[CONTEST] Benny's Spaceships Building Academy
Exetrius replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I started a Cat. A entry and got stuck... Hopefully I find time, courage and bricks to finish an entry! -
Can confirm, I got them. Wasn't sure if they were exclusive. Also, the recent skirt piece, unprinted, in medium nougat.

That's great news, I'm looking forward to it!

My pleasure, here's another exclusive one someone found: It's the one on the right, formerly only in dark red.

CMF Alastor hair recoulored in brown signalated in the BAM bar!! @cebelicamya

To be fair, those license designs themselves are based largely on Japanese mythology, which I'm less familiar with and hence I'm more likely to associate the LEGO designs with anime/game franchises.

They should have just gone with the SpaceX ultimate collection which didn't make it through the review. Could the problem be SpaceX itself?

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Exetrius replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
While not it gold or tan, the 3x3 dome appears in DBG in https://brickset.com/sets/21045-1/Trafalgar-Square! Also, unprinted versions of both the dome and the inverted cone appear in https://brickset.com/sets/10770-1/Buzz-Woody-s-Carnival-Mania!. -
Funny how the set - being a little martial arts training room - never struck me as particularly old-school Ninja (1999) stuff, but your alternate build instantly does! You really made the most of the pieces included; the gun looks very finished (it doesn't make it obvious how limited you were for its parts) and good overall, but I am also impressed by the little barricade, specifically the tan round parts that look to be sand bags. It just works out!

Green Ninjago snakes to for the pharmacy blew my mind more than it should! Nice use of curved tiles, too!

Amaterasu × Princess Mononoke = Akita + 3-tailed fox They're indeed really cashing in on the anime vibes, which I can only celebrate and encourage! Yep, quality of the white on the legs is so bad that I consider looking for a knockoff with higher quality something to be ashamed of. Nevertheless this figure is one of the coolest Ninjago figs ever in my book. How do you mean across the board; across this wave; across the Ninjago theme; across all themes? Elaborate designs like this one demand a lot of labour of the design team (humans, for the record), and budget is also finite. It is fundamentally impossible to always go above and beyond. After all, no peaks without valleys. Just be grateful that figures like these appear once in a while (or wave)! Her torso has female lines and I'm pretty sure she has eye lashes, which are a bit obscured by her hair. Perhaps a bit tomboy-ish.

Lego's false advertising with Minifigure prints
Exetrius replied to Takanuinuva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
From that thumbnail you can also see that the sloped 2x2 tile has pale printing as well, and that certainly isn't the only non-minifig printed element with bad printing. I love prints and there are cool designs released all the time, but it it already looks faded from the start, then why should I bother getting them for aesthetic value? Only the best is good enough? ... Not so much. -
A Malibu size build based on a single location would have been better. It's a show about two teenage highschoolers; a spy girl and her boyfriend sidekick, who fight the evil plans of a supervillain duo (and a few other enemies) in various places. The tower lair would be the most logical choice, but looks very bland. Plus, I would estimate that the (nostalgic) fanbase is leaning towards a female majority, who are generally less interested in conflict based sets. On the whole I think the colourful taco restaurant, where the main protagonists often hang out and have a date at some point would be the best choice. It seems that's what a competitor thought as well... https://ideas.lego.com/projects/11815034-7840-475e-827f-699995eebf62

What a great transformation! The wings are beautiful and well-integrated into the architectural façade, and the roof is another highlight. Best part to me is the interior though, love the details there, like the medals and minifigure power source area!

LEGO Educational & Dacta Discussion Thread
Exetrius replied to Exetrius's topic in Special LEGO Themes
45678 - SPIKE Prime Set 45680 - Expansion set Surprising addition to the Education line! The wild colour scheme and the frame elements definitely remind of the funky end-90's ZNAP and Technic sets. And then there's the robot system, which works hopefully equally good as it looks! Brickset article about the various new parts: https://brickset.com/article/43035/spike-prime-new-parts -
Wow, you fooled me too. At least it looks cool though!

Here's a good example: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/76a7cd1b-17a9-4aba-a795-104c85e64fb1 Despite serious downscaling and other efforts to keep the part count down, this idea is still massive. It suffers from trying to capture too many locations, while in essence their value in the show is basically zero compared to the characters themselves.

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Exetrius replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
@Digger of Bricks I've been wondering about that one from time to time, to the point I thought it was cancelled. Cute set I suppose, but very bad decision in the light of the contest theme. Promobricks has good box images: https://www.promobricks.de/lego-40335-ideas-space-rocket-ride-erste-bilder-wettbewerbs-set/78222 The City space sets stellar; out of this world ! That mini space station... The shuttle looks fresh, though oddly similar in general shape/colours to the upcoming jet from Spiderman. Imo the sets really love up to the speculation in this thread.- 991 replies

Hasn't IDEAS always been this? 30% garbage 50% moderately executed bad ideas 19% well-executed moderately good ideas 0.999% well-executed good ideas 0.001% well-executed, good, marketable ideas I'm not exactly a numerical genius, so above estimations may be a bit off.

The usual places. Browsing #legoleaks on Instagram will get you there. OT: Weird, so you can edit your signature, but not remove the image? You can get the cursor behind the image, but then backspace doesn't remove it? Are you trying on mobile or on PC?- 991 replies
