  1. Your idea is a great one. In the layout I've designed on paper, I proposed an underground rail system as well, for space saving. Though it would be either a 9V, or RC. Personally, if I had the Airport shuttle, I would keep it above ground, above the streets because of it's design, relative cheapness in support costs compared to raising traditional track. Not to mention most, if not every monorail I've ever ridden (a good handful) have been above ground, so I've grown to like them that way. I am interested to see an underground monorail. I don't own a monorail (wish I did) but, the way it works is simple. The motor has a little gear that lines up with the center groove on the track moving the train forward/reverse as well as 4 small plastic whees on each corner for it to roll on. The other parts of the train have bogies, one at each end, with 2 sets of the same plastic wheels. One of the long sections of train has to be dedicated to mounting the 4x8 Battery Box. As for cost you're looking at $30-40 USD for the train base, bogies, and motor, alone. That doesn't include the 9V battery box or motor cover (red only, optional). I can't say for sure, but if you just pieced together you'll probably end up, at or more than saving up for the set. A quick look at the track prices, it's looking $10-18 dollars per section. At that rate, it would roughly equal +-$200, just for the same amount of straight and long curve in set 6399 alone. That stuff seems to be the highest in demand. So like you said "neither option will be cheap". I'm sure you've already seen the prices, I am giving those interested in building a monorail a quick idea of costs. OBTW, here is the review you are looking for!
  2. Very nice line up scottwb2010. Very detailed and so close to the real ones! Keep up the great work
  3. Glad you liked, solta, LT12V, and Wedge09 All because the pieces looked so similar. Who reads *fine print anyway
  4. Excellent work Candia, I love the interior with an elegant exterior. Very well done
  5. I met my friends new girlfriend
  6. Thank you zephyr1934. I reckon the only abuse to the stickers is gravity. Just have to find one locally, unfortunately most are R/C shops
  7. Very realistic excavator Htrag! Do the tracks turn alright on it's drive "gears"?
  8. Cool little truck de-marco! I love the classic styling
  9. Thank you [The] Dutch Guy, streifen, Kai NRG, and soccerkid6. I love that Forest Gump! Based on it's size, I can see the similarities Yes, the hull is entirely brick built with these and this Trying to get the netting just right is a bit of a task. I'm not totally satisfied and may still try and alter it. Unfortunately it's still "for sale" in dry dock. No crew or water to fish yet Thanks again for commenting everyone
  10. Very cool, original, building dongo! This is really something unique to display, I like it a lot
  11. Very nice micro Karin! Too bad they may not still exist. I look forward to seeing some new corners
  12. I just saw this on BS, from JopieK. I'm assuming it's EB's JK, and that this hasn't been previously mentioned, but are we expecting another cargo train next year? Those cars and that fuel burn off chimney look interesting. Would I be crazy to think they look like a possible set, or are the Octan stickers just messing with me? Also, after reading back through regarding lack of official LEGO rolling stock sets and just making MOCs, could anyone point me to a website for a scale model train I could order stickers for, preferably U.S? I'm not getting anywhere good with my searches. I'd like to redo some of my MOCs and add a little extra to them
  13. Thanks for commenting andythenorth, lightningtiger, and harton! The Andrea Gail's hull was my source of inspiration for hull design. Since seeing The Perfect Storm, she is the only ship I knew to look up
  14. Ah, I missed that bit, to eager to see the pics. That's really cool they commissioned you to build it, congrats on that! I hope they compensate you well for your skill, as well as, the original cost Edit: BTW, How would you get that to them and how heavy is it?
  15. Hello everyone, I have recently finished my most recent MOC. It started as a BL of bow parts for a Tanker or other large vessel. However, when the part arrived, I realized they were two different sizes. Word of warning: Do NOT compile BL orders while intoxicated... Anyway, I decided to continue and use them for another type of ship I don't have. After some thought, it hit me, I have way more fish than fishermen and surely they can't supply a whole city! So why not a trawler? It is built to the scale and level of detail I am accustom to ( a 5yr old ), so it fits right in with my other MOCs and sets. It was a fun easy build. Without anymore blah blah, here is a brief day by day of the build. Enjoy! The Hull: TheHold and Lower Deck: I wanted easy access to the hold, so I built accordingly. The Cabin: With all the bells and whistles to catch them fishies and avoid bad weather. ( I see I need to push that sticker's corner in) The Roof: With all the necessary equipment, RADAR, lights, A/C, etc. Mast and Sorting Table: Folded for travel. Under operation, loose tray attaches and extends over port side for easier unloading. Bridge tray will lay flat on railing, and unplanned feature. Simple, but works! Note the brackets between the forward and rear lights. A hoist will remove the cabin, at these 4 points when docked, to unload the catch The Finished Boat: I haven't decided if I want to add an engine in the room behind the fish hold or make it a supply closet, since the waterline hase to be the bottom of the ship. Oh well, I hope you enjoyed my new boat and thank you for reading! For the complete build visit Cityslicker on BS, or just click HERE. Comments or suggestions welcomed
