comcon019 Darth Maul's Mini Sith Infiltrator [star Wars, 2012] MPD file (not all submodels shown, but included in file) A great addition! It certainly makes it easier to find sets. However, I have noticed that, although sets are in the right order, some theme headings seem to be showing below sets within that theme, e.g. the Technic sets start under the "Star Wars - Ultimate Collector Series" heading, and the "Technic" heading appears above only 2 sets. The Architecture sets are also another obvious example. [And 30056 Star Destroyer should appear under "Mini Building Set"... ]

The below sets all came in fold-out containers which were used as a baseplate, but this part is not currently available in LDraw. Therefore I have only built the cars from these sets. When the container is available, I will update each MPD file with the rest of the set. 8123 Ferrari F1 Racers [Tiny Turbos, 2009] MPD file Errors: - Missing stickers 8124 Ice Rally [Tiny Turbos, 2009] MPD file Errors: - Missing stickers 8125 Thunder Raceway [Tiny Turbos, 2009] MPD file Errors: - Missing stickers 8126 Desert Challenge [Tiny Turbos, 2009] MPD file Errors: - Missing stickers

7452 Le Mans [Tiny Turbos, 2007] LDR file 7453 Off Road [Tiny Turbos, 2007] LDR file Have you thought about splitting the index up into subthemes? It might make it easier for people to find what they're looking for. A good example would be the City theme. There are 15+ subthemes, and it'd be nice to have the models split up a bit more. And the Pirates list at the beginning of the thread could certainly do with splitting up when/if the 2009-10 sets are added. It's just a suggestion, though, as I know it would create extra work when it comes to maintaining the index.

I noticed that there are no models in the thread index from the Tiny Turbos subtheme, so thought I'd get the ball rolling. I have quite a few of the Tiny Turbos already built, so will try and post them in batches. 4947 Yellow Sports Car [Tiny Turbos, 2006] LDR file 4948 Red Racer [Tiny Turbos, 2006] LDR file 4949 Blue Buggy [Tiny Turbos, 2006] LDR file

[Software] LDD2PovRay
C3POwen replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Since using POV-Ray to render Lego models, I've found the setting that best suits the geometrical shapes of Lego is based on a setting shared by whitew0lf: global_settings { max_trace_level 10 radiosity { pretrace_start 0.08 pretrace_end 0.005 count 1600 nearest_count 20 error_bound 0.02 recursion_limit 1 low_error_factor 0.25 gray_threshold 0 minimum_reuse 0.015 brightness 1.0 adc_bailout 0.01/2 normal on media off } } It's a bit slower than the default "Radiosity_Final" setting, but gives much smoother results, especially on large images. -

They look like radiosity artifacts, which show up more on the dishes than anywhere else, although they can be seen (albeit subtly) elsewhere in the model. @hrontos: Not having installed LDD2POVRay myself, does it take advantage of POV-Ray's built-in radiosity macro ("Radiosity_Final", etc.) when rendering models? -

GUIDE UPDATE: I have updated the LGEO-Update.zip file in the Downloads section with a new part, and slightly updated the included "lg_colors.inc" and "LGEO.xml" files. The "lg_colors.inc" file now contains some POV-Ray version-specific coding so that I don't have to affect the "global_settings" section of a POV-Ray file (which can have an affect on radiosity and HDR lighting), but can also force the colours to display properly in any version of POV-Ray without having to worry about gamma issues. The "LGEO.xml" file includes the new parts, as well as correlations to some new colour definitions. The FIXED and NEW LGEO parts from 2012-07-14 EDIT: Added parts image.

5867 Super Speedster (Model C) [Creator, 2010] LDR file Glad you're enjoying all the effort everyone on this thread is putting in! Progress can be a little slower than LDD, as LDD auto-snaps pieces into place, but I much prefer the rendered results using LDraw to POV-Ray. Of course, @hrontos has released his LDD to POV-Ray converter, which produces good results too. EDIT: Spelling.

[Software] LDD2PovRay
C3POwen replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I know that in the colours that I've been using for my own LDraw to POV-Ray renderings, I've taken cues from a number of places: - Peeron - Isodomos - Lugnet (the transparent neon colours here are pretty good) A lot of the colours on these sites are missing, and they don't always use the same names, so it can be tricky to check that you're looking at the colour you want (see Lugnet's metallic iridescent and dull colours as an example). -
[Software] LDD2PovRay
C3POwen replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
As a fan of POV-Ray rendering myself, I have to say that these are absolutely fantastic! I stumbled across @hrontos's renders on Brickshelf just before this thread was started, and wondered what had produced them. They were obviously not produced using the LGEO library (the wheels on the render of 5761 Mini Digger gave it away as they still showed LDraw/LDD-style angles and no LEGO logo), yet they still had LEGO logos on the studs and bevelled corners. I'm glad to have been enlightened. Although I'll probably stick with the LDraw/LDView/POV-Ray solution (which is more to do with LDraw vs. LDD than anything), I must congratulate you on the excellent work that has gone into this. -
The rest of this year's MMMBs released so far, after I'd posted 40044 Lawnmower.
