Lego themes that we would like to happen
x105Black replied to YellowCorvette's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As long as they continue to produce the traditional sets as well, I'm completely behind you. The problem comes when they make a mash-up of, say, Castle and Sci-fi, but then don't have any Castle or Sci-fi sets on the shelves.- 451 replies

I doubt that will be an issue, since he'll probably have a big molded head if we get him.- 4,155 replies

As much as people (myself included) would love to see Vikings or other civilizations, I really don't think I'd personally be satisfied until traditional European Medieval Fantasy comes back. While the other cultures could still be Castle, to me that's the real core of the theme.

Well that's a nifty treasure chest. I wish it had a bluish grey lid. The first set you posted has my favorite villain minifigure, but the rest of the set is pretty useless to me. The second set there has no appeal to me. I really want the Lance minifigure (mostly for the visor since it's the best visor in the theme), but his Robo-Horse set looks absurd and isn't going to be a cheap one. I'll wait for BrickLink or a cheaper version. I might pick up this one: Because many pieces will be useful, it's got a book, and I really like the evil minifigure. Not as big a fan of the Knight, I suppose his visor could be useful but it's not my favorite. The Pac-Man Podracer is ridiculous, the only thing I'm really interested in is Macy (again, mostly for parts like the plume and a decent visor). But it also has a book and those pyramid pieces, so I suppose it's a possibility. I might end up BrickLinking what I want out of it, or waiting for a cheaper set with Macy. And the Racecar has that nice looking evil minifigure again, but the rest of it looks pretty useless. Too bad they replaced the Chrome Sword with that new techno-blade. I think I'll have to buy a few of this villain minifigure on BrickLink as well. I'm glad he's in 3 sets, but he's in the sets that appeal to me the least. I might end up with this set: Even though I don't have a need for most of the bricks. But Lance and the little girl are great, as is the book. Looks like they finally made a Balrog, and they threw the Queen into that set. The King's Mech might be a buy, for some reason I'm a sucker for nice looking mechs and this one has the King. Or maybe I'll find him on BrickLink for a reasonable price. Thanks for the images, CM4Sci!

There's supposed to be a C-3PO Polybag in November.

Ah, my mistake. Shadow Scouts are the best, but Storm Commandos are really cool as well.

That's an issue I also have with the dresses / skirts. I hate how they are taller. I'd prefer a new piece, too. But I doubt it will happen. We might be more likely to see this piece repurposed.- 4,155 replies

Is Nexo Knighs a Castle theme? No! Pretty self explanatory. It's not a Castle theme, it's a Big Bang Action Adventure theme like Ninjago and Chima. Do you like what we have seen so far? No. Hate it I'm not at all a fan of this theme as a whole, but some minifigures and parts are pretty well done. Are you planning to get Nexo Knights sets? Might get something! I might end up getting a couple of sets for some of the minifigures or parts, but I might buy them on the secondary market. Do you like this new style of LEGO themes supported by media? (Ninjago, Chima, Nexo Knights) No! I don't mind that there is media to support these themes, but I'm not always keen on the actual content of that media. I don't think Ninjago is too bad a show, but I didn't like Chima, and from what I've seen I don't think I'll like Nexo Knights.

That would be Nexo Knights, not Castle. It would have to be loosely based, since Magic is owned by another toy company. But it would be pretty cool. Castle 2013 felt like a perfunctory Castle wave, like they were just doing it to do it. It would be really nice if they went out of their way to make it something great (without overthinking or overdoing it).

Thanks for all of the thoughtful responses so far! There are a lot if interesting and thought-provoking perspectives on this issue.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's not exactly a new mold, but it has never been used for this purpose, as far as I can tell. And there are many different printed versions of the piece. Here's one that's pretty close to our needs: It's actually a baby's bib. I think that for our purposes, it would need printing on front and back, as well as the sides. I don't think that has been done before, either. And as someone pointed out above, it would be nice to see it with the raised studs on legs so that a minifigure torso could stay on more securely. -
I would think they would count, as long as they aren't techno-Chinese. I'd love to see some Eastern, Persian, Greco-Roman, Viking, or other influences. I am a fan of classic Castle sets with different Lion, Falcon, Wolf, Deer, and Dragon factions all existing simultaneously within one main theme. They could use this basic idea, but give them different building styles and geographical locations. Imagine a Castle theme with factions like Western Lions (or Unicorns, or simply Crowns) alongside Eastern Dragons, Persian Falcons, Viking Wolves, Indian Deer. Maybe even Egyptian or Greco-Roman themed factions, as well. Each would have themed structures, vehicles, and distinct armor and weaponry. I don't think it would be likely, since LEGO wouldn't want to make any of these cultures out to be evil, but would want clear-cut good guys and villains. So to resolve that issue, maybe there would have to be a common threat to all of these civilizations, like the skeleton and goblin villains from the Fantasy Era. Something like that could be really cool, especially if executed with all of the care and attention given to some other big themes.

I'd prefer to see it done like the dewback as a new molded creature, except for the brick-built box around it's head.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
x105Black replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If true, sounds pretty exciting. I hope that innovative hot-dog-like minifigure is the Banana Suit Guy. If it turns out to be something else, I'm hoping he's talking about these legs: I am hoping for some image leaks soon. There were leaks at least this far ahead of Series 14. -
I take it you like the castle.
-
It's OK, false alarm, it turned out to be Nexo Knights.
-
Maybe. Could just be a "zombie" eye and big red lips, but it certainly looks like it could be blood. On a zombie character, I'd be much less surprised by the appearance of blood.
-
That's just more scarring. Not even red bloody scars.

Yeah, I really like the printing on the legs, and the torso of the guy on the right. I'd probably switch out his arms, but looks good.
