  1. I just have gotten the German LEGO catalogue, and since the Skull Baddies names are more descriptive titles rather than names (like Tahu, Gali...), they were actually all translated into German. That striked me as odd as first, but it actually makes sense. It's just that it rarely happened within the Constraction lines, were most sets had unique character names.
  2. Actually, by comparing a few hands, it seems that the clips are more fitting for figures in the Legends Class scale (in fact, the Cyberverse figures ofen had clips for hands to hold their weapons), but many Deluxe figures also happen to have rather sleek-looking hands. I think the closest thing to these would be bricks with holes (like the Technic 1x1 Brick), though these parts also look very blocky, so the Chima Hammer Head seems to be the next best thing.
  3. Sorry to bump this, but I'm not sure where I should ask this instead... I'm currently thinking about revamping Warhawk with the intention of giving him proper hands. I actually already redesigned the cyan part of his lower arms to look sleeker, but it still irks me that his "hands" look somewhat puny when compared to actual TF figures. Now, for new hands, my first thought were the Chima Hammer heads, as those are vaguely fist-shaped and actually also have the right size, but the thing is they are to my knowledge currently only available in flat silver, meaning I'd be required to overhaul Warhawk's colour scheme as well so the hands don't stick out too much. So, does anybody got ideas how to fix this issue? Like good-looking builds for TF-fists in the proper scale? Or are there any news of the Chima Hammer Head coming in other colors yet?
  4. As someone who actually only checks in every so often to check out if there are any news regarding the sets themselves (I actually never really got that deep into the story of Bionicle, I watched only a few movies and checked some of the bonus discs out), I'd appreciate the split into two separate threads.
  5. I can answer my own question, as I encountered the new Mixels today. Since I needed azure slopes for my TF-MOC, I actually instantly bought 2 Snoofs because Chilbo was nowhere to be seen in the one toy store I checked... but when I later went to an electronic store, they had for whatever reason suddenly a huge LEGO selection, including all the new Mixels. Personally, I really like the Frosticons the most, but its mostly because of their parts. I like azure and blue, especially since any new azure parts come in handy to upgrade Warhawk, and the trans-blue pieces are also pretty darn great. I also like the Klinkers though, especially the one with the lanky arms whose name I just kinda forgot Jinky.
  6. Does anybody know if the new Mixels are already out in Germany? I'm really looking forward to the Frosticons and some of the Klinkers.
  7. Those Voodoo Heads are an interesting find. I like the Rahi-like creature with the "moving head forward and biting" action. As for the Necrons... err Skull folks, I'm still unsure which one I want to get. Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder looks like a great set, as Mask Maker as already a nice built from the get-go and Skull Grinder comes with a healthy amount of those new axes (he looks also pretty cool). Skull Slicer might be a good parts pack, while Skull Basher looks also pretty cool. I also like Skull Warrior, even though his toes kinda stick out (but they'll be great for MOCing). Skull Scorpio is the only one I'm not that much interested in, though the black bone thingies and the mask might be useful parts I'm still lacking in my own collection, so who knows.
  8. Those "Grumpy Sparrows" were theoretically useful to get LEGO-scaled TF heads, if it weren't for the fact they were based on the crossover with Grumpy Sparrows. (nothing against the crossover itself, from the few snippets of the comic I've read, its actually pretty fun, but I'd like to build Transformers, not Transavians) Well, anyway, I'm almost to late to share my thoughts on the new sets, eh? I like Cody, he comes with useful parts, and both white and orange are versatile colours. His back looks kinda odd, but I can live with that. As for Jango, I have mixed feelings. I really love his helmet, and while I appreciate the new colors he comes with, I'm afraid I won't have much use for them in terms of MOCing due to how limited sand blue is right now in CCBS. Perhaps that changes in the future though. Right now, I think I'll go for Jango, Vader and Grievy, and out of these three, I will most likely keep Vader intact. The other two are more likely to end as parts packs for me.
  9. I'm really looking forward to the new Frosticons, mostly because I love Medium Azure and I could need some of the new parts to revamp my MOC Warhawk (I want to redesign his upper arms). I guess they'll be released in Germany sometime around June, right?
  10. I like Grievous, though I probably say that mostly for the truckload of interesting parts he comes with. Obi Wan looks also cool though, and I appreciate they went with a style similiar to the animated series, as that would lend itself fairly well to a head for a constraction figure. Griev and Vader are right now on my top list. I'm also more curious about the remaining 2 now!
  11. Heh, that's a really nice picture. I still can't decide which one of these is my favourite here, though I guess it's Tahu, because until now it never occured to me that he could also use his surfboard sword like an actual surfboard on water instead of lava.
  12. As already stated back then, Axonn wins in my book. My trusty Self-MOC even started out as a modded Axonn until Phantoka Kopaka and Gelu came around to redefine his overall design (and later, the CCBS to improve his poseability). I'm also very fond of Gelu, Gresh and Lewa Nuva. Oh, all of this talk is purely set-wise. I never really got into the story of Bionicle.
  13. I'd like to mention that when I was thinking about "worst constraction" set, I was only judging by its built and function, not by the versatility or the quality of the parts. As far as the Inika builds go, I also dislike the Toa Inika for their weird-looking heads/masks and their very flat torso design. Later sets who still used the Inika build usually worked around the flatness of their bodies, and they also ditched the ugly heads for either bringing back the Metru heads with new neat masks or the Glatorian hads, who also got neat masks.
  14. I actually also wrote a review for Aquagon back then, and the response, while small, was mostly positive towards him. I second that his bare back is not that great, but that problem plagued almost all of the BA baddies due to the brain slugs, so I wouldn't punish Aquagon for that. Though to be fair, I mostly bought him for parts usage, as he comes with a handful of nice pieces, especially for that price. But I also like his poseability, where he clearly beats Frost Beast and Dragon Bolt IMHO. Scarox on the other hand was one of the sets I skipped, partially because his design didn't interest me that much, partially because I never cared much for golden parts.
  15. Gotta have to disagree on Aquagon, I really like him. Right off the bat, I would also say Bruizer takes the cake for his awkward action gimmick. I'm pretty sure there are also other sets I'm not particulary fond off, but they're escaping my mind right now.
  16. Thanks for the input about the Protectors. I think I'll pick up PoJ next, since I like his overall design, and he comes with some parts I really want to get as often as possible (the parts in question are the new armour pieces and this little TECHNIC thingy that is super neat that Lewa and PoI also have). After that, it's probably PoW, because I like blue sets.
  17. I bought the Protector of Ice today, and I really like him. Design and built are great (except for his stubby arms), and he has a whole bunch of neat parts. I'm unsure which other Protectors I already want to get as well though. Jungle, Earth and Water look good, Stone is so-so, only Fire doesn't interest me that much.
  18. The friction on the jetarangs of my Pohatu is totally fine, so I'm surprised to learn there are some issues with it here and there. My only gripe about him is that the boomerangs aren't that great for posing as opposed to melee weapons, I guess. But anyway, I intend to mash Pohatu with Onua, and I will most likely turn the boomerangs into some sort of jet engine wings, as which they'll work just fine, I hope.
  19. I'm a bit late here, but anyway, I wanted to give my thoughts on the Toa too, since I recently completed all six. When it comes to ranking the Toa, I guess my favourites are Gali and Kopaka (can't decide which one of 'em would be first though), with Tahu as a 3rd, Onua 4th, Leva 5th and Pohatu on the last place. Kopaka got a very nice design (I really like his bulky shoulders), great coloration and cool features. My only gripe about him would be that his spear looks kinda underwhelming in comparison to his blade shield. Gali has a unique build, a wonderful coloration where the bright blue and the gunmetal form a nice contrast, and it also helps that she has this wonderful axe weapon. The alternative to the axe is a bit so-so, however. Tahu has overall a nice design with the gold blades and the large lava blades (I generally like how the gold is patterned on him), my only gripes about him are the shoulders and the silver feet and hands, as they really stand out on him due to having rather warm colors otherwise. Onua would have probably worked better with one colour less, though I'm not sure which one should be dropped. I like his beefy design sans the arms, who look kinda thin unless he dons the claws instead of the hammer. Lewa suffers from the TECHNIC bits necessary for the flight mode, and I still think his mask isn't that awesome (even though it grew on me since I own him). His colors and overall design are pretty neato though. Finally, Pohatu ranks so low because his weapon is only awesome in theory, and the eye slits of his mask are annoyingly narrow. His colour scheme is solid though, and I really appreciate that his arms can rotate at the elbows - especially since this is something I use to incorporate into my MOCs, which constantly means I'm running low on the needed bone pieces, while I have a whole pile of the original upper arm bones lying around (not really though, being the neat freak I am).
  20. I bought one of the Pirakas three times because he was just 2€ each, and I also bought Gelu, Stronius and Ackar twice, though they were also on clearance (at least Stronius and Ackar), oh, and I bought a second Surge 2.0 sometime but I had completely forgotten about him until recently. In short, I do buy multiples, but usually only when they're on clearance or when they have super-useful parts. I'm a pure MOCist, so most sets I buy will be eventually taken apart.
  21. Me and two of my friends (who aren't familiar with Bionicle) got Onua in this quiz. I'm kinda doubtful if Onua's description really suits me, but hey, whatever.
  22. As I also like to mix-and-match old Bionicle stuff with Hero Factory and new Bionicle, that's a very welcome tip here. Unfortunately I skipped on Vorox, but I believe I got this piece in black in various sets back then... and haven't used all of them yet.
  23. Oh, I completely forgot the shoulder height of Tahu, as I already took him apart for a MOC (which is actually a mix of him and Kopaka), I only remembered he also had rather broad shoulders. It's even more odd now considering that Tahu has similiar shoulder armour, so apparently it's just the narrower shoulders again, just like with Kiina back then (at least build-wise).
  24. I just recently bought Gali, and I really like her design... even though I don't care much for her flippers, she's wielding an axe all the time while hanging out here. Also, this Gali actually manages to teach me another subtle trick to make characters look more feminine: Lowering her shoulders. It's very simple, yet it never occured to me that it would achieve such an effect. As for the mask, I'm completely fine with its look. It looks much sleeker than her previous masks, but isn't necessarily a "female" mask, like Kiina's or Breez' helmets are (even though I like those very much). It hits the sweet spot of being gender-neutral.
  25. Man, why is it always whenever I take a break from the web for a day that the cool stuff is shown? Darth Vader looks awesome. He's a sure buy for me, I really like how he looks here. Luke is also pretty cool. I don't mind his organic-looking head. On a first look, I'm actually more bothered by his arms, but that's simply because the basic arm design looks very robotic and there is just no way to give him more organic arms. I may pick him up as well, but I'm not to 100% sure yet. Only thing that bothers me with both is how skinny the ankles look from the side (judging by the very first pics). But other than that, the design and the size for these sets look pretty sweet. I'm really looking forward to the remaining characters here.
