  1. @deki Check this step: The gears use 1 tan pin and 1 blue pin. Maybe you use 2 blue pins. Blue pins are the ones with friction, while tan ones without.
  2. It's simple: Someone would announce that they have the link, and everyone just needs to PM them for pic.
  3. Same fate on amazon.de. 42070 is now on sale for 186 EUR there. From 250 EUR to 186 EUR, mighty long fall.
  4. I found this MOD while looking for a set on ebay.de. The set owner put the BBox behind the cab. I think this MOD is worth applying because it not only reduces the tension of the motor cable but also cover the protruding engine in the back.
  5. I think the live from the Lego Vault concludes everything there is to do with the 40 year anniversary. Can't really imagine what is there to do next given that it's only two more months until the release of 2018 1H (1H are usually released in December of the prior year instead of Jan 1st of that year).
  6. I browsed brickset and found that there hasn't there been any set with double rear 49.5 wheels.
  7. I think that pic matches the silouette most. In the silhouette there's a noticeable gap between the front wheel arch and the bumper, and the truck in your pic seems to have that too.
  8. But, but, there are no hood mirrors in the silouhette D:
  9. OH! I've just realized that the Mack Anthem has another pair of mirrors on the hood, but the silhouette doesn't indicate them. So maybe it's not gonna be the Anthem..
  10. I dont get why some people still think the Mack is going to have Arocs wheels. The silouhette indicates pretty clearly (at least to me) that it has wheels of the Mining Truck. And since the Mack has the price of the Xerion I'm raising my hopes for dual tyres of the truck. That'd mean this set will have 14 wheels in total! I'm hoping TLG isn't stingy in this regard. It's a licensed truck after all, and the last licensed truck (Arocs) has proper dual tyres.
  11. In light of the new sets since 2013, I think it's worth updating this thread. Semi B-models now include: 42042, 42043, 42054, 42066 Ugly B-models now include: 42029, 42030, 42037, 42070. And I think we have an undisputable winner for the worst B model: 42070.
  12. So the 42039 equivalent is now degraded into second place of 1H, while the 42054 equivalent from 2H is now the flagship of 1H. TLG upped the ante this time. Good indication for even more outrageous prices in 2H.
  13. Yeah I dont think the Mack need PF either. TLG seems to expand the range of racing things lately. Race car, race truck, race kart. This year we have race jet and tracked racer. Next year, race catamaran yacht. Lol what's next then. Race rocket, race helicopter, race loader, race excavator...
  14. Wait, isn't it really unusual that the official name of the Mack truck is simply... "Mack Truck"? I mean, previous licensed sets have official name as the official model code name of the real life machine it is based on, like "L350F", "3245", "EW160E"... And here we have: Mack Truck. How original and descriptive! Shouldn't the alternative's official name be like, "Mack Truck B model" or "Mack Truck Alternative Model" also !
  15. Remember the days when set numbering still makes sense? Pepperidge Farm ... doesn't either.
  16. @I_Igor LOL I dont think our speculation has any effect on the set as the design must have been finalized by now.
  17. But I really don't think a gearbox or PF is necessary for the side loading container. Look at this: The trailer can simply have 3 knobs that control 3 pairs of LAs in the back. The sets that have gearbox and are PF upgradable generally have only two functions, while this type of trailer has 3 functions. There could be the possibility that the cranes just use 1 pair of LAs and push through scissor lift structure though. On the other hand, if it turns out to have built in PF I think it will be similar to the 42043 B model, with 4 functions: 2 of the cranes, 1 of the outriggers, 1 of the lending legs. However, given that this trailer is in a smaller scale than the 42043 B model trailer, I don't think this second possibility is very likely.
  18. How about this possibility: The Mack is PF upgradable and to install the BBox you have to remove the interiors of the sleeper cab. Like the way it's done with 42068 Airport Rescue Vehicle.
  19. I wonder how the sleeper cab will be viewable in the Mack Anthem. According to the introduction the sleeper cab is directly behind the seats and is only accessible from that. I mean, there are only doors that open to the driving seats and no door to the sleeper cab. Does that mean the roof will be liftable or openable or something?
  20. The catalog said explicitly "The alternate model is another iconic MACK vehicle builders will love".
  21. The official MSRP: - 42070: 289.99 USD, 249,99 EUR (in Germany) - 42030: 249.99 USD, 219.99 EUR (in Germany) What you saw on amazon.de is a 15% discount on 42070 and a hike in new 42030 as 42030 is already retired.
  22. The controller problem with 42070 is basically like this: - For the XL motor, in drive mode pushing the controller forward will make the truck go forward, but in the outrigger mode it will make the outrigger go down. - For the M motor, in LA mode pushing the controller upward will make the crane go down. So I swap the gear in the outrigger and change the reverser for the knob corresponding with the M motor.
  23. I've just finished building the 42070. I've decided to abandon the bandwagon and instead join the @Jimwagon and unabashedly declare that I really like building and looking at this set. And I like the colorful chassis too.
