  1. Aww, I'm gonna miss Ava Gato! Everything is awsome hard! The design of the spaceship is really incredibly sleek, almost to the point that it doesn't look like Lego anymore... I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's certainly impressive! Also, cute little vehicle and creatures, great build all in all!
  2. As always, great build Sal! Great science is about knowing which risks to take. Unfortunately for Big Sal though, he seems to want to take them all. I was a bit sceptical about using such a large, raised, prefabricated baseplate, but you utilized it very intelligently for hiding the drill, so creds for that! Anyway, great snowy build, I really think the added snow adds to the overall mood, so good choice!
  3. Nice story and scenes, but what really stands out to me is the microbuild. I think you've really managed to capture both advanced architecture (with the HQ), beautiful landscaping (with the mountain and sparse but great-looking foliage) and a combination of both (the monorail and the bridge), which is no mean feat in such a small build! Kudos!
  4. Beautiful ship Mike! Great compact design and lots of smart detail use (including but not limited to the Bionicle front)! Beautiful, I love it!
  5. [K - C04] The Finishing Touches Location: C04, Aeristus Tags: Land Vehicle, Vehicle, Building (the hangar, the judges will once again have to decide if it counts), Kawashita I have actually wanted to build a skeletonized mech since a couple of weeks ago, and now the time has finally come. The mech is somewhere around 830+ pieces, not including background or minifig. Since I got some scolding (hehe) from Bob a couple of weeks ago, I've put a lot of focus on buildability, rigidity and poseability, and I'm fairly certain it would be possible to build the mech and pose it essentially any way you would want IRL. C&C welcome, as always! --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log Begin. Date: 2007(38)15. Scramble code: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... [Encrypted].//-- [Alpha Level Encryption... Checking Security Clearance Level... ... ... Passed.] When exploiting a new and uncharted galaxy, there always seem to be some kind of emergency. One minute you're doing frontier science, developing a teleportation drive never before seen in human history, and the next, The Board insists that you drop everything in order to develop new weapons to fight M.A.N.T.I.S. with on the frontlines. *Sigh*, wouldn't it be better if these kinds of tasks were handed to lower level employees? I mean sure, I guess I'm kind of in their debt since they gave my quite a promotion despite The Heart of Awsomnium being destroyed, but in the end, it's just a title and some extra credits (which in the end go back to Kawashita, I mean, who else would I buy things from?)... No matter what, it's always quite nice to finish up a "little" project. Sometimes you just want to jump in there with a screwdriver and put in those finishing touches yourself. In the end I must say I'm fairly satisfied with the VBHAR (Very Big Heavily Armed Robot) - 207. With its standard loadout, consisting of a heavy duty arm, and a combined gatling laser and missile launcher, it can quite easily destroy most types of enemy craft. Thanks to its high mobility, including a newly developed anti-gravity ring (Note to self: we should seek to replace this with teleportation technology as soon as possible), it should also be able to avoid most incoming damage. Right now, it just needs some custom plating and then it should be ready to go. --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log End. Signature: Lt. Gen. Q. 6. Bob, please buy Domination for Dummies for Robuko, thank you! Also, it seems I accidentally got a bribe from Lady Kianna of 63 credits!
  7. Ah, that's a really cool one, I actually forgot about it! Although, I can definitely see the similarities (maybe even to the point that people would be saying that I ripped Bob off... which I can assure you I didn't (seriously, I hadn't even read the backstory to that ship until now, and before that I only sifted through the pictures quickly )!)! You know what they say... great minds think alike!
  8. Well, you've earned it! Does it really remove the background? I took this screenshot (http://i.imgur.com/DJtAr2C.png) using the built in tool for my first LDD build, and it seems to still have it...
  9. Beautiful ship Robuko! Wonderful combination of sci-fi and ancient Asian design!
  10. First of all, thank you everyone! I'm glad you liked the build and found it original! In general, I try to build very utilitarian, i.e. I think what a ship should be able to do, and how to achieve it in the best way possible. For this build, the main idea was that this was a prototype teleportation device, so the engine had to be BIG (since Q hadn't had time to make it smaller yet), with a "wormhole sphere" that extends from the center of the engine. As such, the distances from the center are fairly symmetrical (since everything has to fit in a sphere extending from there). When it came to the wings, I actually thought about having one wing pointing down and two up (mostly so that it wouldn't look so much like the Imperial Shuttle), but went against it, since it would make landing almost impossible (instead, I changed the shape of the wings to create a more distinct look). Thank you Bob! I tried to be a lot more mindful in regards to buildability this week (based on your comments last week). I don't think I've used any illegal colours, and all "clicking" hinges are posted in multiples of 22.5. Also, I've thought a lot about structural integrity and only used connections that I think would actually hold IRL (the only thing I'm a bit uncertain about is the 2x2 plates holding the detachable shuttle, but I think it would be possible to switch those for plates with technic pins IRL (it was actually possible to do so in LDD, but then they would be offset by ~0.05 of a stud, resulting in not being able to place bricks right next to them... so I guess that would be a semi-legal connection IRL). And as Tyrus asked, yes, I actually looked through Bob's whole Flickr in the beginning of the week. If I remember it correctly, Bob posted a picture of his drawer ( ) where he had the Whitefang ( ) standing, so I went through his photos and eventually found it. Needless to say, I also got a lot of inspiration and ideas for techniques, which sorta went together with my earlier ideas of how I wanted to do the wormhole generator drive, so this was the end result. Haha, that's actually a direct line written by Beltar himself. We came up with this storyline in the beginning of the week (which fit perfectly into both of our overaching ones), so I told him what I wanted to do and he said "Beltar would say 'Oh, it's gonna be one of THOSE days...' in that situation". But yea, I liked that bit too. I'm quite satisfied with the look of the explosion also! Thanks man! Well, he knew what he was in for, and I think seeing The Heart of Awsomnium (which is of course a Hitchhiker's reference... the working name was actually "The Adamsa" (after Douglas Adams, plus it sounded pretty japanese), but I went for The Heart of Awsomnium instead) for the first time does that to you. Plus, it seemed like he was pretty calm during the majority of your build. Thanks! The large version of PauL wouldn't fit in the cockpit, so I made a smaller version with the same feel, glad you liked it! Well, I thought it would be a nice tie-in. I mean, if Q found out about it fairly recently, maybe he was just waiting for the opportune moment to release that mail to Beltar... No, it is not, and thanks! Haha, I really did try following your advice, you know! Well, it's almost only in name, other than (of course) that it is a teleporting spaceship (even though Adams uses multiverse switching with his infinite improbability drive (similar to Kris Straub's starslip drive) and I use a more bland, "sciency" black hole/wormhole creator). I did try around with a lot of different cockpits, but in the end I found that this one worked best, so sorry if you didn't like it! Also, I felt that since the rest of the ship uses quite a lot of fairly advanced techniques, it would be okay to use 2 big pieces for the cockpit!
  11. Nice build! Seems like a lot of bots are being recruited by M.A.N.T.I.S. agents these days!
  12. Nice ships! Coincidentally, they look a lot like a (M.A.N.T.I.S.) microship I built this week (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112032)!
  13. Haha, H3 feels a bit like a TF2 engineer. Just hit things and they'll work (or die, if they're people)! Nice waterwork, and a neat little build!
  14. Great work! Such a nice build with so many great details... nice ship, beautiful landscaping and a neat little bar! I had actually already read Lady K's story this week, and this was a great tie-in. Great job!
  15. Woah, really nice design on that truck, love it! Also, great looking landscape, dig the SNOT techniques used!
  16. Really great build, I love all the details (for example, very nice looking wall-fan by Long's office/cubicle (even though it isn't really centered ), stairs, foliage, etc. ), plus excellent storyline! Great work!
  17. Aaah, as always, I love your stories pombe! Great work once again! That mech is really spectacular as well (plus a nice micro in the end)! Awsome!
  18. Well, since I've already read (and rewritten parts of) this story a couple of times, I don't really know what more I can say except that I really like it! Thanks for (another) great collab week Beltar!
  19. I always love seeing your ship designs Aera! I love how you always make them so detailed, feeling like real ships! Great work on the details, greebling, SNOT, etc. My only suggestion for improvement would be (once again) to use the screenshot function in LDD for your first shot so you don't get the interface! (It works in viewing mode as well.)
  20. Nice ruins and beginning of what could be a mysterious plotline! I hope I'm the inspiration behind that! The only thing I can think of in terms of improvement is maybe making the foliage a bit more elaborate (more trees, perhaps varying a bin in size).
  21. Awsome Kawashita mech! Really love all the details on it, such as the dragon head! Although, I am a bit disappointed that our employees would make rookie mistakes such as these... (Also, why would a mech with a visible pilot need a head? )
  22. Beautiful water effects and great underwater scenery (including cracks for underwater shots! )! Good job!
  23. Nice one Z! I like how you've turned what could just have been a small (albeit really nice looking) mech build into a nice story! Great job!
  24. Great little scene! I think it really conveys the feeling which you were going for!
  25. D*mn! Awsome build Mike! The technique you've used for creating the dome is really spectacular! Could we get some more shots from inside it?
