What will you remember from 2011 with Lego?
LEGO Guy Bri replied to eliminator's topic in General LEGO Discussion
2011 was definitely a big year for me. I doubled my set number and have never built so many MOCs. But the thing I will remember most is the fact I took down and boxed my entire city at my house to repurpose the closet for my entire collection storage. It stood since 1997. I decided I did not want to keep the rest in the attic as the temperature fluctuates heavily. As well as it is much easier to move them when I need to. 2012 will bring my focus to the new city sets from last year and now -
Fantastic movie 'iguana'! I really enjoyed watching it! The animation and dialogue were great. Did your crew have the town built for the movie or where different scenes constructed for a specific sequence? Anyway, I really enjoyed watching it, welcome to EB

I prefer to see the photos in the thread but, don't mind linking to other pages. I just assume the chosen photos in the post are the better ones

Neat little MOC 'AS'! What did you use to simulate the torch, PF light or other? Thanks for the info. I hadn't heard of Westimation and aren't familiar with light model railways but, it seems relatively easy

Excellent job 'cimddwc'! This came out great, the building's are wonderfully detailed! Do you have plans to add to this? Fantastic job on your block
-
Wow those are big 't-c.oficial'! That is quite a city! Maybe take some photos of whats going on inside the buildings? Great job and Happy New Year
-
Fantastic setup 'Blue Bard'! Very detailed and uncluttered. I'd write to city council about the posted speed limit though... Passer-by's won't have the time to take in the sight Keep up the great work, I look forward to it's progression

Ah, the corner of Table St. and Chair Very nice setup 'lewrex'. It looks like a great start of an up and coming city! Keep it growing

It's a bit strange they were/are using such large boxes. TLG prides themselves on being green. At least they are recyclable... as if we even toss them out
-
Thats pretty neat 'Gijserman'. Great design, it looks like it works flawlessly. Thanks for showing

Very nice bank 'lt'! A lot f progress, it coming together quite nicely. Are you planning to build an entire street similar to New Mannum's size? I did a bit a searching only to find apparel for branch directors. Nothing on tellers, probably semi casual? The many of directors had button-downs and/or sport coats with the emblem and name embroidered on the left. Maybe get some ideas or photos from a regular eh? Keep up the great work

Great review 'JopieK'! I too, was surprised there was no previous review. I love this set and was very lucky to get one for a mere $25 on eBay, though am not sure if I have the instructions. But new for $99 is pretty good. It's now one of my favorite classic sets

Fantastic build 'Angeli'! This is awesomely huge and detailed! I love the work done with the translucent plates and wedges throughout. I really like watching this progress, keep up the great work

Small Christmas hall this year 6534 Beach Bandit 7734 Cargo Plane (cargo lift and tow vehicle only) 7645 Harbor (flatbed truck only)
-
Unfortunately I didn't receive any Lego from family this Christmas but, I did get Forza 4 and a laptop cooling lap pad... if that makes sense. I did however buy the truck from 7645 Harbor and the utility vehicle and cargo lift from 7734 Cargo Plane

I have these from 1982 and 1984 that have their stickers. I bought them second hand, as they are older then me. They are still in pretty good overall condition. Stickers on older sets tend to leave their residue behind. The stickers basically break down and separate from the glue if not taken care of. Left in sun or high humidity, possibly extreme cold. Pretty much sets from the 90's and earlier will have these problems. Stickers on my newer sets haven't left any residue when I had to reset them. I can't vouch for all sets but, as far as city, I have not had any problems. I have read about issues with either Star Wars or Alien Conquerers though, I can't remember exactly which one. I think it was about the edges raising up but, I don't think there was residue left. Bottom line is, if you take proper care, you shouldn't have to worry about them falling off. Otherwise get some Crazy Glue and they'll never come off again. Hope this gives you some resting insight

I noticed slightly faster load times on my MAC

Merry Christmas from my family and I to you! And have a great New Year

Very nice house 'Redhead1982'. Fantastic architectural styling, it's very elegant. All around a great job

I wouldn't recommend letting the motor be pushed around. I can't say for sure but, if it has brushes in it, pushing it COULD cause friction on it, as would running it would. While this won't be detrimental to the motor, it would be be safe to build a replacement bogie and save the motor. I was always taught this rule of thumb: if there's wear, there's tear

Great review 'WhiteFang'! IThis is one of the better polybag's I've seen in a while. Really wish I could get my hands on a couple; like you said, hard to get ahold of. I really like the guys torso and the new life vests. They could have a couple cut outs so the heads could fit flush but, oh well. Anyway, keep these reviews coming

How should I build this water slide?
LEGO Guy Bri replied to cruiser_elston's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It could possibly be the right size for a raft slide with these rafts. It's be a nice carnival or amusement park ride IMO -
Question for Trainspotters re. the Santa Fe Super Chief
LEGO Guy Bri replied to kyphur's topic in LEGO Train Tech
According to Brickset, it's an EMD F7, most likely an early one (1949-1950). They apparently did pull observation cars until they were converted to blunt ended cars in and returned to service, 1956. They were permanently pulled from service in 1958 along with the trains being refurbished. Hope this gives correct insight into the Super Chief, as I find this trains history quite interesting BTW, how is your layout coming? Haven't seen any new news in a while -
Very clever tool 'AS'! It looks very good, keep up the great work

Very nice work 'Jameson42'. Excellent detail for a small house. I like how you created the stacking logs at the corners. Great job
