  1. Not really a fair comparison but youre right that the value for 60051 is pretty great atm. If you want to do a fair comparison you have to look at 60051s original retail. 60051 has 610 pieces plus PF for 119.99. Compare that to 10254 with 734 pieces but no PF for 89.99. Add the PF parts to 10254 and you get a very comparable price to 60051.
  2. still no catalog in the mail...
  3. I am wondering the same thing. I really like getting the two collectors sets to make small additions to my village. I was hoping they might be train themed to go along with this years train. I thought TLG did this really well with Santas workshop and the two elf/toy sets
  4. Finally found a serenader today! Grabbed another wildlife photographer as well mainly for the penguin
  5. Would love a link if anyone finds an online version!
  6. Can anyone confirm that its actually out. I don't have a Lego store anywhere to check and I haven't seen any trace of it online yet
  7. I think its fair to say this train is a winter village set that happens to be a train rather than a train that happens to work with a winter village. Due to this, I think its going to be disappointing to train enthusiasts but winter village collectors will largely be happy with it
  8. I thought so too at first but after looking through brickset I found the price per piece is completely in line with other sets.
  9. I would hope that nobody would be actively trying to insult someone over like or dislike of a set. There's plenty to pick from after all. Some people don't like the train and that's fine. Money talks in the end but IMO this set will be a great seller for TLG
  10. I think you are probably correct. Blacktron sets were some of my favorite as a kid also
  11. Great point. After the nasty email I sent TLG last year I will make sure to send them a positive one this year.
  12. Really nice additions to the train Mouseketeer. I think the size of the train is my only real complaint with this set so I plan on adding a few cars to the train as well. Out of curiosity I compared this train to other trains for number of pieces and price. This train seems to be a really good value with the inclusion of track.
  13. Thanks CM4Sci. That helps put any color concerns to rest from previous pictures.
  14. Whoa! I didn't expect to hear that from anyone after last years remake Its good to see that there are opinions on all sides! I am just glad to see Lego not scrap the winter village after last year. All indications were that sales for last years toy shop fell well under expectation and it would've been pretty easy for Lego to use that as reason to discontinue the WV line. I even saw some rumors circling the internet of exactly that. Thankfully Lego has responded with what I think is a great set for this year. I hope sales see a boost to encourage the continuation of the WV for coming years!
  15. I wondered the same thing. Best guess is somewhere in between. The video to me looks a bit muted based on other WV sets. The color on the pictures appears to be really blown out and loud which I seriously doubt will be the actual color.
  16. Set looks much better in the video than I originally thought it would. I was pretty excited for the set but after seeing the addition of the spinning tree this is a must buy now! Can't wait to add a little chugga chugga to our winter village!
  17. Turns out its just a grandma with a neck tie..
  18. Are you sure that's a woman? The neck tie is throwing me off and making me think magician
  19. I actually thought the sarcastic comment about a candy shop was rather funny. Who can forget the endless speculation of last year only to get another toy shop...smh Hoping the train turns out better than you think finish-last. Who knows? It might look great in your village
  20. Looks like 3-3.5 to me as well but I think that's actually ok for the winter village scale. Any smaller and it starts to look like the train from last year and obviously you don't want it much bigger. I'm excited to have a train that I don't have to explain as a "ride for kids" like last years or the emerald express.
  21. I find the new train to be quite attractive and should make a great addition to most winter villages. I can see that if you own the old holiday train you might be disappointed but a large portion of winter village enthusiasts didn't start their collections until 2009 when the holiday train was long gone. I also don't think it looks that much like holiday train. Some similarities will exist and should be obvious but the trains have some pretty big differences in palette and feel. If I have any complaint its that I wish they used darker reds and greens to tie in better with some of the WV buildings. I'm also hoping that the two smaller collector sets will be train themed. That might be a way to introduce a train platform and ticket booth.
  22. Nice job!
  23. Can't wait to see what they come up with for a winter train. I missed out on the old winter train and could really use one to go with my winter village.
