Heroica RPG- Quest #67: Nova Tertia
Rumble Strike replied to Capt.JohnPaul's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Jeaux, I am still suffering the effects of the blindening, leave Spitosaur C to my Counterstrike. It should fell him." -
I have been very lucky with the players in my Quests. I really do appreciate that.
-
I had my main characters still assembled from the first quest to the third, so a span of about a year. Unless I need them for anything else, they will probably stay as who they are.
-
Did the Scum know who their players were? Reading the posts I guess they did, which would have helped them tremendously. Was a very fun game to watch. Helena on day four was just box office gold!

"Benji, I can still Counterstrike whilst Blinded, so unless speed is absolutely critical then I do not need a Remedy." -
Man, Tarn is just a Special Damage-rolling machine at the moment! And yes Flipz, the noble mask does look like it would suit a Shaman, maybe in the future Tarn will end up embracing the Valco heritage at last. Would make for some good RP.

Bors let out a panicked moan, "Hey guys, I'm really not feeling so good! Don't let me die here!" (does nothing from the back row) Tarn feels the poison burn his eyes yet again, and tries to clear them. (does nothing from the back row) -
I know it's a bit lame to nominate your own haracter, but I genuinely think Tarn would make a good Veteran when he is older.

I am loving the inadvertent circus act in the Steerpike Quest great QMing and RP all round!

Tarn saw Jeaux take an almighty hit from one of the lizards and redoubled his efforts to take Spitosaur E down, from the front row using Helbaerend. Bors does nothing. -

OOC: SP doesn't change depending on row. It should be SP: 7 -14/2 = 0 damage taken. The trade-off is that the counter strike is affected by row, which you did calculate. At last free of the blinding goo in his eyes, Tarn growls a Titaanian war cry and attacks Spitosaur E from the front row using Helbaerend. Bors does nothing but at some point soon will need a remedy to stop him from dying from the poison. -

Still blinded, Tarn takes a grand potion from the back row whilst Bors does nothing from the back row. -

OOC: Not sure if Tarn should counterstrike if Blinded, but we'll take it! Tarn's wretched luck didn't seem to have changed much since exiting the pagoda. Once again he was hit by poison, and he reeled away in blinded agony before composing himself and standing in the front row, ready to counterstrike one of the Spitosaurs if necessary. -
Thanks, not ever had the Gloves before, so I didn't know if it mattered which weapon I was holding.
-
With the Counterstrike Gloves, do they take into account the weapon held or is it simply based on level? ie with Helbaerend, should I be doing double Counterstrike damage. With Lion's Heart, would I be Stunning the enemy?

OOC: You switched up Tarn and Bors' targets, but I guess it doesn't make too much difference. "Bors! Stay still and we will win this battle before you succumb to your poison!" Tarn aimed at Spitosaur A from the front row using Helbaerend. -

Tarn sees Heckz somehow change appearance and shivers involuntarily before focusing on the upcoming battle once again. -

Tarn takes on Spitosaur E from the front row using Helbaerend for its double damage to Beasts. Bors attacks Spitosaur A from the back row. "Be careful Bors!" shouts Tarn. "That goes for everyone." -

Tarn stared hard at the Nord. "I am here to fulfill the terms of this Quest. I failed my last one; as well as a blemish on my record it meant an innocent man's probable death. Now what say you to hitting this lizard on the head?" -

Tarn listened to the back and forth between Jeaux and the lizard. "I really do not think we are going to be able to talk him into simply coming with us. We have to ask ourselves now - are we all happy for these creatures to go back into cages? If we are, then we will have no option but to fight." -

OOC: I don't think Tarn should have done that much damage. A Raider Shield roll is WP+level. This would then have been doubled due to the weapon being doubly effective against beasts. I think you then doubled it again. It doesn't matter in terms of the round as Flare or Heckz would have killed the frog anyway. Tarn went to check on Bors. "How are you feeling? Benji, do you think Bors could use some of your old Ranger items?" -

Tarn felt sluggish and could barely see as the poison coursed through his system. He knew it would be now or never to defeat the frogs, and dragged himself upright to face Frog F from the front row using Helbaerend. "One more go, lads!" he shouted, his mouth feeling thick and his voice hoarse. Bors remained unconcious. -
No but it is effective combined with Badly Poisoned, the way CJP has done this works well.

Deciding that the Stun effect from Lion's Heart wasn't worth the chance at doing double damage, Tarn switched weapons to Helbaerend and attacked Frog C from the front row whilst Bors lay on the ground, unconscious.
