  1. On the contrary, I noticed mixed with Dawn soap gave my pieces a tighter grip. I've always used hot, aiding the soap in dissolving grime. Just never on baseplates
  2. Very nice switcher 'wondermonkey'. It is a nice change for the Maersk. Great job on that other loco, will you be posting that as well? I'd love to see it
  3. A buddy of mine gave me all his old Lego that was in a had been in a closet at his dads home. I'm not sure if he smoked in it but, it did have a very strong odor of pet and who knows what else. That smell came with the Lego, I thought they may never lose that smell. So what I tried was getting a large tub and filled it with the hottest water from tap and Dawn soap and Cherry Car wash soap. I let them sit overnight, agitated them every so often. They came out very well, very shiny most likely from the car soap (shines up ABS bumpers and trim) with a light scent of cherries. The cherry eventually fades but, they no longer smelled like that house and that was almost two years ago. I say go for it it's a good deal and definitely worth a try. P.S. Bleach is not recommended, your parts can get brittle. If you have yellowed parts from UV damage, soak in sealed tupperware with Hydrogen Peroxide 3% or greater and Oxiclean (catalyst) or generic brand equivalent. Let sit in sun (weird that you use what originally damages them to repair them) for a day or so Edit: I'm for having a guide to effectively cleaning and/or repairing Lego should be a sticky, as this is a common topic for new collectors or those who want to revive old parts
  4. Wonderful shop 'soundwave_sw'. Great work on the details. 'wokajablocka' is right, this would make a great winter set
  5. Fantastic collection of police cars 'Ralph_S'! Very detailed build, I love the Bimmer and Crown Vic
  6. Many thanks for the comments and birthday wishes 'lightningtiger', 'ER0L', 'bootz', 'meyerc13' 'HuskerDont', 'Dakar A', 'HighFlyer', and 'Lego Train 12 Volts' Lately my modern MOCs have had hints of actual vehicles, as far as frame and body, suspension tuning, and/or replacement parts Please do give these a go on a smaller scale! That would be very interesting. I completely agree about City not releasing any race sets and yes, the World Racers are a bit to extreme for my city. The Ferrari sets were nice but, I was in my "DA" at the time and don't want them bad enough to pay their current prices Not a bad idea to hit up the 'Sticker King'. As soon as I can get the necessary medium, I will start creating my own stickers for these and other MOCs. I'd would love to see your spin on these cars too
  7. A very nice display indeed. I bet her shop gets a lot of looks now. Great job 'supersympa'
  8. I looked for those wheels a little while back but, no one had them in bulk. Thats why I ended up with the white/gold wheels. I do like those very much and hope to get some (many) soon
  9. Greetings again everyone! Everyone who knows classic city should remember the race set evolution from 1987's 1497 Rally and Pit Crew to 1988's 6396 Victory Lap Raceway to 1996's 6337 Fast Track Finish. After '96 there hasn't been much, if anything, from modern City sets. So I decided to create my own set of race cars to go with these larger city cars. It started as just one car (the red/white one). I originally started to try and build a Volkswagen New Beetle but, it turned to new inspiration. Build a race car, and build it as race cars are built, with easy-to-replace panels (should the have fender benders). I ended up getting carried away and have a current total of 9 now. Way more than I originally planned or had pieces for. Coincidentally this falls on my 1300 post and birthday I built these cars to mimic real cars when it comes to repair or mechanical adjustments. The frame of the car is inspired by a F1 monocoque. Each one is built off of this platform below. The panels and internal parts are easily replaceable. As for the suspension, there are two settings: On-road Rally or Off Road Rally. Here is the off-road stance: Compared above, these cars are sitting in there GT Cup Car stance. Lowered to hug the road. Comments and suggestions welcomed, thank you for looking!
  10. Oops, meant to hit 'enter'...
  11. I saw this a while back but, since I am not opening anymore new Lego sets, I have't been able to try this. However, I just received my single 7937 Taxi Cab in the mail and decided to give it a go. It was more difficult than I expected, especially extracting each piece, individually, from the small inner bag and attaching the cheese slopes! I don't know how some of you built your larger vehicles... Anyway, by the end of IRT Deadliest Roads, I finished it... If I could only apply the stickers
  12. 7937 Taxi Cab for $106396 International Jet Port (finally) for $55 A lot of vehicles including, 7991 Recycle Truck, 7236 Police Car, 8665 Highway Enforcer, and 8669 Fire Spinner for $17. Just for the truck and police car. and a lot of4645 Harbor and 4664 Marina for $110 That'll be all for 2011
  13. It's getting bigger and better! You could definitely use another table. Keep up the good work 'deen'
  14. Excellent house 'CoolerTD'! The detailed work is fantastice, I love the stairwell. The exterior and yard are very nice as well. Great job on this MOC! Any plans for interior furnishing?
  15. Another awesome plane, 'Peppermint M'. Like 'Brickmamba' said, great color choice. I really like the look of the wings and fuselage. Keep up the great aircraft builds
  16. Very nice bus 'Cpt. G H'! Excellent job on this detailed build. I really like the work on the rear. You did wonderfully making it look straight out of the 50's. Keep up your great MOCs
  17. Welcome to EB 'paostmo'! Great job on the house, it's very elegant. The interior is very nice as well. Great color choices for the furniture. All in all, a fantastic house, keep up the great work
  18. Thank you, 'ER0L', 'Fede78', 'Brickmamba' for your comments. 'Fede78', very nice work on with those 5 wides
  19. I, too have a flexible work schedule. I work after hours and my college is only an hour bus ride away, during the day. I don't have children, yet, but, do see my family and friends many times a week. I'd like to spend more time building but, only spend a couple hours a week with them. Life right now is a little hectic but, hopefully once things settle down I can enjoy my few hobbies
  20. That was actually what I based my first Porsche off.
  21. Thanks for the comments and suggestions, 'Xyver' and 'Hei'. I updated with some new pics of models you suggested. I thought the color schemes are a great idea! Hope you like them Thank you, 'TDG'. By all means, build them if you want them! Thank you for your kind words 'lt' and 'LTF12V'!
  22. Great idea and build modernizing those classics 'Strikeman'! I really like the tow truck, kind of makes me want to give these a go, if you don't mind. Keep up the great work! I hope there are a few other classics you have to update
  23. Very nice aparment 'AT'! It looks very cozy, and the exterior color is a good choice. It looks great next to your other modulars. Keep up the great modulars
  24. Very interesting concept, 'ER0L'. A convertible minivan? I really like the cars ,especially the yellow and black. I see more of a four seater Veyron then a van, IMO. They look aggressive and seem more super than 'family friendly'. Keep up the great work
  25. V-LV-53D to V-LV-53F After months of accumulating parts and trying to design an acceptable 911, I found my solution. I have wanted 911's in a variety of colors but, there is only one color that this part comes in that can be used. Red (apparently white, but @ $3.50?). So that left me with a bit of a problem after building my first Porsche 911 (scroll down a little). I had a bit of trouble designing a proper face for the car. I put that build on hiatus because of a few other ideas that hit me. Then last night it hit me, a simple solution to get as close to a 911 in 4 wide. So here is my new collection of 4W Porsche 911s. Hope you like! Updated photos: 12/8/12 New to the collection are the Porsche 911 RS Turbos Updated Photos: 1/20/12 Gumball 3000 inspired 911's Comments and suggestions welcomed or tell me your favorite color choice! Thanks for having a look at the lot
