  1. Thanks guys ;) I created the most of the smilies completely from scratch (some inspired by other smilies I have seen) and for those >:( |-/ |-D 8-| :() >-| I copied the face of the original smilie into the head pattern. And the singing smilie was made by Jipay!
  2. My weekend... lemme think.... If there isn't any THW services I have to do (once or twice the month) and if I haven't to work I mostly sleep till 10 or 12 o'clock and then.... I suffer..... *sick* At the evening I go out to prepare my next day's suffering ;) Seriously: Besides going out for having some beers and party I build with my Legos, visit my parents, have friends for visit and such stuff...
  3. Lol, hey Apo2! ;) Welcome aboard!
  4. ... This artwork isn't meant to show to the kids what happened there. This "juniorization" shall symbolize that the people that were living next to the KZs / the craftsmen that build those / ... weren't really aware of the evil that happened there or at least tried not to see it!
  5. Lol, HERE we are thinking less big ;) In this moment I was already upset because you had continued posting in this particular thread things that hadn't belonged there / things I thought that were meant as sarcastic as the previous comments even if I asked you to keep the thread clean. And for making fools: If those comments on Jon's moderation work were friendly I really don't want to see you get nasty... :| I have no idea how we made you feeling not respected, showing somebody that he is chatting too much or such things is not "showing no respect" in my opinion... And for thanking Jipay: I'm sorry that you misunderstood this, but this wasn't meant as any order to praise our big daddy, it was just a small "Thank you!" from me for him. Nothing more, nothing less. If you feel you don't need to thank him for all his work he does for this place, than just don't thank him. It's up to you. I for myself think he deserves our thanks even if you don't see him posting around here too much he is always very busy with any things related to the site and forum administration. And as I said, he is the guy who puts the money and work in this project that keeps it alive! As I see it you do not really want to think about my words, right? If you think this whole argument can be solved with either the staff managing this board as you want it or otherwise with your retirement than you really should think about the second option. I would appreciate you to try to help us to find a way that satisfies the most of us, I created this thread because we want to hear your (the members' including you, phes) opinions and we also want you to see things from our point of view, but you, phes, don't make me feel that you really are willing to put a bit effort in thinking about this. We don't want to loose you, we just want you to integrate a bit better here. If you aren't willing to help on this, it's a pity.
  6. I tried to solve this by merging similar topics, but the response was not too good. I divided them again because we were asked to do this and also the first part of the thread was just about Star Wars and the second about licenses in general...
  7. Let's start at the beginning: Since you have joined phes (don't take this personal, just as some kind of a date where I can start my story!) the posts per day have increased insanely. It wasn't just you and Sarg Kulo but also some other members and also some mods that kept the forum alive very much. I think most of you can't judge this but since I am at this board almost from it's beginning I can tell you that our community has changed very much since we got more posting members than just Jipay, Jon, DoubleT and me. At early that time there were a large amount of off posting, that was sure. But since we were four it hadn't mattered very much. Nowadays we have many, many members we have to satisfy (look at my first post here). So we four calmed down our posting more or less because this whole project Eurobricks became something serious! I for instance visited the forums the last month not very much, and most times I just lurked instead of posting or did some little moderating / administrating. Now let's jump into Jon's point of view (at least as much as I can do this, Jon feel free to edit / comment if I'm wrong!). As far as I know, Jon was one of the guys from our original staff (now also including Vader and Orlego who both were also "senior members" at this time) that took the moderation job the most serious (I didn't this a few weeks before since I was busy with tests at university). When you, phes and gang (:P), started to get involved in here so much, Jon had still a look at you. But as he noticed that you are exaggerating things a bit (sorry, but 160 post per day IS exaggerated!!! This still is a forum and not a chat room) there came the point where he wasn't able to resist locking this Hitch thread that was a) REALLY off topic and b) there were some things discussed that belong into a chat room, a messenger talk or whereever, but not into a forum that is about a toy! But as he closed that thread he immediatelly got comments that don't show even a little bit of respect! (I won't repeat since I am too lazy to search them and also this shall not be discussed here in detail) Suddenly there appeared here and there always comments about Jon that were just completely unnecessary! Jon always did a great job in terms of moderation, and just for locking this thread trying to make him looking like a fool or a megablok is really not fair! This was the point where I came into play (and where also some other people I talked to started thinking about the last happenings!). Maybe I haven't acted completely right either, but for me the second hitch thread and especially some of the responses to it (the last one of you, phes) were enough reason for me to lock this thread again! Once again there wasn't shown any respect for the people running this place, putting time and effort (and even much money, at least in Jipays case!!! Maybe a little Thank You!!! while I'm talking about it ;)) in it and doing so much for the community... So maybe you can imagine that reading some silly comments about our "new strictness" or a sarcastic "don't let the thread go off topic!" and such stuff doesn't make the situation better in my eyes. And for removing your birthday song: Sorry, but in that context it had this feeling that you try to make us and also luca look like fools! I said "please keep this thread clean now" and you go on with discussing about moderating! Afterwards I'm sorry for my harsh reaction, but in that situation I was too up set to keep myself from posting those comments! Maybe you can think about this and try to see everything from the staff's point of view too! This is a community and we "have to live together" and sometimes we all have to work for this and put a little bit of effort into it! So here is my suggestion: WE (the staff): - will try not to be too harsh and strict with you, - and will work on Eurobricks' structure (forums, chat room and so on) and therefor YOU (the members, especially those who want to participate very much): - will try to limit your posts to a reasonable amount (if possible less than 50 per day :| if you need to say more just put down several sentences into one post! Yeah I tried it, it IS possible! ;)) - will try not to post silly comments when we do some reasonable moderation, - and finally you will try to keep the Lego section clean and use the community section for chit-chat! So please tell me what you think about those suggestions, I'll comment on the posts above more later when I have more time!
  8. Welcome to our forums! :) Why do you think here are just a few AFOLs? (what age must one have to be called an AFOL? I'd estimate myself to be one and I'm "just" 21!)
  9. Yeah, I'd better buy the Clone Walker for 12 Euro and get a real minifig AND a complete walker!
  10. Wow! The battle droid body with legs just looked ridiculous (sorry :P), but for Grevious they are perfectly! :oo As a small idea: Maybe you could replace the two outer 1x2 plates with 1x2 tiles to give it a less "studdy" feeling!
  11. phes, please quit with commenting off topic problems at almost every of your posts! This is going nowhere, it doesn't make you happier and you just risk even more discussions about this! So look at the other thread I posted for telling you details about our future plans and comment there if you like to!
  12. Yes, I have seen some big castle creations used both greys and bleys and they looked really cool! Dunno where those were shown anymore though >-|
  13. For the dark greys you immediatelly can see the differences (red'ish grey vs. blu'ish grey!) To see the difference between the light greys is a bit more difficult since they are almost the same. But if you build with new light greys and there is a single old light grey part used this old part will somehow look old and dirty (even if its new!)
  14. I "like" or lets better say "tollerate" the Pirates 4+ line because those sets are great part sources! (Scimitars, animals, minfig flasks,.....)
  15. Since this is meant as art I think I will look at such a creation much more likely than looking at those hundreds of BS galleries showing war scenes just for fun! This KZ is an artistic statement and should make people think about those bad happenings from WW2! (go to the linked page and look at the other pictures displayed there! :() )
  16. Voted "other" in the meaning of Jack Stone! >:(
  17. Okay, let me give you some more local infos ;) Just for clarification: I'll talk about the shops I know here in Aachen! Intertoys: They often have nice sales on Lego sets, I can recommand to check those stores from time to time! (Some examples: Sopwith Camel - 20 Eur, HP Aragog set - 15 Eur as far as I remember, 20% off at all Lego sets at last christmas season, SW first Minis 1,99 each,...) Walmart: At the local Walmart they often have sales too, e.g. they had the whole Orient Expedition line 50% off! Globus: They always have Lego sets on sale, not as good as the other two shops mentioned above, but nonetheless sales ;) Teddy & Co: Our largest toy store in Aachen, all sets are standard S@H / TLC prices, BUT they have the rummage tub! What I can't recommand from my experiences: Kaufhof / Lust for Life:Both have all sets for the same price you get them at S@H. But maybe you can still find a 80 Euro Falcon there!
  18. I got mine as a mail-order present...
  19. For me it's one. In Germany we have tons of composed words like "K
  20. I have one of the three promo sets! (the red / orange ship) :P
  21. From Galidor! (Look at his other thread!)
  22. (Hm, after splitting this post needs another introduction... :$) As there were many comments and posts and whatever about the off topic problems around here, I decided to tell you some thoughts on this and show you what we have planned for the near future: If you are honestly and think about the amounts of posts some of you guys did within one day it was sometimes ridiculous much and the off topic posts of them lately became too high, even for this place. But since this became a trend the last month we decided to change things around here a bit. Those changes won't be made to make this forums more strict or on topic or whatever (believe me, the last thing we want is to loose your activity!). We want to try to give you (this means the whole community, including those members that want to chat and post as much as possible, the lurkers that just want to read what you write, the lurkers just coming here for getting infos, the members that are here for the Lego related discussions and less the off topic'ish chats and so on, etc. etc...) a better platform to satisfy your needs! - That's why we will have an "more strict eye" on the Lego related forums (which will be restructured the next time), so there won't be exaggerated off topic posts hopefully. - Then we'll have the community section where off topic discussions will be allowed as much as we were used to do it. - And then finally we will try (sorry, can't promise it yet :$ ) to set up a chat room where all the members and especially those of you trying to communicate about whatever can finally have all the talks they want to! But please remember, those are just PLANS, nothing is completely confirmed yet, we (the admins) have to discuss about all those aspects the next days and we will keep you up to date! I hope that cleared some things up, I'll slpit this thread now, so if there are any further questions or comments, don't hesitate to post them! (And please stay on topic at this important thread! :P ;))
  23. Okay, I deleted some messages from my email account today and found those mails: (Some might remember my first posting of one of those mails) Can anybody give me an axe or a gun? *devil*
  24. Lol, a bit blurry... Maybe it's fotoshopped? ;)
  25. They definitivly ARE uploaded to their forum's emoticon folder! They also included the txt file giving us credits, but nonetheless almost nobody will ever read this since normally nobody is browsing the folders of the server... Hm.... There IS a copyright note at the main page, which also includes the copyright notes for the forums (which are "just" a part of the main page). But maybe we really need another note at the forums itself... I'll think about this. But for this special case: They definitively used the smilie pack from the main page, otherwise there wouldn't be the .txt file uploaded on their server!
