Set Advice? Joust, Raid, somethinge else or wait?
Isundir replied to Isundir's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I can get the Joust for 117 euros, apparently that's cheaper then release price (119.99 euros) however I do have to pay for shipping. -
Greetings, as you may or may not know I've recently come back from my Dark Ages and started a new collection, Fantasy is my favorite theme and collecting right now is pretty difficult since ironically because of my Dark Ages I missed out on all the Castle as well as Middle Earth series that have come out the past 10ish years, now I have gotten some money I could spend and I can afford up to Kingdoms Joust set, I'm also considering getting the Mill Village Raid instead although the price compared to parts is pretty high. As far as Middle Earth sets go I have gotten a few of those the only ones I'm still interested in picking up are Dol Guldur or maybe Lonely Mountain although I really don't want to pay so much just because of Smaug which I don't really care for. I'm really looking for sets that are good for Fantasy MOC'ing, are there any sets right now worth picking up before they increase in prices further for Fantasy MOC purposes or should I really just save up and bide my time hoping that Castle 2016 will be worth it instead? I currently own none of the Castle themed sets, and from Middle Earth what I'm still considering are the Dol Gulder and Lonely Mountain as I mentioned.

Thanks if legit, which I'll assume it is, this is great :) Too excited for getting my first Castle/Fantasy themed sets since the Dark Ages (instead of just random bricklink orders of old overpriced things I missed out on) wooh

Can I get a recap of what exactly is known about Castle 2016?

LDD or LDraw for a newbie
Isundir replied to Isundir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Alright thanks guys I'll start with LDD. -
I've just returned from my Dark Ages, with only a couple of minor MOC's under my belt and barely any parts to work with I need some tool to build things without being restricted by my small budget for actual bricks, so my question is for a complete newbie which program would be the easiest to use? I'm looking mainly to design buildings before I buy the parts to build them IRL.

[MOC] 1/65 Scale Tower of Orthanc with full interior
Isundir replied to Ryuuroden's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Not going to lie, I always thought the Tower of Orthanc was one ugly looking building and I still do but I absolutely love your vegetation around the tower and the interiors are fantastic 75000 bricks, I can't even imagine that many -
I totally agree here, I dislike when every minifig in an army is the same, at the very least there should be a diverse amount of different classes/types of soldier in any army even if the uniform/symbolism remains the same. (oh btw Maria the Virgin Witch has a great example of what realistic armies (from the Anglo-French war) look like in the very first episode, ironically for an anime show about witches/magic.) Also I really need LEGO to make more Mill Village Raid/Medieval Market Village type sets, those came out in my Dark Ages and now I missed out on them, unable (and unwilling) to shell out for the risen price.

I do quite like that tree

To be honest this is the first time I've even heard of DARPA, I only knew/saw the Boston Dynamics stuff.

For the few weeks that I've been collecting LEGO's now whenever I made an order on BL I always checked for some Power Miner Minifigs, which resulted in this small army of Sci-Fi Troops that I plan to expand whenever I find more Power Miners and I made some Robots/Drones to support them. The Hound MK-I is based of the real life Boston Dynamics Robots which are made as sort of all terrain pack mules, the Slave MK-I was inspired by the Scouts from Chappie which I absolutely loved and the Sparrow MK-I was an accidental build that turned out alright as an aerial robot/drone of sorts. The Slave MK-I's, nearly the same size as a minifig only slightly taller. The Hound MK-I, about the same size as a very large dog would be in minifig scale. The Sparrow MK-I made by accident.

Hmm yeah those Chima's are about as close as you can get to LEGO Khajiit, I was actually reminded of Stalhrim armor when I saw some of the different Ice Clan, I believe they are called, minifigs.

May I inquire about the technique used for those stone walls because I can't figure it out

While I can't even dream of building anything as stunning as this from my limited personal experience with huge friggin mechs the joints always fail me, including those so as far as I know it wouldn't be possible (or my joints are just in shit condition).

A new Castle Series would be ideal, especially in 2016, I just returned to LEGO and while I bought some old sets a lot of it has just gone up in price too darn much, so I have little to work with and can't really afford a lot right now. 2016 sets would give me something to save up for and get into before the prices go up

Lovely, just not sure what the chain represents on the palm tree?

Smexy build.

Very inspiring tent builds.

Agreed, somehow that Star Wars face fits really well for a Dwarf.

Great! It feels more complete now

Well sure it's not as big, but it looks great

I really like how it feels really simplistic (the room/setting not the build) yet really detailed at the same time. Edit* Eh not sure if I put my thoughts down correctly, but it's all meant to be positive as I really like it :)
