Most Attractive Female Minifigure
N_Cat replied to Takanuinuva's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Um, no offense but that's kind of a disturbing question for most people. LEGO is a toy, not a sexual object. Second of all, I don't see what that has to do with figure customization. -
Hmm...that's an intriguing possibility, though hasn't it been many years since LEGO put stickers over multiple pieces? Yay, they put one of the people who knows how to fly a plane in the pilot seat. Nice! Hey, cool, I'm the same way, I almost never apply stickers either, though I did make an exception for Ant-Man Final Battle- the Lego logo stickers were too cute to leave off. Given the parts they chose for Giant-Man, I think we're both going to be disappointed. The part I think has the best chance to be printed is the goggles piece, though that's only because I can't tell exactly how it's built. The 2x4 & 2x2 tiles and 2x2 slope pieces are probably stickers. If the face is printed, I think the rest of the design can be done reasonably well using brick building techniques: replace the upper 2x4 with red, use a silver jumper and a trans-blue 1x1 round plate for the belt, etc. If the face is a sticker, then that's a disappointment, and I don't know what can be done.

Hey, does anyone recognize the piece that forms the large printed surface of Giant-Man's face? it looks to be a 4x4 curved piece, but the only two heights I know of for that shape are either 1 brick high (in which case I don't think they would have us apply a sticker across multiple pieces) or 4 high (which doesn't look like it would fit inside his head).

Ah thanks, I see there were some mis-labelled things. I'm surprised to see just how close Falcon is to my purist figure- the official torso is almost identical to Tremor's torso: both are light bluish gray torsos with silver pecs, an interrupted red stripe, and then black abs. It's literally almost the same, but there is a weird crescent shape on the official figure. Honestly, I think they could have used the Tremor torso with how close those two are. Other minifigure comments: I think Agent 13 probably should have used the blonde version of that piece, since both versions exist already. Black Panther and Crossbones could have used helmets, but they'll probably be fine. Winter Soldier and Agent 13 have the old [uzi?] type guns from Batman 1. Iron Man looks almost exactly the same as the Mark 45, but I guess that's okay. The builds in both the small sets are pretty ugly (though it is good to see another fire extinguisher!), and the Quinjet is underwhelming, especially compared to the last two. However, the control tower looks nice, and Giant-Man is incredible. I can't believe how good he looks; the helmet incorporates brickbuilt details I didn't expect, but the figure still has the iconic minifigure profile. I hope other people make MOCs based on his style of bigfig. Edit: Ultron in the Mighty Micros is Comic-book Ultron, and Cap has a new torso print.

Wait, so were the prices wrong? None of those sets look small enough for a $20 release. Also, holy moly, Giant Man looks AMAZING!!!

That's a nice representation of RC. I think it might be a tiny bit bigger than the average Dimensions pack, but really close to that scale. Nice job!

The entirety of the film is on LEGO's YouTube Channel now, if you guys want to watch it there. It was, unfortunately, less clever than I was hoping. Obviously it's geared at children, but so was The Lego Movie, and it managed to be entertaining for people of all ages. Even the TT Lego games, which also rely heavily on slapstick, occasionally manage to work in some slightly more biting satire or outside references. This was just tiresome. I liked a couple details, though. The Strucker line mentioned above was good, as were a few of the meta references. Falcon joining the Avengers before Ant-Man was funny, as that's what's happened in the MCU despite Ant-Man being a founding Avenger. Also, this was inconsequential, but was anyone else surprised that none of the legs had holes on the back or bottoms of the feet?
-
I doubt it; the security on the Mighty Micros has been pretty lax, so us getting pictures of figures months early isn't that surprising. The Civil War sets have had much tighter security by comparison— we don't even know the full figure lineup for certain. Though I hope very much that I'm wrong, of course. I would love to see Falcon and the rest as much as any of you!

Yup, I'm sure the alternate Spidey face will come in handy to various Stop Motion animators.

It was kinda frustrating, but ultimately not that bad. They were really nice through the whole thing. -

Yeah, they cancelled my order at first, too, but I called them. Their order confirmation department eventually got it shipped. -

Everyone: The Bricks and Pieces buying parts system is currently gone. Do not panic; I talked to Lego customer service, and they said that it's a temporary thing. During the holidays, they only offer replacement services, not purchase services, in order to deal with the increase in complaints. It will return shortly after the start of the new year. -
Looks like Thor from Hulk Lab Smash.

Huh, Chima+LOTR+Star Wars= Angel. I can honestly say that had you told me that, I would not have expected something that cohesive. Nice job!

Hoping against hope is an idiomatic expression that means to hope very hard, even when the thing in question is unlikely. It applies here because there's almost no chance we're getting an X-Men set at this point (we probably would have heard rumors of it), but it would be cool.

REVIEW: 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15
N_Cat replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Is the Queen's dress the same height as normal minifigure legs? Or is it taller, like the old slanted dress piece? In my opinion, it looks too wide for non-regal figures, but the pegs are a huge improvement over studs, so I guess it'll be nice to have in the Lego parts library. -

I ordered this before I posted, cause this is huge, and I didn't want any chance of missing it: Nick Fury and Maria Hill's bodies from the Helicarrier are available (and pretty darn cheap, too)!!! On lesser notes: All of Hawkeye, apart from his hair, is available. Black Widow's hair is available. Edit: Supergirl's head, legs; Superman's Head; Joker's hair (from the Tumbler); Harley Quinn's head, pants; Robin's torso; Beast Boy's pants, hair; Batman's head, dual molded pants; Starfire's hair; Banana Driver torso, head; Wonder Woman hair; Deathstroke legs, New generic Star Wars face; Tie Pilot helmet (from Tie Prototype), front and top dishes from Tie Prototype; Darth Vader's head; Emperor's head; Luke's torso; Captain Phasma's torso. -
The White Tiger figure in the Lego Avengers trailer has a Darth Maul-esque crown piece that leaves the center hole available for the rod of her hairpiece while still giving her raised cat-like ears. Perhaps Lego will be using that piece, as some her have speculated, for the upcoming Black Panther figure (and potentially for a physical White Tiger), or maybe it's just a fantasy of the game designers. Who knows?!

No, it definitely is not. Buuuttt... they are borrowing even more from Gemini than I thought they were: the gray sections have the same tessellating hexagon pattern that the Gemini does, and some of the gold highlights are in the right locations. The biggest discrepancy at this point is the Chest RT*: Gemini's is hexagonal, verging on triangular, while this is a simple circle. As it is, this figure is pretty; if it had more gray on the torso and the Chest RT were either triangular or hexagonal, I would be salivating. *I don't think we've ever definitively gotten a name for the glowing external panel on the MCU armors. I know the internal power source is the Arc Reactor, but in the comics, the RT node (comics version of the Arc) and the unibeam (external device) have separate names and functions. In Iron Man, he briefly refers to "the chest RT," so that's what I called it here, but I don't know if that's the weapon or the panel, or if the whole panel is only the weapon, as it has other functions in the comic.

Sentry was an interesting artistic experiment, with his forgotten faux Silver-Age origin and insanity, but honestly, I'm glad he's no longer a big part of the comics. He was completely unsympathetic and made every Avengers story about him. I hope they don't use him in the future. Then again, apart from the (surprisingly thoughtful) 1980s miniseries, I've never much liked Hyperion or the Squadron either. I'd have preferred a mainstay like... Wonder Man, maybe? He fits the same sometimes hero, sometimes antagonist role as Sentry and Hyperion. Yup, they would definitely highlight the Gauntlet if it were in the set. I absolutely agree with you. Sure, in theory we could use the parts to build our own buildings, but after buying sets for the figures, my collection is wheels, fins, rotors, hulls and windscreens, and that makes it kind of hard to build structures.
-
He didn't include Falcon either. Vision over Falcon and Iron Man? Not exactly credible. His supposed midrange set with Hawkeye, Black Widow, Crossbones and a truck sounds terrible.
-
No problem, thanks for doing it! I love your collection picture. Xavier is one of the standouts to me- wheelchairs are hard, and it looks like you managed it purist. Though really, all the figures are excellent. On top of that, my very favorite of your creations, isn't even one of the ones pictured there: it's the AoU Captain America figure. I think your version, with the helmet piece and shoulder detailing, is exactly what a perfect Captain America figure should look like. I've referenced him a few times when I wanted to show how Lego could improve. You're overall one of my favorite customizers on the web, and I check for updates regularly. Keep it up!

Yes, sorry, that is who I meant- "goon" is often a synonym for "henchman" and I forgot which word was used for the figure. I just wanted to let you know that the part was at least on a common figure that I was pretty sure you owned. On an unrelated note, I don't have a Flickr account, so I'll let you know here that I think your Wasp MCU figure is amazing. I would be happy if one of my figures turned out half that good. Seriously, great job, she's instantly recognizable. Is the torso printed?
-
A valid point. But my question is- and I'm honestly not sure about this- did they have to make the Avenjet? Could they have chosen a better looking vehicle, or was it demanded that they make it? They haven't been very faithful to the Avengers Assemble cartoon before this wave, and all the previous sets in the sub-theme looked more like straight comic adaptations. Do Disney and Marvel require specific toys for this line, or do the designers have some freedom?
