You mean this was unclear: Sometimes people read what they want to read Looks like Tarn and Haldor will have to be having words! To the Arena! Also JimB, thanks for sorting the loot division and updating everyone's inventories. I appreciate the work you put in as party leader. I wish Tarn didn't have such a rigid belief structure so he could have asked for more stuff, but it really didn't sit right with him. Jim, your solution was very elegant.

We certainly took care of a lot of business in the pagoda. I think everyone appreciates the time and effort you put in to creating so many different characters, Sandy.

"I would be honoured to have both of you by my side. But we must remember that it was Lady Shanxian of the Ji Pei that asked for help initially, and as we failed her, I do not know if she will request Heroica's aid again."
-
"I know Tesni would go back for him as soon as she could. I, too, would like to redeem myself and go back, but with a change of Class and a lot more consumables."

"Seems like our big pile of loot has brought plenty of admirers. Is that all Heroica has been reduced to?" Tarn said, under his breath. He responded to the big Ogre, whom he had fought alongside in the final battle of Dastan. "Aye, we have been gone a while, but the pile you see before you represents our total progress, for we failed our Quest and may have left a valiant man to his death."

Love the Doomed status, Sandy!

Tarn took a long swig of his drink. It didn't seem right that they were sat here discussing how to split the spoils when Jun was still stuck in that pagoda. He looked across at Cinna, the pain and loss etched on her face, he was sure it reflected his own.

I very much agree with the points raised by my fellow Questmates and other interested observers. The main one is obviously we discussed it as a group (but individually we had all come to realize) that we were not going to be able to beat the Quest. The continuous battle meant that the greatest thing we needed in there were Phoenix Essences as heroes did not simply "get up" after a KO as in regular battles, and with the few we had remaining, it was a futile task. The difficulty of the ice battle was the tipping point, but really, even if we'd've beaten that one, I'm sure the next one would have been as devious. Other thoughts from my own perspective: Tarn was woefully underprepared for something like this. He didn't take a single consumable in with him. His Barbarian nature was then stripped away, and I genuinely felt at a disadvantage all Quest. I have mentioned before that the battles are the part of Heroica I enjoy least (as player, observer and QM), so I fully admit that I probably shouldn't have signed up for it, but I did so want to go on a Sandy Quest. The pictures and enemies were very good and as inventive as always, but for me, it was definitely taking too long. If it had said at the start it was a 5, 6 month Quest, I would probably have signed up for something a bit shorter after the length of the Dastan quest Tarn had been on previously. I hope that you will see much constructive criticism here, Sandy, and that it is not the last we see of the concept, or of Jun. A follow-up Quest utilising some of the knowledge gained here with what worked and what didn't would be an interesting prospect. The loss of Jun is great roleplay fodder and something that will no doubt weigh on the minds of us Quest#50ers for a long time.

"I understand your point, Hybros, and am grateful for its use in our Quest, but I shall be seeing the Copper Fox shortly, and training for a class in which I cannot carry a shield."
-
"My Questmates played a far greater part in our battles than I. It is no shame to be the weak link in a group of such, but they did defeat many more of our foes than I and so deserve more of the rewards." His eyes lit up at mention of Ella, and the letter would be more of a prize than anything on that table. "Is Atramor here, or is he out Questing?"
-
Tarn's eyes widened as Arthur told of Wren's fate. "So she is no more, and Ella can rest more easily now. I am glad. Glad too, that my friends are OK." To Hybros and the others, he gestured at the pile of loot. "I will stake no claims. I have failed Jun, and failed you all. To profit from such failure is not my way."

Heroica RPG - Quest #50: 108 Stars of Destiny
Rumble Strike replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Tarn was troubled as the heroes left. His failure gnawed at him, his ineffectiveness in the constant battle, the final humiliation of not facing his foes in direct combat, and the most important fact; that they may have inadvertently left a proud and valiant warrior to his death. -

"There was a lot of falling. Comrades and enemies both with slips on the ice. I was beaten unconscious because I slipped on the ice twice trying to join you guys downstairs. It was truly a nightmare scenario. If Jun is still trapped in there, I do not envy him." -
Agreed with Quarry on this one. 5 months is a long time to be questing when you haven't even got to the meat of the storyline. Unless you're in an Endgame Quest, obviously.

It has been given a cliffhanger ending! I think it'll be offered by Sandy as a new Quest to sign up for later on. Looks as though there was a lot of interest in it from observers, and now the concept has been shown people will have a better idea than we did as what to expect.

"Jun is a true warrior, he will be OK." -
Just finished that game, I loved the art style and some of the full-on cut scenes were really well done.

*SLIP* and Tarn goes down! Had two tries at getting down a flight of stairs and couldn't manage it! What a hero

I echo the awe of Bezerker Nagure. Glad to see Floodgate's Stone Hammer is being used too. Nice work Costy!

After watching Faceless fall on his backside, Tarn thinks that the ice is a pretty good leveller, but follows the others and then gets ready to repeat his attack against the Faceless when the others likewise attack. -
