  1. Forgive me for straying off-topic here, but can we have a moment to apreciate this wacky Nexo-Castle-Batman?
  2. Great to hear that, welcome! I agree with The Maestro and Henjin, there's no reason to wait, really. The period between the main challenges (books) is great for introducing your sigfig and working on character development. Challenges bring a major activity boost of the Guilds, but then it's harder to get noticed as a new builder I think, because of all the events and builds in a short period of time. I can assure you: Nocturnus is awesome!
  3. Thanks, both of you, for sharing your advice and experiences! I don't think that I'm going to display solo or in a non-LEGO themed setting anytime soon, though. I'd like to have company from fellow builders.
  4. Really hope these rumors about the polybag in fivefold turns out to be true. Finally enough to get me to buy the Attack on Takodana set.
  5. Thanks, SK! The bit you are talking about are Onicius' thoughts (he's watching the game in the picture above that phrase), but for extra clarity, I'll but it in quotation marks.
  6. Hello all, Recently, my display cabinet became filled with MOCs, for the first time. Then, I realized something: I now have plenty of stuff to display at a convention! So, I tried to find out how to get into displaying MOCs at LEGO events, but I didn't find the info I was looking for. I know events come in all shapes and sizes. First of all, I think Dutch and Belgian events would be the most realistic to look at. Do you have to be a member of a LUG or other type of club, like "De Bouwsteen", for example? Do events select certain MOCs you can display? How about the costs? If you could help me out with this, that'd be great!
  7. Do they resembles the picture in Robert8's post (above)?
  8. Thanks for your C&C! I see what you mean for the roof of the tower. I have to say it doesn't come off that well on the image because of lightfall and because my pieces are not perfectly clean, but maybe I should have covered a few more studs. Thank you, all! The boulder is the same build in both scenes, it actually splits: As for Exetrius... you'll just have to see... That's a great compliment, thanks! I created that solar ray effect by holding my cellphone flashlight just on the border of the camera view.
  9. Wait a minute... this might a triviality, but I think I see a trend here: series 16 for 2016, 17 for 2017...
  10. Exetrius Saga 1: Fallen leaf 2: Message in Kyrrath 3: Equipment upgrade 4: Subjection of a legend 5: Family Dinner 6: Attack of the Hunters 7: Taking the Runestone 8: Supplies Arrive! 9: Festival of the Ranks (part 1) 10: Festival of the Ranks (part 2) Episode 11: Festival of the Ranks (part 3) It is the seventh day of the festival. About three hundred battles have taken place in the arena over the course of the last six days, with day six for resting, recovering and - for those who were still able to - celebrating. The city council had made sure that this year's party was extra grand, compromising a triathlon across the city, a two-course buffet for all of Zotharith and finally, a magical arts and fireworks contest. In addition, many pubs were offering free booze to the participants, which might have been the reason for the half-empty arena the following morning... Whatever the case, Exetrius wasn't bothered by the lack of crowd at all. The loud folk was absent. A healthy dose of quietness and suspense filled the atmosphere; perfect conditions for concentrating on what would probably be his last chance at a good battle. In his arrogance, he had lost his first fight in the blink of an eye. Even though the team fight had turned out better than expected, especially considering it was only his second fight for the regular combat ranking, it would not effect his rank as a mage. There would simply be no room for another blunder; the only way of compensating the first match and maintaining his upper middle class status was through the upcoming fight. He'd better go for it! One thing was, probably, in his favour: it was already day seven. The newbies, lower-ranked classes and those in the intermediate regions had all had their battles. Now, a whole different league was about to take the stage. Exetrius was, apparently, deemed worthy enough to enter this tiny pool dominated by big and dangerous fish, like taskforce commanders, dragon slayers and sub-elite sorcerers. If he could win against one of them... Exetrius and his opponent entered the battlefield. Like his first rival, this.. mysterious character did not have a visible weapon, which implied that he/she/it either had spells bound to the body, or integrated in the clothing and armour. Consequently, his opponent would always have an advantage in mobility, due to having both hands free. On the other hand, spells bound to cloth and skin are vulnerable, because they could be rendered useless by a small rupture or wound. He decided that he would start with a few energy blasts as a speed test. "My son, you might as well give up right at this moment, if this is the only technique you are going to use against him." Onicius thought. Exetrius was struggling hard to keep his rival at a distance. Whatever his opponent was; beast, human, or something in between, it was incredibly fast. He had never seen anyone with this level of skill in mobility and strength enhancing magic. It was using the sides of the arena to gain extra speed forward, at an increasing pace. Exetrius started to loose track, so he created an pillar under his feet to get an overview. Within seconds, his rival was blasting right towards him. This was the chance he had been waiting for: a full-frontal charge in midair, nowhere to go. He wouldn't be able to dodge this! A giant rock boulder shot straight out of the ground, towards his rival. But, he soon came to realize that something was not right... His confidence was turned into outright fear, as his opponent's right leg started emitting a powerful green glow, and it was aiming right for the boulder! The devastating impact of the kick blew the giant rock to smithereens, together with all Exetrius' hopes of standing a chance against this monster... ..who, by the way, appeared to be surprisingly friendly. This would be as far as it would go, this year. He would stronger next time around! For now, all he could do was waiting for his results, praying that he would not drop down into the lower ranks again... To be continued.... in the next episode: The ranks are out! So, I guess that concludes the Festival of the Ranks. I was planning to have a few more exciting battles with interesting characters, but school has started and a lot of other contests suddenly showed up, so those will be saved for another time then. I hope you enjoyed anyway. This build is also a CBC 2016 entry in the category "The Final Duel". Once again, if you feel like creating a little magic action scene related to this festival, go right ahead! C&C is always appreciated!
  11. Very interesting name, the "Combo Forces" one. I wonder who Ruina could be.
  12. Goblin village, evil dragon, airship.
  13. *lets out awkwardly calm "Oh nooo!" scream* Great little scene!
  14. Nice Octan sports field and I also two nice figures. Most of all: a very entertaining read!
  15. Wow! This is certainly not your standard LEGO room vignette. I really love the functional display case, It looks fantastic with the lights on! I also like the helmet display with the purple boxes (didn't know those existed). Nice desk, chair and "LEGO builds" as well. However, what stood out most to me is the tiles on the floor, those 1x2's. I would never have thought they could look so good! Are they from the Racers, Tiny Turbo's line perhaps? Awesome work!
  16. Great look with those massive bedrock pillars! Also, very NPU with the brick separator being a lava stream and of course the bionicle mask! Also, great lore with some very interesting bits..
  17. Greatest subtle WIP teaser ever! Besides, you really nailed the scene!
  18. I'll echo what others said: great work on the statue. I like how it is supporting the torch bowl with both hands. Also, both the wolf and female aspect are executed well and appropriate for the Darklands. The stone stairs and the mosaic in the floor really amplify the shrine atmosphere.
  19. The fruit press is a nice build and I also like your efforts on making a the huge round barrel with substance! The stained glass and brewery logo are some good details as well. I agree, some tiles or wedge plates to break the all-stud pattern would be nice, but you did well with the pieces you have. Looking forward to your builds in the future!
  20. Great to see your extraordinary swamp vegetation again! Awesome build! I wonder who the minifig hiding in the upper right corner is.
  21. For the Evil Green Ninja minifig, buying it from B&P is probably a little bit cheaper at the moment, but when I bought it it was a lot cheaper compared to lowest prices on bricklink (http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=njo154#T=P). B&P is not complicated, don't worry! You can search for either a set or an element. The first option will show you all pieces of the set (some won't show, others are unavailable), the latter one can be used to find a single piece (or that piece in all colours it has been moulded in, depending on the number you enter). You can add up to a hundred different elements to your cart and you pay for them all at once. I use the Brickset database to get the set numbers and element/design numbers, and then I search those in B&P. I'd say, give it a try!
  22. Hope they exclude the fourth wall break though...
  23. You can still buy all of his parts on B&P, both versions even.
  24. That flying lava launcher looks great! Pretty complete by the looks of it and appropriately evil.
  25. Looks good to me.
