  1. This is a beautiful build, with so much to see. I absolutely love the overall design, from the structure to the landscaping, and everything else. The dock area looks great, and the surrounding water is nice. I love the staircase design with the curved steps. I also love the dark red structural elements. I also love the way the dark grey stone work stands out from the light grey rock with the moss. The room that peeks out from the rock is really nicely done as well. The use of both stone walls and wooden fences adds good variation, and both fit in well with the surroundings. The design of the trees is very interesting, as well. Excellent work!
  2. What about the newest Big Bang theme? I guess it's still a bit early to tell how ratings and sales are going, but I feel that the Nexo Knights television show is atrocious. I', not a fan of Ninjago, but it's much better than Nexo Knights.
  3. If true, I am disappointed in both LEGO's ability to make actual Castle sets appealing, and in the children's desires for the flashy overdone content. But I suspect you may be right, and I'll chalk it up to LEGO's uninspiring Castle designs rather than Nexo Knights being any better as a theme.
  4. That's a shame, Orient Expedition was much better than Chima. There may be something to the European vs American markets argument, though. At the same time, I would have gobbled up ThunderCats, which arguably wouldn't have been all that much different. But the official license would have made it much more appealing.
  5. Actually, I kind of like that Boat Repair Shop as well. I don't see it making the cut, but it's nicely done. I'd also prefer the Old Fishing Store by the same builder, which is currently in review.
  6. Thanks for that Shark picture. I loved it. I was hoping the teeth would be a bit more visible, but it still gives that sense of many rows of them.
  7. I still see them, discounted for months, on the shelves at Walmart and on the discount table of the LEGO Store.
  8. 1st off, we've veered off topic quite a bit by this point, and I would welcome these posts being moved to a new topic for discussion. Either way, I'll continue. Naida's ship is one of the better Elves sets, and has one of the better color schemes. I'd call that one the anomaly. There is also the concept of prominence. In the Magical Bakery, the pink rooftop is very prominent While it may not be made of many bricks, it takes up a good chunk of your view when looking at the set. There's also the factor of overall color. The yellows in that set are very bright, and they make the whole thing look so colorful. Colorfulness in itself isn't a bad thing, but all of these bright pinks and yellows, together with light blues and lavenders in other sets, makes for a very bright and colorful scheme that to many is not pleasing to the eye. I personally find it to be garish. The first wave of Elves was guiltiest of these charges, and they have indeed improved. I appreciate the sets much more now than I did initially. The minidolls are the primary obstacle for me, but that's another discussion altogether. On to the other point. The color schemes of that era of Castle have to be taken for what they were. There wasn't the myriad colors there are today, and they were much more primitive in design. With full hindsight, I would say that Knight's Challenge has too basic a color scheme. I find it to be very indicative of the limited color palette of its time. Red, yellow, and blue everywhere. While these events were often colorful affairs, it is not how most of us picture the medieval era, or even medieval fantasy. Wolfpack Renegades is indeed too blue. If that set were being made today, I would hope that it would be largely composed of brown or dark brown pieces, maybe dark red or black (then again, the CMF Rogue who wears the Wolfpack insignia is mostly dark green, so what do I know). Also, I do think that blue and red are more appropriate for a medieval or medieval fantasy setting than pink or magenta. In fact, I think that dark blue and dark red are even more appropriate. I forgive LEGO for Castle's early color schemes, because the sets themselves were basic examples of the more complex and intricate sets I hoped for further down that road. What I hoped for didn't include bright blue and trans-neon-orange tank fortresses or pink Polly Pocket bakeries sitting at that road's dead end.
  9. Very cool. I need to get more of them, myself. I only got 2 today. I should have continued looking, but I figure I'll see them around again, and I was already buying 1/4 of a box.
  10. Agreed on both counts. A female pirate in the minifigure series would be great.
  11. Even better would be if the dark green parts were changed to dark red or dark brown, or even black or dark grey. Then he'd look more like the Wolfpack member his insignia designates.
  12. The Kabuki Twins could be useful minifigures for me. Robin's glasses are so goofy, I might just have to get this set. Also, those mentioning the Phantasm, I'd love that.
  13. None of them stick out to me, personally, but the Landrover looks like the kind of thing LEGO would want to release. Doesn't mean I like it, though. I guess I kind of like the Plum Creek set, despite my lack of interest in Little House on the Prairie, but it looks like too many pieces to be approved (the same could be said of a few of the other better submissions in the Most Supported category).
  14. As much as I love the fact that this is a tribute to 375 Castle and Krentz, I think a lot more AFOL Castle fans would vote for it if it didn't have the yellow color scheme. Sad, really, because it's a great build.
  15. Well we might have to arrange a trade. I don't really care for the figure, but I've got to keep the penguin. He's the reason I bought it. To me, the Photographer and Dog Show Winner are like the Farmer and Animal Control from the previous series. I don't care for the minifigure, I just want the animal. Maybe his arms and legs could be used to customize a Spider-Man minifigure, though. As for my favorites, the Rogue is an easy one for me. The red cape is just a little detail that covers a bit of his chest and back, and hangs over his arm. I don't think a real cape is necessary, but it might looks good. Those look terrifying. If you have the Shark Suit Guy, I'd love to see that (even though I know he was from the last series). In all, I've got the Rogue, Arabian, Scallywag Pirate, Snow Queen, Mariachi, Devil Suit Kid, Penguin Suit Kid, Wildlife Photographer, Dog Show Winner, and Banana Suit Guy. I don't think I'd care for more, other than to get a few duplicates of my favorites (Rogue, Arabian, and Scallywag Pirate). Maybe another Devil Suit Kid for customization. I also love the Mariachi and Penguin Suit Kid, those are great. Good series!
  16. I don't get what's so great about that LHC set. I mean, I get that science is popular, and I love that, but that set just doesn't look like anything special.
  17. Nobody wants them. Even 50% off doesn't move them.
  18. I would say yes. The bright colors of Nexo Knights are definitely a drawback for me. As for the 20% pink and purple, that's a lot. That's 1/5 of the set! I don't mind the purple as much as the pink. In fact, I wish dark purple (using BrickLink terminology) was used more in Castle and Pirates sets. It is a very underused color in those themes.
  19. Same. I just picked up a bunch of minifigures and I'm about to open them, but I already love the Rogue from what I've seen.
  20. The two are so different, I don't see how that would be an issue.
  21. Wow, that does look really nice. Thanks for the picture!
  22. Yes, I also want a Steve minifigure. Who here doesn't?
  23. I've bolded your fallacy. It should read: "caused by their idiocy while playing the game." The idiocy is the cause. If idiots allow themselves to be distracted by the game, it is their fault, not the game's.
