  1. Hobbes, think of this aspect: TLC will have to lower their prices the more succesful MB becomes! Why should it be wiser to buy high quality toys for a high price? Mega Bloks' play value is almost the same than LEGO's, at least if you think of their "Just Build" line (similar to the Basic / Creator line). The only difference is that the bricks have another feel. For a 8 year old kid that want's a toy for the time where he isn't allowed to sit in front of his PC or the TV it won't really matter if the quality of his bricks is very good (not excellent, even TLC produces many low-quality parts) or just average (which means he can build with them without of fearing that his creation will fall apart immediatelly). Surely it is "wise" to spend much money for the toy you are collecting / you are a fan of / you are obsessed of. But not everybody is an AFOL / KFOL, so they dont need to act "wise"... For them a cheap set with lots of bricks is just perfect, what need do they have to spend more money on a set with less pieces if they dont care for the quality?
  2. He knows us... Believe me... *glasses*
  3. Hey all, I visited a local drug store today and suddenly I saw something scaring: they had a shelf of Mega Blok sets!!! :o I wasn't able to resist to buy one set, I planned to do this since I heard the first time that MB will be introduced in Germany (though this would happen later this year). On the shelf they had several sets from 2 Euro up to 15 Euro. (From the box / set sizes a similar TLC shelf had been from 7 Euro to 69 Euro) I bought a small bag for 2 Euro, containing this tiny lobster, 50+ pieces, all basic parts. It sure was a shock to hold those less quality bloks in my hands, but otherwise the quality isn't as bad as everybody sais. The plastic sure isn't as good as TLC's, neither the feeling, the look nor the lock of the bricks. BUT considering it is three times cheaper than LEGO, it sure is an alternative. I think I will get some sets (e.g. a jetplane for 9,99 Euro, size of a Ep.2 JSF or even bigger!), they are perfect if you plan to go on a trip and don't want to carry your precious LEGO bricks with you! Pictures coming soon!
  4. Okay, here are my thoughts: This just doesn't belong here. There is no discussion about it. We are a board that is completely open minded, we offer a place for everybody regardless of his age, origin, culture, language or whatever. Because of this we always should let this place look like a friendly one. We can have fun here, make jokes, show us funny things and such, and we also share our love for LEGO here. Those porn pictures are just nothing I would have ever expected to see here. They are surely funny for open minded adults, but we also get kids here. This whole thread makes the whole forum look somewhat dirty. It's no question of taste. Surely most of us can look at nude people or sex scenes or whatever without of getting a "soul damage ". But should we share those things only because we can? Why? To look cool? In my opinion, those LEGO porn pics aren't any creative work to show the love to LEGO. Somebody made them to offend people. LEGO was only the medium to do this, there is no real creativity behind this, it's just to annoy and offend. Imagine this situation: If there were a Barbie forum and there were shown pictures of, let's say, a raped Barbie doll. Do you think this would be right? I don't. Running a forum about a toy we HAVE to expect kids to sign on. And since we host them for the time they are here I think we have the responsibility about them! We, especially the Admins and Mods, have to protect them from things they just aren't supposed to see. And this protection isn't done with a "Hey, kids, don't click, you'll see crazy and strange things you aren't supposed to see, it's only for the grown ups, so don't click on this secret and mysterious link!" If some of you guys like to share those things, I would suggest to create a new forum only adults (that's a matter of two minutes) have access to, this way you could have your fun and still protect the kids, that are among us, from any bad influence. I know that some of you, even other staff members, don't think that way, but please think about MY words and YOUR responsibility for our younger members!
  5. *marks the day where Jipay tells Phes not to be too strict* :D
  6. Maybe you should open an Maj.com / Brickshelf account to store your pictures! And try to save them as .jpg (that is possible at MS Paint), this saves lot of space!
  7. Lol, THAT is the right attitude!!! *satis*
  8. I am not talking about Ian McDiarmid, but about his synchronized German voice...
  9. Yes, Marvin was really greatly done! Especially the scene at the end where he uses the weapon ist just funny! I dunno how he sounds in the original, but here we also had a good speaker for him, I think (though I'm not sure) that it was the same speaker that spoke Palpatine...
  10. :'( and 8-| and >:( and :() .......
  11. Hey all, the movie is out here since last thursday... I just returned from it, so here are a few thoughts on it! In general a good movie, but far away from the niveau I had expected... It sure is a really hard task and hardly possible to achieve the book's genius, and the movie just doesn't reach it. It's not really disappointing either, and I can not really tell you how somebody who hasn't read the book will think about the movie, but for me there was just nothing really surprising in it. But the movie also had it's nice moments: There were some cool and funny scenes (whale, Marvin, the construction site,...), and the actors (especially Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent :) ) did some great work. The space special effects are very nicely done, though the aliens are sometimes looking more like the B-Movie versions of a micture of Luc Besson's Mangalores and Mondo Shivan... :/ So, what are your thoughts about this movie?
  12. Nice! Have you already made pictures of it?
  13. Huh, what do you mean by this?
  14. Well, phes, now tell us what your problem is! (you know, the american TV series) Mine is... umm.... they always come out here VERY VERY late (well, translation takes time!). Besides this I have the much more important problem of not having television here at my flat! :/
  15. Hi and welcome aboard! And yes, I recognized your name from FBTB! ;)
  16. Ooops, read this already some time before (on 1000steine, where CCs official reference comes from), but forgot to post it here... :$
  17. Mike Crowley from the FBTB forums pointed out, that the only possible glue point are the hip / torso connection. If you look at the high-res picture above you'll see that the arms of the figs and the heads are in different positions. Also the blue bishops look like they are bend over a bit. So those elements can't be glued. That means there is only the hip left...
  18. Hi and welcome around, here! :)
  19. Congrats to the winners, especially to Bigfatslob who impressed us all with his cool half-bionicle beasts!!! :oD
  20. Remember that we have seen this scanned Lego mag page already some years ago!!! I think he has seen this and build his one from that concept... And actually Hein-Jan is the guy that made this mega-large Hoth diorama! (I'll post links to his work later)
  21. The king has a chrome antenna! (or does this part already exist?)
  22. Those larger Orient Expedition sets all come with parts of the board game. It's some kind of a collectible stuff, you get those puzzle style board parts with the three larger sets (Temple of Mount Everest, Scorpion Palace and the Dragon Fortress). The cards and the dices come with those sets also. The smaller sets (the three that come with one beast (Tygurah, Yeti and Jun-Chi), the Elephant Caravan and the Aero Nomad) come with additional cards. About the Emperor's Ship I'm not sure since I doesn't own it.
  23. In reality it really looks better than the CAD counterpart. The red printing at the slopes at the rear give it more personality!
  24. Yeah, you became kinda thin lately! Go eat some more food!!! :D
  25. He posts at FBTB and at LooneyBricks (which is the almost dead leftover from Repoort's FBTB Makeshift forum). His username is Warhawk, his real name Reto Geiger. One of the best builders of (UCS) space crafts out there!
