Yes, bright blue (or azure) in the Series 2 Mixels! Even it's not the pieces I'd need for some MOCs (I would need flat studs mostly), they come with pieces that should work just fine as pretty good substitutes. I must say, series 1 looks pretty lame compared to series 2 and 3, but there are still a few Mixels I really want to get.

The position and future of Friends and minidolls in Lego?
ZORK64 replied to Dorayaki's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I know, I'm probably a bit off-topic with the following, but that was my initial thought seeing this: To be frank, I have the same thought regarding LEGO's constraction themes, especially Bionicle (but Hero Factory as well). They are by now a very important part of LEGO, and they even got Mini-Figures, but nothing of that could be seen yet in the Movie. So I would be sure glad if some Mini Dolls and robots at least show up in crowd scenes among the normal Mini Figs. I really like this idea. So far, the male Mini-Dolls look rather dull to me, and something like a Manga-inspired theme could solve this, especially something like a Mecha series, where the focus of the action lies on the robots, not their pilots, so the limited articulation of the dolls wouldn't be a big disadvantage. I'm myself a fan of the MegaBlocks figures for Halo, since they are very poseable despite their short size (to me, they are LEGO-compatible Action Figures), but I like the MiniFigs as well, simply because their simplistic yet versatile style has a charme of its own. -
Defective Parts Still Exist... In 2013/2014!
ZORK64 replied to BrickBuilder3213's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Toa Mahri Hahli suffered from "Lime Plastic Syndrome" big time, as all of her joints were lime green. The 2008 - 2010 sets suffered from this due to the sleeker design of the new ball cups. The 2011 luckily remedy this problem due to a new design and a different material. And speaking of older parts in newer sets... I experienced it the other way around: I bought a discounted Rotor (a 2010 set) at my LEGO store back then, and his regular ball cups were all the newer 2011 ones! -
That's great news. According to the German catalogue, the Mixels were supposed to be released in march... I hope that means they'll be released here soon too.

I'm sorry to necropost here, but I just recently stumbled over an article about this on GMX which gained my attention for this topic again. To make it short, the article refers to the letter of a 7 year old girl named Charlotte (unfortunately the article doesn't provide the link to said letter) who's disappointed with how "boring" LEGO Friends is when compared to the other LEGO series. The article itself mostly complains about gendered toylines and uses LEGO as an example for this, since series Star Wars and Indiana Jones are marketed more towards boys and then Friends came along to be marketed towards girls. Oh, to make it even worse, there's yet another article that's even more directed at gender standards. One thing that irks me about these articles is that they obviously fail to realize that they're talking about LEGO, a toy that is extremely versatile and easily allows to mix and match various bits and pieces. I do however, agree with the initial complaint from Charlotte (which is quoted in the second article): There should be more female characters in various themes. That is understandable. But how the folks at GMX turn this into two articles about gender-specific toy marketing is pretty weak.

I just realized that I haven't shared my thoughts about each one of these guys with you. Let me do this now: ~ Good guys ~ First of all, I can't help but think that Fluminox is a funny name. It sounds kinda adorkable. Anyway, Flummy himself is a decent set. I like the new wings, and I like the new axe piece. He got very good chances of ending in my collection. Cragger doesn't interest me at all. The axe looks cool, but the piece comes with Fluminox too, so I have no need to get him, especially since I already own his fantastic intial version. Laval on the other hand, however, does appeal to me. I like the tweaks to his design, and I think his colours work well togeter. I might get him, but I'm not 100% sure. Panthar on the other hand... I don't know. Maybe if I want to try building a Ravage (but even then, I'd prefer his head in white to build Shattered Glass Ravage), but otherwise, he doesn't appeal to me... yet. ~ Bad guys ~ Sir Fangar looks pretty badass with his weapon and cape and stuff. I like him, and I possibly buy him. Mungus and Vardy interest me mostly for all the trans-blue pieces. But Mungus also got this nice mammoth head, which looks cool.

And the end. "We fixed it... with a Mix-it!" *High fives* But yeah, the sunflower was my favourite part too.
-
I'm a huge fan of Brain Attack Stormer, but I also liked Breakout Breez, Toxic Reapa, Furno 3.0 and Scorpio.
-
I'm still torn about picking up a few sets from the current wave, and now we get the pics of the summer wave which look far more appealing to me. Aside from Crystal Beast and his wonderful amount of trans-blue, I kinda like Bulk's tank cannon thingy, the Alien Queen and Surge's weird walker.
-
While I'm not super-crazy about gold, the mold for the new armours is just glorious. And of course, all the trans-blue on the ice folks is awesome too! I'm definitely looking forward to this wave.

Okay, I'll bring this back on-topic by saying that I once again really appreciate -N13OS-'s LDD work! The custom torso frame looks really decent, and I'm tempted to try it out, especially since my latest Stormer MOC uses the V1 armour but looks really fat with it. My only nitpick with the custom frame would be the legs, but that's simply because I never really liked the leg armour of the V1 heroes in the first place. Other than that, these MOCs are top-notch.

What shade of blue will be the blue ones in series 2? Normal bright blue or (hopefully) something brighter, like azure?
-
Great MOC! I really like the little details on it, like the red lights on the mech's torso or the flamethrower.

What is your least favorite HF/Bionicle/Slizers set?
ZORK64 replied to Zenerius's topic in LEGO Action Figures
From the sets I own, my least favourite is arguably Toa Mahri Hahli, simply because she suffers Lime Plastic Syndrome. The Toa Metru come in close second (I own two of them, Vakama and Matau). While I really liked the design of their legs (same goes for the Rakshi), their arms and torsi were kind of a let-down to me. While I didn't bought any of them, I'm also not too fond of the Toa Hordika. They just looked kinda bleh to me. EDIT: On second thought, the Toa Metru take the cake. While Hahli had parts with bad quality, her built itself was pretty decent. -
I actually do the same thing.

These guys are just lovely. They are sure a reason why I still hope LEGO will make HF parts in more colours so I can rebuild these guys. The overall mix of the various elements also works just wonderful.

Thank you for this, Aanchir.

Oddly enough, I got free replacements for the few old-style broken joints I asked to replace back then. And I even explained that they broke after use.
-
My HF parts are all intact, as far as I know... unless some of my joints from the 2010 line actually broke, but hey, those are the old-style joints. I must confess though that I didn't got around to MOC much in the past months, so many of my newer sets are still in their original condition.
-
Ah, didn't knew there's already a thread for these little guys, otherwise I'd bothered myself with uploading the pages from the German catalogue, but now I'm too late for that. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to these guys. Mostly because of the parts since they are a great way of increasing my collection of small-scaled ball joints, but also because of their designs. They are very creative and unique. I really hope the mysterious wave 2 contains some azure.
-
Yes, I thought the same. But still a nice MOC.

I'm frankly surprised we'll get a second constraction Chima wave. The first one was partially prone to shelf-warming around here, I believe. But it's a surprise I appreciate! Just like Lockon Stratos, I'm super-happy we'll still get some large-scaled action dudes, even while Hero Factory is going mecha these days. I'm really curious how they'll twist Cragger's and Laval's designs to justify new sets for them, but I'm far more excited about the new characters!
-
Ho ho, that's a pretty awesome idea, didn't even thought of something like this at first. My first thought in this direction was a T-Rex, using the HF bones for his legs (and most other points of articulation) and the Mixel joints for his puny arms. Or an insect monster who's antennas and mandibles use the smaller joints.

I doubt that the Mixel joints will replace the HF building system as a new constraction line. The Mixel joints are clearly supposed to make small-scaled, poseable brick-built creatures easier/possible, and not to ultimately replaced the constraction scale. I wouldn't be totally surprised though if TLG would make also a TECHNIC piece with the new ball cup design, which would make it easier for the Mixel joints to blend into the aesthetics of TECHNIC and Hero Factory, opening the potential to incorporate Mixel joints for details or smaller limbs into HF sets. But well, only time will tell...

In the German LEGO catalogue, Mixels are priced 3,99 €, while the Legend Beasts cost 9,99 €, and as far as I can tell, the Mixels have at least not as many new joints as the beasts, but they are built out of plenty of pieces, and the Chima figs come with unique specific molds and the like. Hmmm...
