I think you're right. Her hull is quite shallow, as it is this assembly I got from a City set. -

I am still working on the rigging, sails, and other details of this gaff cutter, but would like to be sure of her class rating. Her deck is approximately 30 studs in length, and 12 studs at her widest. (full image) -

The Crahaish neh Triuri relief mission to Charlatan Bay is fully underway. -
Tristan was hesitant about the decision to accept the offer of medical assistance from the Crahaish neh Triuri. The Order of the Faith had long maintained that they were a heathen cult bent on The Order's destruction. They were allowed to come ashore, and set up their open air field hospital, staffed by Wandering Acolytes, on a sheltered stretch of beach north of the hidden battery. Tristan is glad to see that his concerns were unjustified. The Valiant Phoenix crew was able to make some small profit on some luxury items remaining in the hold from their last port of call, and sold to people who had the means. Captain MacMathain is turning over this modest amount to Tristan to help fund his campaign. The Crahaish neh Triuri will be covering the crew pay, with bonuses, for this relief mission. One of Tristan's men is sighting a buzzard that is slowly circling overhead. He has no real expectation that he will bring it down with his pistol, but maybe he can discourage the bird from trying to scavenge from the wounded here. Amelia Rosen is highly incensed about what happened to this little girl here. She was beaten simply because the costume jewelry she is wearing wasn't worth stealing. Sessi the Comforter escorts a soldier determined to make a report to his commander. He has been fitted with a walking cast, and given a crutch, but she is still concerned that his leg may be too weak to hold him. She does admire his devotion to duty, though. Here lies one of the many 'working ladies' that had been passed around by the pirate gangs, without pay, and then dumped in the streets when they can no longer continue. She and the little girl were placed over here because the leaves of these plants give off a calming aroma. This young man had staggered in after an encounter with some kind of beast. The scratches on his chest weren't very concerning, but the lacerations on his arm, and the possible cracked skull, were. He has been babbling about his encounter for the passed two hours. "Shut up, ya idjit!" growled the soldier that had five musket balls removed from his leg. This gentleman is mortified at the state of his undress while the ladies bandage his leg. They had given him the stick to put into his mouth while they tended the knife wound that he received in a fight over a hunk of salted beef. This soldier, recovering from a bayonet wound, is worrying that he will have to ask for help, because he really needs to pee. Here we have an older workman who is suffering from the effects of some tainted pork. Gwynniff the Steady thinks she has the right tincture, but to get him to take it she may have to ply him with some uisge first. This young man is fervently praying to Zeus in a panic for accepting help from a "heathen." Callie the Westerling has taken a few spines from a loti puff, and dropped them into some noji juice. The resultant vapor, which she is capturing in the synthetic bladder, is a powerful sedative. She will be using it on the praying young man. She had been able to clean and dress the wounds on his feet, but they had been so filled with grime that she knows she will have to treat him further. Knocking him out to do so seems the most logical course. This woman is the sickest of all the patients that are currently being treated here. When she was brought in she could barely breathe from all the ash she had inhaled thanks to the volcano's eruption. She now has a very high fever, and a painful cough that is currently producing a greenish-grey phlegm. Because of the worry of respiratory infection Helena the Whisper is wearing both gloves and mask while trying to bring her fever down. Lyssa the Brightener is happy to have found koola mushrooms growing locally. She is currently filtering some sheep's milk through one to produce a quality pain reliever. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When it becomes public, you can find additional detail images of this build, along with the .lxf file, in this Brickshelf folder. When opening the .lxf, don't worry about the piece that gets removed, it was just a flower for the young girl's hair. It is unimportant, and doesn't appear in any of the pics. I hope you have enjoyed my not-so-little scene. This build, at 50x82, is free to be licensed by Charlatan Bay.

To satisfy both his duties as a Colonial Council representative, and the in-shore Commodore for the Crahaish neh Triuri shipping concern, Hammish Grei realized that he needed to maintain an office in each city in which the Colonial Council has regular meetings. This is his office in Bardo. Hammish has a number of reports to fill out today, but . . . . . . this mother and son monster hunting team have come to question him about "this Triuri business." Well, the mother is doing the questioning. The son can't help but be captivated by a lovely posterior in blue. That posterior belongs to Dearji the Windsong, who is here to do a blessing. It doesn't look like Hammish will get much work done today. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I lucked into a Nexo Knights shield pack yesterday, and just had to build something. This build will be used to increase my ship levels.

The Independents delegation stood huddled together for a moment. There was some forceful whispering, and a few animated gestures. Then they sat firmly in their seats with a sense of distance between them. "Aye!" Commodore Grei said with more force than was probably necessary. "Aye," Lady Cantoni said with a softer, but even tone. "Aye," Viscount Doblin sighed with a resigned tone.- 207 replies

Viscount Doblin pulls out some parchment, reaches for his quill, and does some calculations based on some of the information provided. He hands it to Commodore Grei who nods his assent. The parchment is then passed to Lady Cantoni who reads it with a sigh. She pushes the parchment back at the men, thumps her head against their table, and groans, "Urrfphm." "Aye," Viscount Doblin voted. "Aye," Commodore Grei echoed. (OOC: That's two votes for the proposal, and one abstention.)- 207 replies

Lady Cantoni stood again, and replied, "Mr. Van Der Meede, I and my colleagues were elected on the promise that we would work to provide equality under the law. We mean that. If we do impose a 1% tax on all income, I suggest we amend taxation proposal to be only be on citizens of our nation, and not the trade companies. Taxing the trade companies would likely result in a measured reduction in the dividends to their shareholders, which would also be taxed. I argue that cumulative taxation betrays the spirit of our nation. Besides, MAESTRO has foreign shareholders for which this taxation would be inappropriate."- 207 replies

Lady Cantoni stood and remarked, "I would agree on shipping income taxing, as those numbers are more easily verified. But land income, and TC dividends, is less than one might think. TC dividends are also not consistent enough month to month for citizens to know what might be owed. The earlier proposed 2% tax (rounded upward) levied on all shipping income makes the numbers easier to track, and spreads the cost more fairly. We can do away with the ridiculous notion that taxes will prevent trade. It is too big a business for those who own ships to forego it. We are a rich enough nation that limited taxation should not be a hardship." Viscount Doblin stood, with a slight bow to Lady Cantoni, and added, "I do think that communities should help cover the costs of their continued protection, but the levying of such isn't an immediate concern. Many townships do not yet have the kinds of income to their coffers that some TC run communities do. We can revisit township coverage of the mutual defense after some account solvency measures get put in place." As both delegates sat Commodore Grei motioned for them to come close, and whispered something. After a moment the two nodded, then relaxed back into their seats.- 207 replies

Dearji the Windsong wanders into the Council chambers singing, "Ge b'e uiar a sniomh a' toitr mi, na roinnean mo beannachd . . ." Hammash slams his fist on the table, and growls "The Priestess is right. We have had plenty of bounty. It is time we share it. A percentage tax on all shipping to cover the costs of the national defense isn't unreasonable." Dearji dances over to Guilder, and says softly into his ear, "Do good." Then with a smile she pats him on the rump, and saunters out.- 207 replies

Lady Cantoni stretched herself upright and addressed her fellows, "If it is the national coffer that will be covering the fortresses maintenance, then a limited 2% tax across all trade to raise capital seems reasonable." Alexander nodded his assent. Hammish glanced sideways, and grumbled, "Oh, aye. The national coffer is better for distribution. I'll see to it the Treasury receives the Crahaish's donation." "On the matter of business investment," Valentia continued, "A dedicated push for specific projects isn't needed. Just a willingness to use the public coffer to fund pending ventures that can provide consistent returns." (OOC: All players that are willing would allow their upcoming builds to be licensed by Eslandola. I have some builds for story that I am working on that I have no need to license myself.)- 207 replies

Viscount Alexander Doblin stood, tapped his colleague on the shoulder to get him to cede the floor, then spoke his peace, "Taxes, and more port docking fees, may be needed in the near term, but the real issue is getting our cities' financials back into solvency. We need a progressive strategy of investment into industry. My learned fellows, many of you are major shareholders in trade companies. Your investments in such aren't only shipboard trade, but in-shore businesses as well. Such investments would provide needed income for the cities' coffers during lean times, when ships fail to reach their destinations, our ports are avoided for fear of fees, or worst of all, a glut in the market causing goods values to plummet." He looked about the hall to gauge the impact of his words, then resumed his speech, "In the near term, I propose a temporary 10% tax on our ships' out-of-country trade paid to the nation's coffers, that can then be distributed to the settlements that need funding. And we should have a firm decision on the distribution of the 1500 DBs the Crahaish has been generous enough to provide. I will second the Commodore's distribution plan." "Third," Lady Cantoni spoke up.- 207 replies
