  1. 4402 Sea Riders (Model A) [Creator, 2003] MPD file The above model includes some LSynth parts under the main engine cover, although the model will display fine without them in any other LDraw-compatible program. As the "official" LDraw colours do not quite match how the colours appear in real life, try using my custom LDConfig.ldr file, which is where LDraw/LDView looks for its colour definitions. The version of Rust that I have here is more akin with the real version. The file needs to be installed to LDraw's base directory. I would imagine that it would be better to start a fresh topic for general LDraw queries. May perhaps start one myself.
  2. I've started building some of the models from 4100 Maximum Wheels, and had to work out the "Model A", "Model B", etc., due to the number of models that can be built in the set, and they go from A-M. Looks like I have my work cut out! The part numbers and names in LDraw do not always match those listed on BrickLink. LDraw also has a name length limit, restricting how many letters can be used. LDraw part 3626bp33 seems to match BrickLink part 3626bpb025. I've not been able to find a match on BrickLink for LDraw part 3626bp30, although it may be that stubble was planned but not added, as LDraw parts can be very complex to create, particularly minifig faces. Running a search for the term "moustache" on BrickLink does not really bring up any accurate matches. The "Red-Brown" colour used for the printing looks very similar to the Dark Orange (used for young Obi-Wan Kenobi) or Rust colours available in LDraw (depending on which picture you're looking at), so they may be the best substitute. Remember, the colours in LDraw are not all 100% accurate representations of the real-life colours. @Superkalle/Calabar: Should this part of the thread perhaps be split and put into its own "LDraw issues / questions" thread?
  3. 21014 Villa Savoye [Architecture, 2012] MPD file 50951 and 50945 are alternate numbers for the same part, according to BrickLink. Also, Dark Blue is the LDraw name for Earth Blue. Therefore, your listed errors can actually be struck out. However, your model is using the old Dark Grey and Light Grey, where it should actually be Dark Bluish Grey and Light Bluish Grey, used since 2003.
  4. swc2012 Boba Fett's Mini Slave I [star Wars, 2012] MPD file (minifig not shown) Errors: - Missing 1 x Trans-Clear 92474 Windscreen 6 x 2 x 2 with Handle - Missing correct printing Although instructions for the above set have not yet been released, and a parts list from Brickset was used to ensure that it is accurate as possible. However, the instruction steps are not 100% accurate, as I based them on the animated build.UPDATE: The official instructions have now been made available via the above link at Brickset, so I have rebuilt the model to match the building steps and have included the Boba Fett minifig.
  5. 4500 Rebel Snowspeeder [star Wars, 2004] MPD file (not all submodels shown, but included in file) Errors: - Missing string Built previously by Widetent and Redostrike. However, their versions are either incomplete or use incorrect colours/prints, which have since been made available in LDraw.
  6. Another helicopter, this time from the 2012 Forest Police theme. 4439 Heavy-Lift Helicopter [City: Forest Police, 2012] MPD file (minifigs not shown) Errors: - Missing 2 x Yellow 97895 Minifig Life Jacket, Center Buckle [substituted] - Missing 1 x Tan 98279 Minifig Hat, Campaign [substituted] - Missing stickers / correct printing
  7. 7345 Transport Chopper [Creator, 2012] MPD file In a perfect world, SR 3D Builder would fully support the MPD (Multi-Part DAT) file format, and avoid the GROUP meta command all together. Although grouping is useful, it is not an official LDraw standard, and I find MPD to be a more elegant solution, using sub-models rather than groups to define parts you need to keep together. For example, in the above model I use sub-models for the retractable wheels and the top and rear rotors. This allows them to be easily moved/rotated within MLCad without upsetting any other part of the model, as well allowing me to specify the sub-model's rotation axis (very handy for easily moving retractable wheels/doors/wings on certain models).
  8. Hello all. It's time for another small... GUIDE UPDATE: I have updated the LGEO-Update.zip file in the Downloads section with 4 new parts. This addition focuses on tyres, as I've added four to the parts pack (which can be seen at the top of the image). Two of the tyres are not yet available in LDraw (not even on the Parts Tracker), but as they are essentially modifications of older parts it seemed obvious to quickly add them. Most of the FIXED, UPDATED and NEW LGEO parts as of 2012-09-02 The two to the very right (Tyre 24 x 14 with Shallow Staggered Treads [and Centre Band]) are new to the LGEO library, and it took me some time/head-scratching to get the two tread layers looking right. They're still not perfect, but I'm pretty happy with them:
  9. Thank you! GUIDE UPDATE: I have updated the LGEO-Update.zip file in the Downloads section with 4 fixed parts. The 4 FIXED LGEO parts added on 2012-08-30 There were a few parts that would not render correctly when using POV-Ray 3.6 (or higher) that brought up an error, which would only work if you specified #version 3.1; at the beginning of the POV-Ray file: It turns out that all that was missing from these files were a few semicolons [;] in the right places, which broke compatibility, and I have now fixed four of the parts that I've come across. If anyone comes across any errors that highlights text that looks a bit like that shown below (usually starting with #declare), then please let me know and I should be able to fix it. Example: #declare ROT = 0
  10. I'm glad someone other than me appreciates them! LGEO parts are created using geometrical shapes: usually spheres, boxes (cubes and cuboids) and tori (plural of torus, not a girl's name ). You then use other functions that POV-Ray understands, such as "difference" and "intersection" to "sculpt" the shapes. For instance, to make a tube, you would create a cylinder and then a second cylinder with a smaller radius. Using the "difference" function, you take the space of the smaller cylinder away from the larger cylinder, creating a tube. LGEO includes its own definitions for sizes and distances, which makes it much easier to define shapes quickly.
  11. GUIDE UPDATE: I have updated the LGEO-Update.zip file in the Downloads section with 12 new parts. The part I'm most pleased to have created (from scratch!) is 30367 Cylinder 2 x 2 with Dome Top. This part never translates well using LDView's automatic primitive substitution, so the LGEO version shouldn't stand out or look out of place when rendering. Most of the FIXED, UPDATED and NEW LGEO parts as of 2012-08-28
  12. In contrast to the smaller Cars sets, the Ultimate Build series look a bit more interesting. 8484 Ultimate Build Lightning McQueen [Cars, 2011] MPD file Errors: - Missing stickers / printing 8677 Ultimate Build Mater [Cars, 2011] MPD file Errors: - Missing stickers / printing 8678 Ultimate Build Francesco [Cars, 2011] MPD file Errors: - Missing stickers / printing
  13. 8200 Radiator Springs Lightning McQueen [Cars, 2011] MPD file Errors: - Missing printed parts 8201 Radiator Springs Classic Mater [Cars, 2011] MPD file Errors: - Missing printed parts I've started to play around with lighting and sky spheres in POV-Ray, to try and get more interesting reflections on the models, as they can often look quite flat, hence the blue hue to the floor. It also improves the look of metallic parts that would usually have strong reflections. It doesn't show up too well with these models, although I ran a test using a chrome version of Lightning McQueen which showed off the (exaggerated) effect quite well.
  14. 30025 Clown Fish [Creator, 2011] LDR file 30026 Panda [Creator, 2011] LDR file 30027 Reindeer [Creator, 2011] LDR file
  15. Again, it looks like an older version. Try installing all of the LGEO files from the last official release. And if you've installed any of my files you'll need to reinstall them afterwards from my updated parts pack.
  16. I just ran a test render of that part by itself, and it rendered without issue. The version of lg_3185.inc that I have installed has the following header: /*******************************************************************************/ /* */ /* LGEO Libray Include File (C) lgeo@digitalbricks.org (Lutz Uhlmann) */ /* */ /* 19970927 Lutz Uhlmann */ /* 20041126 Lars C. Hassing Corrected name of clear part */ /* */ /* This file is in no way related to the LEGO(tm) Group. */ /* It is provided for private non-commercial use only. */ /* */ /* lg_3185: Fence 1 x 4 x 2 */ /* */ /*******************************************************************************/ Is this the version you have installed?
  17. The last of this year's Monthly Mini Model Builds. 40041 Moose [Monthly Mini Model Build, December 2012] LDR file 40042 Cat [Monthly Mini Model Build, October 2012] LDR file 40046 Pilgrim [Monthly Mini Model Build, November 2012] LDR file 40047 Owl [Monthly Mini Model Build, September 2012] LDR file

  19. As far as I'm aware, the All-In-One Installer has an older version of the LGEO library by default. The registry file is just a text file anyway, so should be easy enough to modify. I've just updated it so that the path to the default icon is easier to change. Either 32-bit or 64-bit should be fine, as POV-Ray has a 64-bit version which installs to the same location that it would if it was on a 32-bit system. Therefore, if you install it to the default location then the registry file should work straight away.
  20. Firstly, I'd recommend updating to RC6. When I first installed it I found that it rendered automatically too, but it seems that it does not create proper registry entries to tell you what to do when opening a file. However, I have created a registry file that should fix it, as long as you fully uninstall the previous version. Register POV-Ray file type (POV-Ray 3.7 RC6 only) Just download and run the above file, and it should fix it. If it doesn't, just PM me the path of your POV-Ray installation and I'll PM you another version. It also appears you are not using the latest version of lg_3959, as Lutz Uhlmann updated it again in 2008. Could you try this version and put it into your "lg" directory? If that works, then I'd recommend downloading the most recent "official" LGEO files from Lutz's site and installing those. If you've installed any of my fixed or updated files, then you'd need to install those again as they would be over-written.
  21. I've just tried rendering it myself, and it went through without a hitch. Which version of POV-Ray are you using, and what is the error that you get? Is it possible for you to attach a screenshot? I tried it in POV-Ray 3.7 RC6, first without declaring a "#version" statement, and then again declaring versions 3.1, 3.6 and 3.7, and each time it was fine.
  22. GUIDE UPDATE: I have updated the LGEO-Update.zip file in the Downloads section with 15 new parts, 2 updated parts and 5 fixed parts. The FIXED, UPDATED and NEW LGEO parts as of 2012-08-11
  23. 8135 Bridge Chase has a particularly tricky bridge mechanism that might take a little while to get right using MLCad. I'd rather get it all fitting properly than post a sloppy model. It would probably be easier to do in SR 3D Builder, so might have to think about reinstalling it at some point... I'm also working on a few new LGEO parts, so am putting a bit of effort into that at the moment. Since I last updated my LGEO parts pack, I've created/fixed/updated a whopping 22 parts!
  24. 8134 Night Crusher [Tiny Turbos, 2007] MPD file Errors: - Missing stickers I plan on doing both 8135 Bridge Chase and 8147 Bullet Run, but they both present some MLCad challenges, so will continue with some standard (and easier) car-only sets for a little while. 8148 EZ-Roadster [Tiny Turbos, 2008] LDR file Errors: - Missing stickers 8149 Midnight Streak [Tiny Turbos, 2008] LDR file Errors: - Missing stickers 8150 ZX Turbo [Tiny Turbos, 2008] LDR file Errors: - Missing stickers 8151 Adrift Sport [Tiny Turbos, 2008] LDR file Errors: - Missing stickers
