come out. Else, I’d have no idea why it’s so bulky.
  14. Well, LEGO is still succeeding right now, and even then, it’s only one theme, unlike in the 2000’s where most themes were like that. If this fails miserably, it’s ok because it’s only one theme. I’m sure LEGO can recover from that. Also, I don’t think the Mario needs an app to work. It’s size looks to be big enough to fit everything it needs inside. Besides, the sets aren’t useless without it, you still have Mario, and all the enemies, and the play features. Yes, the looks of the figure were sacrificed for this, and I’m not sure quite how I like it yet, but I hope it works out well, and I could see this being successful.
  15. Well, the small text at the bottom explicitly says so. The more I look at this, the more I realize that most of this looks really good... except for Mario. Seriously, all the other builds and characters look great, but rectangular mario is the one aspect that I'm not liking that much. With this scale, maybe you could make a better brick built one?
  16. Now I really do wonder what the 1000 piece set will be. What would a set that size look in this system? I’m very curious indeed. Ehh, maybe, that could explain the sheer quantity of sets, but who knows. I’m sure we’ll get minifigs eventually.
  17. Well, I’ll give them this, it’s interesting, and a great attempt to mimic the actual game out of this. Like everyone else is saying, though, please, just one normal Minifig! Please! Besides that, Yoshi and bowser junior look great, even better than Mario honestly, and these play features look well built. So, I’m still holding out, but my excitement for this theme has dismissed somewhat...
  18. Well, I’m pretty sure he’s just making a well founded assumption. In the last 2 years, we’ve gotten an ideas set in April, and the original submission came with 7 Minifigs, so I think it’s just a guess on his part. He’s probably not wrong though! Meanwhile... https://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-ideas-music-building-contest-plus-chance-to-become-official-set/ One of the prizes for this context is the next idea set! That means that it’ll probably be revealed soon, and Pirate Bay is a good contestant for which one is coming next (no license, not overly complicated). So, let’s hope we’re right on this one!
  19. Well, the piece count on stonewars (that come from Amazon) shows that the bling bag piece count is 23, too many for a cmf. I feel like we are all hyping this up too much, we’re probably getting a power up blind bag, but no cmf.
  20. Yeah, here’s a link to the stonewars article that also has the leaf prices: https://www.stonewars.de/news/lego-super-mario-kommt/ Whatever leaf is, it has 4 $10 dollar sets, so if leaf is Mario, then the figure we’ve seen in the teaser is a good fit for those four sets. Besides, I don’t think LEGO would be willing to put electronics in every single set in the theme, that’d be way too expensive, especially for us!
  21. Maybe these big blocky figures will be the $10 dollar gimmick sets, like this year’s Ninjago arcade pods and friends play cubes. I think the leaf price list had some $10 dollar sets, could it be those? Also possible, but $4 seems cheap for these big blocky electronic parts, especially if one Minifig costs $5 now. My guess? They could be accessories, different power ups and such.
  22. I started play Mario odyssey recently, and I was really starting to think how cool it would be to get LEGO Mario, and now here we are! I’m really hoping that they do make normal Minifigures, especially since the question mark block is out of scale with this weird figure. If they are all like this, however, I’ll be disappointed. My guess? They’ll handle this like the Minecraft theme, with the different separate blocks that can be rearranged to make new levels. That would be cool.
  23. The sets release august, I think, so it could be a while, if there isn’t a dedicated reveal.
  24. You know, that would be a great idea. I was recently looking back at classic sets and found the variety those old sets had to be the best part about them, to see some of them reimagined would be great. besides that, the game has am interesting mix of both modern and classic pirate mini figs and sets, like how the admiral, cook, and pirate queen from 2015 are used, but the captain is good old red beard, and the imperial soldiers are also classic figures, on top of a few others. For the sets, they use the 2015 brick bounty but otherwise they are all classic sets.
  25. It’s the announcement for the data from all of 2019, I see no reason that LEGO would show a new theme there.
